Easy No-Sew Baby Seal Crochet Tutorial 🦭_ Beginner Friendly

This tiny seal might be the cutest thing you'll crochet today. It's beginner-friendly and almost no sewing. If you'd like to make the matching crochet full float, you can find that tutorial in my previous video. I'll leave the link in the description below. So, grab your yarn and hook and let's get started. Let's start by making the front flippers. We'll need two identical pieces. Make a slip knot and chain 4. 1, 2, 3 and 4. Skip the first chain. Starting in the second chain from the hook, work 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 chains. 1 and 2. Now work 3 single crochets in the last stitch. 1, 2 and 3. Continue working along the opposite side of the chain and make 1 single crochet into each of the remaining 2 stitches. Fasten off and cut the yarn. Don't leave a long tail for sewing because we'll crochet the flippers directly onto the body later. Now making the second flipper exactly the same way. Now let's crochet the seal. We'll begin with the magic ring. Wrap the yarn around your fingers, insert your hook, pull up a loop and chain 1. Now work 7 single crochets into the ring. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Pull the tail firmly and close the ring. I like to place a stitch marker into the last stitch of the round so it's easier to keep track of your rounds. For round 2 make an increase in every stitch. That means work 2 single crochets into each stitch. First and second. Repeat all the way round. I'll show you one more time. In the same stitch 2 single crochets. 1 and 2. You should have 14 stitches. For round 3 work 1 single crochet in the first stitch. Then make 1 increase in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern all the way round. I'll show you once more. 1 single crochet, then an increase. At the end of the round you should have 21 stitches. For round 4 work 1 single crochet into each of the first 2 stitches. 1 and 2, then make an increase. Repeat this sequence all the way round. Let's repeat the pattern again. 2 single crochets, then an increase. You should finish with 28 stitches. Rounds 5 through 7 are simple. Just make 1 single crochet into every stitch around. In this round we'll crochet the seal's muzzle using puff stitch. Starting by making 1 single crochet into each of the first 13 stitches. Now I'm switching to white yarn to make the muzzle stand out. If you prefer you can keep using the same color as a body instead. Now let's make our first puff stitch. Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a long loop. Repeat that 3 more times. 4 times in total. Now yarn over once more and pull through all the loops on your hook. Then chain 1 and close the puff stitch. In the next stitch make slip stitch. We'll come back to this stitch later to add the tongue. So you can place a stitch marker here if you'd like. Now into that same stitch make a second puff stitch exactly the same way. Change yarn color. Chain 1. And finish the round by working 1 single crochet into each of the remaining 13 stitches. You should still have 28 stitches. Round 9 is easy. Just make 1 single crochet into every stitch around. For round 10 work single crochet into each of the first 5 stitches. Then make 1 invisible decrease. To make an invisible decrease insert your hook through the front loops of the next 2 stitches. Yarn over, pull through both loops. Then finish the single crochet as usual. Repeat all the way round. Let's repeat the pattern once more. 5 single crochets. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Then a decrease. At the end of the round you'll have 24 stitches. Now insert the safety eyes. In round 11 we'll attach the front flippers. Work 1 single crochet into each of the first 7 stitches. Now place the first flipper against the body. We'll crochet through both layers at the same time. Insert your hook through the first stitch on the flipper and the front loop on the next stitch on the body. Make 1 single crochet. Repeat this for the next 2 stitches. Work through 3 stitches on the flipper and the front loops on the body together. Now continue with 1 single crochet in each of the next 5 stitches on the body. Attach the second flipper to the body the same way. Finish the round with 1 single crochet into each of the remaining 6 stitches. Rounds 12 through 15 are easy. Just work 1 single crochet into every stitch around. Round 16. Work 1 single crochet into each of the first 6 stitches. Then make 1 decrease. Repeat this pattern around the round. That's 6 single crochets, then a decrease. You'll finish the round with 21 stitches. For round 17 work 1 single crochet into each of the first 5 stitches. Then make a decrease. Repeat the same pattern around. 5 single crochets, then decrease. You'll finish with 18 stitches. For round 18 work 1 single crochet into the first stitch. Then make a decrease. Repeat this pattern all the way around. 1 single crochet, 1 decrease. At the end of the round you'll have 12 stitches. Now is good time to firmly stuff the body. For round 19 make 6 invisible decreases. Don't fasten off just yet, instead we'll use the remaining stitches to crochet the back flippers. If needed, add a little more stuffing before closing body. For back flippers, chain 1, flatten the opening so the stitches line up, working through the both layers at the same time. Make 3 single crochets across the opening. 1, 2 and 3. This creates the base of the tail flippers. Now let's shape the tail. Into the first stitch work chain 2, make 1 double crochet, 1 treble crochet, chain 3, 1, 2, 3, then make a slip stitch into the same stitch. Move to the next stitch and make 1 slip stitch. Into the last stitch make 1 slip stitch, chain 3, 1 treble crochet, 1 double crochet, chain 2, and finish with another slip stitch into the same stitch. Fasten off, cut the yarn and weave in the end. Using black yarn embroider a small nose between the puff stitches. Then add 2 tiny eyebrows just above the eyes. Now let's add the tiny tongue. Go back to the slip stitch between the 2 puff stitches. Join your pink yarn there, chain 2, then make 1 slip stitch into the same stitch. Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends. And that's it! Your adorable little baby seal is finished!
