For seven years, Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) has helped young Americans transition from foster care to stable housing, creating opportunities for brighter futures and lasting independence.

Launched during the first Trump Administration by HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, the FYI initiative connects eligible young adults aging out of foster care with housing assistance and supportive services, helping them pursue education, employment, and self-sufficiency.
Today, First Lady Melania Trump continues to champion foster youth through her Foster Youth to Independence initiative, highlighting the importance of ensuring every young person has the opportunity to build a successful future.
