'We are going to be judged always' - Maresca expects scrutiny in Man City managerial debut in Hong Kong

I like to join the day-by-day, the tomorrow game and then we're gonna be a judge always, not just tomorrow. It's important now that we start 10 days ago all together, we have introduced some new concepts, so it's also important tomorrow to see something and this is in this moment the main focus. I asked the same question from day one, for me it's a huge privilege to be here after Pep, after 10 years with him, but as I said I don't believe in copy and paste, I think every manager they are different, every manager they can bring something different, so it's my target, it's my duty to try to introduce some new ideas, but in general it's a privilege. As I said, the main focus for him when the season finished was the World Cup, now he enjoys some rest after that and we didn't have any conversation, just focus on Rodri. It's very important, I said in the first press conference that any manager in the world wants Rodri because he's a top player, so it's important for me, for the club, for everyone and now in his holiday it's very important when we start to play every three days. It's very important, Phil is very important, like the rest, knowing Phil from years ago I know how good he is, so it's my duty to try to help him, to be the Phil that we all want. First of all to be happy, to play football, that for him is the most important thing and as I said, Phil in a good condition, Phil in a good mood, can help us to win games, to win titles and it's what we want. I cannot say too much to be honest because I don't know exactly the details, the focus since we are here, since I joined the club has been, as you know, to prepare session, to be focused on tomorrow game and then the next one, so I don't have many details to give you the right answer. Xabi Alonso was asked about it and he said football is for the people, is that something you agree with? Football for sure is for the people, for the fans, no doubt. We are talking with the club about some targets, it's a normal situation when the window is open, anything can happen, for sure we are going to do something but we are looking at different positions. Not at the moment very satisfied with the ones that we have here, many young players, good ones, full of energy and then when the season starts we have all our senior players, they are important and excited for the season ahead, no doubt.
