Six years ago, I met a local named Raldy while waiting for a late ferry in Dumaguete, Philippines. That one-hour conversation turned into a long-distance friendship—until a devastating typhoon struck Negros Oriental, destroying his home and leaving his family with almost nothing.
When he reached out, we stepped in to help rebuild his life from the ground up. Fast forward to today: I traveled back to Dumaguete to reunite with Raldy, ride back to his barangay, and see the completed concrete house he built with his own hands.
