Mayor Scott’s wife received $51K taxpayer dollars through youth fund

Mayor Brandon Scott’s wife received $51,000 Baltimore City taxpayer dollars from 2024 to 2025 through a nonprofit that collapsed last year, according to documents obtained by Spotlight on Maryland.

The documents raise questions about whether there was a conflict of interest at Bmore Empowered, where Hana Scott worked from 2021 until the organization suddenly ended operations in September 2025. Bmore Empowered received roughly $300,000 Baltimore City taxpayer dollars in recent years, most of which was allocated through the Baltimore Children and Youth Fund (BCYF).
