
The Arab-European DNA Connection You Didn't Know Existed
42,000 years ago, somewhere in what is now Syria, one family split in two. One branch walked northwest into Europe. The other stayed — and their descendants became known as Arabs. After 42,000 years of separation, different languages, different religions, thousands of kilometres apart — scientists in Qatar took blood from 3,000 Arabs and compared it with German data. 89% of the genetic mechanisms controlling blood proteins were identical.
This video is a genetic detective story. We trace a connection that starts with one shared ancestor, runs through the Neolithic farmer bridge that seeded both Southern Europe and Arabia, survives millennia of Phoenician, Greek, Roman, and Arab exchanges across the Mediterranean — and shows up today in a Doha laboratory where a European genetic calculator works for an Arab patient with 80% accuracy.
