Video Summary
AI GeneratedPimento, a sick foal, was rescued and brought to UT in critical condition, unable to stand or accept standard mare formula. After discovering he would only drink goat's milk, a community effort secured 14 gallons of milk from local farms. Pimento has since recovered significantly, is now drinking independently, and is showing a playful personality.
When we picked up Pimento, he probably hadn't eaten for quite a while.
His mom's milk was pretty much dried up and he was lucky to be alive.
When he got to UT, they started him on a feeding tube.
He was pretty sick when he came to us. He was unable to get up on his own.
But he was refusing to take the mare formula mix.
So what they did is they thawed out a little bit of goat's milk that they had on hand.
And he loved it, drank it right up.
Then the dilemma was they didn't have enough goat's milk to get through the next day.
I put a plea out on my personal Facebook page asking if anybody local had goat's milk.
And one of our previous adopters saw that.
And she put the message out on a local board in her area.
And we had three different goat dairy farms contact us
and was able to take 14 gallons of goat's milk to UT.
He was not strong enough to do it on his own.
But as of today, he is strong enough and is able to drink out of a pan on his own,
which we're really happy to see.
Now, from what I understand, they said he's enjoying it so much he's basically milk drunk.
His personality has really started to shine through in the past couple days.
He really does try to play.
I mean, he thinks we're his moms.
I'm quite optimistic now.
Three days ago, it wasn't looking as good.
But things have started to really progress in the right direction
and continue each day to get a little bit better.
