AI GeneratedThis video provides a highlight reel of a professional golf tournament, showcasing exceptional shots and strategic plays from golfers like Henrik Stenson, Ernie Els, and Cameron Percy. It concludes with an interview with Darren Fickard, who discusses his success in the top 10 and the unpredictable, challenging course conditions.
Here's a man who's just strolling along very nicely,
carey, carey, carey, look at it, oh, oh, oh, great try.
It's good, it's very good, it's better than very good and boy did he ever need that
after the start he's had, it's been such a rough ride from the word go today.
Great view there, see how far back in the stands he has the ball so he can
Trap it and hit it low, drill it into the wind, oh it's gorgeous.
What a shot from Stenson, it never leaves you.
Cameron Percy second into nine, I saw his tee shot,
see the pin there on the left edge of the green, did not miss this green left,
that's magnificent, oh almost made it, excellent execution.
Good approach from Alexandrine underway at the first,
down the slope for the lead and we have a change at the top.
Now Sink trying to move this one right to left against the breeze with the shape of the hole,
go left as you can see that is a, oh what a good break that is, wow.
Just half a follow-through for Stenson trying to drive that one towards the target
and making a fantastic job of it, great shot making from Henrik Stenson.
Oh what a putt from Ernie Ells, we've seen that for decades,
still has the touch, picks up his first birdie of the day.
You and as a fellow gardener this broom it's,
it's so grabby isn't it, how do you, how do you swing through it, how do you get a ball to go
like that, goodness me, what a risk that was but it sort of paid off.
If you're taking an unplayable line to club then too then I'd probably a similar shot to that one
left. Yes, Hersey, got to go between the bunkers, brilliant, absolutely brilliant little chip,
wasn't it, shades of 79 of Ballesteros 1976,
Zach Johnson from 217, he's drawing it into the wind actually, what a shot.
That's majestic, that's one for the chosen few that went off the left,
took it in from the right side with a soft drop and got the control at the end of it.
Long iron for sinker 11.
This is good, this is very good.
This is where the tee shot finished at 14 as we filmed on the bank,
ball back, hands forward, just a push back into the breeze, very nearly back-to-back chippings for
Percy. This is fairly straightforward, bare line, back into the breeze,
Padraic, what the heck. The line's good, oh it's a softish, oh it's a lovely soft bounce there,
this shoots to, oh even another one slowing up, goodness me, Ernie Els, happy birthday.
Yeah, hit the sprinkler head, it took a lot of momentum out of that to finish nearly perfect.
That was incredible, wasn't it, if it doesn't hit the sprinkler head it goes over the green.
Enormous tee shot from Percy at the last, that's just a short iron in his hand,
see if he can get this to stop between the bunker and the pin.
Well such was the quality of the tee shot that gave him the opportunity to do that,
tremendous. Well it's not to be the eagle but you look at that round of 68 and it seems a silly
thing to say but the 68 today is equal to the 63 of yesterday, tremendous play. That's just a flick,
that's a flick with these lofted which and when you drive it that far down there it gives you
the opportunity to do that, still has to be done but that could be a really significant moment
in this championship. Some big names on the first page there, Darren Fickard was tremendous today,
finished with a seven in round one, forgot about all that round of 68, moved nicely into the top 10.
Which score is 73.8, you just shot 68, what was the secret today?
I'd say I had a good feel with my longer putts, I certainly didn't hit it close
but some of the really, really good two putts out there using the slopes and just trying to
keep the ball in front of me, not do too much. So it's fun playing this type of golf,
it's difficult, I know we're expecting even more weather coming up so this is only 36 holes and
this course can do anything to anybody but I really enjoy it. Describe the conditions for us,
the main challenges are in these conditions on this course. I mean it's kind of like playing
golf on the moon and not knowing what gravity is going to do to your ball, how far you're going to
hit it and where it's going to land and how you know hitting the craters and going all over the
place, it's acceptance and that's normally not my game but I brought it this week and
I hope I continue to bring it because you're going to be wrong and it's going to bounce
places that, boy that was a good shot but, no but, just go get it done the next time so
I'm always learning. But you're someone who enjoys the challenge rather than just okay
keep your head down, grind at a score, you actually enjoy the challenge that you're faced with.
I do and when I'm truly enjoying the challenge I play much better, I've always
grounded out my entire career but you know I'm learning to accept some things and enjoy some
things. Great playing over the first two rounds, well done. Thank you, appreciate it.
