This tiny cub had tumbled into a deep metal trap.
Watch as our rescuer, Louis, ventures into the hot metal bin to save this young cub who had fallen many feet into a recycling skip.
Catching up with the agile cub was no simple task. While he effortlessly hopped across the sharp scrap metal, Louis had to carefully pick his way over the hazardous terrain to reach him.
Once he was safely in hand, Louis carried out a thorough assessment. Thankfully, despite his ordeal, the cub had escaped without injury; he'd simply just been trapped with no way to escape.
He was released later that same day in a nearby field, where he bounded off towards home as though nothing had ever happened.
Right, so this morning we're going to the dump.
We're going to a recycling centre, we've got a little fox cub
that's fallen down into one of the large skips containers they have there.
Fortunately it's mostly empty,
but we do have to worry about what's inside.
Injuries to the animal, injuries to us potentially.
So we're heading over there now to see how we can help.
Right, let's have a little look-see then.
Is this unusual?
There we go.
Fortunately it's quite empty.
Open up from that corner.
This side to this side.
This side?
Alrighty, that's an advantage then, so I won't need the ladder.
These things are roasting, aren't they?
There's quite a lot of planning really,
just something that on the surface seems quite simple.
So it's just getting everything, having everything to hand
so that you can be best prepared.
Which is the best way round?
All the way down?
Righty-o.
Hello, mate.
Is it this one?
Oh, here we are.
There he is.
It's heavy, isn't it?
Hello, mate.
It's nice and gently, nice and quietly.
In, when I'm in.
Close the door.
Lovely.
All the way, close it up.
That's what I didn't want.
OK.
But it's lively, anyway.
Can we still see him?
Eyes on him, brilliant.
Well, that's a good thing, he's not injured,
so it's a case it will be a rescue release.
Now I've just got to worry about hazards.
How many have dropped down in the nice soft pillow recycling bin?
Why the sharp metal one?
Go down in through your house while I'm here, Abs.
There you go.
That took me ages to get over here.
What have you got, yeah?
I know.
I know, I know.
As he's proven, he's really, really mobile,
so this will be a quick extraction and release,
which will be nice.
There we go.
We're happy with that.
So did everything we wanted to do there,
so it was nice we could give him a quick assessment and a check,
all in the confines of that skip.
He's happy and healthy, just trapped is all.
So there's a nice field over here.
We're going to pop him back over and stick him back out in the wild.
