Russia struck seven Ukrnafta oil and gas facilities in eastern Ukraine on August 7, destroying critical equipment, forcing several sites to shut down and causing significant production losses, Naftogaz said. The company's acting board chairman, Serhii Fedorenko, described the overnight attack as the most extensive recent strike on Ukrnafta facilities and said Russia was targeting energy production ahead of winter. Four Ukrnafta gas stations in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions were also hit during the day. The attacks come as Ukraine faces a critical air-defense shortage and prepares for another winter after previous Russian strikes caused widespread blackouts and heating disruptions. President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine's winter energy preparations are behind schedule.
