AI GeneratedThe discussion features Congressman Roger Williams and former Ambassador Nikki Haley addressing the rise of radical leftist ideologies in the U.S., the economic recovery from the pandemic, and the geopolitical threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party. They emphasize the need for Republican leadership to protect Western values, ensure economic prosperity, and counter Chinese aggression globally.
Hello, everyone and welcome to another edition of CPAC Live.
It's great to be with you again, although I have to say my heart is heavy.
I think many of our hearts are in distress as we continue to see what's going on across
this country.
We had the good fortune of being invited by the democratic protesters in Hong Kong to
have CPAC go stand alongside them in the streets.
What we see what the radical communists, the Marxists are doing in Hong Kong, trying to
take over that really almost a former democracy, even though they just had an election, trying
to take it over is very similar to what these radical elements are trying to do in America,
trying to create chaos.
They act like it's about a legitimate beef with history, but their actions demonstrate
their problem isn't with our history.
Their problem is with our country, every aspect of our country.
It's about our founders.
It's about Western civilization.
It's about those missionaries who came here to bring Christianity to this part of the
globe.
People we properly revere, people who should be heroes to our children, we're being told
that they're not even proper examples for our history.
Our heart is broken because we don't know where to start to push back.
Over the weekend, when Black Lives Matter, Incorporated, or these other radicals say
they're coming after the statues of Jesus and Mary, I remember tweeting about that and
having people say, oh, come on, they're not really going to do that.
Well, they're doing it.
And they defaced two statues of the mother of Christ over the weekend, one in Boston.
And now two churches have been burned.
And I know the ATF is going to determine who is culpable for the desecration of these churches.
But the fact remains that when people stand up and foment violence against religious symbols,
eventually, somebody's going to do something.
Or as the speaker said, I guess people will do what they do.
Well, that's not good enough for our leaders.
They need to call out the angry mob, because there are victims of this mob.
There are economic victims who can't open up their businesses as people take over whole
cities or whole streets like they did with CHOP.
And there are actual victims, dead, mostly minority children and people and immigrants,
new Americans, because the violence continues.
And you know what?
It's all being fed through ActBlue.
Nancy Pelosi gets the benefit of ActBlue.
Joe Biden's getting the benefit of ActBlue.
And Black Lives Matter Incorporated is getting the benefit of ActBlue.
This is the online digital platform that is the colluding center for all these parts of
what you hate reading about in the news.
Nancy Pelosi is the beneficiary of ActBlue.
Joe Biden is the beneficiary of ActBlue.
Just so happens that's the same entity by which these radicalized groups are being funded.
It's perhaps why they won't call them out.
And my heart is heavy, because good people are being persecuted.
And we all know it.
And we want it to end.
And it's my great honor now to bring in a guest who is a very close friend of CPAC and
ACU, who has a lifetime A rating with the ACU, who came to Congress as a businessman
with very practical understanding of what we all have to do to provide for our family.
And we're just so thankful that Roger Williams is here with us today.
Congressman Williams, how are you, sir?
I'm good, man.
How are you today?
I'm doing OK.
So you came to Congress.
I bet you got a lot of things you want to unburden to our CPAC community as well.
But you came to Congress understanding how the economy works.
And you could never have imagined that we'd be walking down this road of a pandemic and
a shutdown.
Is there hope on the economic front?
Oh, absolutely there is.
You know, if we'd have been having this conversation, Matt, in January, we'd be
talking about 3% unemployment, more jobs and people, just a 4% GDP growth.
And then we saw 112 days what the pandemic did to this economy.
Now, the economy, too, I must tell you, as a business person, the economy is coming back.
When you have interest rates like we have right now, when you have the lowest tax rates
we've ever seen in our lifetime, and we have cash in the system, unlike 08, there's a big
opportunity for Main Street America to grow and come back and start businesses again.
We've seen that with the PPP program.
It did work.
So I think we can see growth in the fourth quarter.
And when President Trump wins again, I think we could see a lot of growth in the next year.
I go back in business.
As you do, you remember 20% interest and the 88 meltdown and 9-11 and so forth.
So I think the economy is sitting pretty good.
Look at the jobs report.
Most jobs increased we've seen ever.
Job startups are happening right now.
So I think we got a good opportunity to get the economy going again sooner than later.
If people will do what they're asked to do, we can beat back this pandemic.
8 million new jobs already added back to the economy.
We know that under President Trump's policies, so many more manufacturing jobs were added.
I think we shed something like 5 million under the disastrous socialist policies of Barack Obama.
We got Joe Biden saying, and the Democrats now saying, they want to go back to your tax cut
that you helped craft that reduced corporate income tax rates.
He says he wants to raise it by a third.
Is there any way that American manufacturers could survive with all those Obama regulations
put back on the economy and corporate taxes now becoming uncompetitive with the globe?
Well, there's no way.
America would be back.
It would settle back into mediocrity.
And there's no way business can afford a tax increase.
All it will do will lower, it will cut, it will all cut employees.
It will raise the unemployment.
People become more subservient to the government.
It's the socialistic mentality where people reach out for the only half that gets the government.
And Joe Biden doesn't get it.
I mean, Joe Biden's never run a business in his life.
He's been a government employee forever, as all the people that surround him.
So he doesn't know what it's like to meet a paycheck.
He doesn't know what it's like to have someone need an advance because they've got to make
their car payment or their house payment.
So we have no, you know, Joe Biden is not a choice.
But the economy is sitting ready to go again and quicker than most people think.
But you can't do it with more regulations and higher interest rates.
And you can't do it with higher taxes to corporate America and small business in Main Street America.
You know, Joe Biden might not have run a business, but Hunter Biden sure knows how to run a racket.
So, you know, they figured out some ways to get it done.
It's probably not the way that we would want to see getting it done.
And, you know, I think when you look at what you're facing in Congress,
I think the Americans have to ask themselves a question.
We have these systemic problems with what Marxism and socialism is creeping into our society.
Who do you trust to have a pushback?
When you're in the House of Representatives, what's the difference between Nancy Pelosi
being the speaker or having a Republican speaker?
Is it dramatic?
Well, it's totally dramatic.
We have a Republican speaker.
We have concerted opportunities to improve our country and to get things done.
We can make tax cuts permanent, for one example.
We have to make those permanent so businesses can plan.
We'll have everything from a stronger military to all the things that make the country great
and empower individuals and not the government.
You know, the government, as you know, Matt, can create a job,
but the government can't create net worth.
And that's what the private sector does.
So, you know, we go Pelosi again.
You're going to have higher interest rates.
You're going to have higher unemployment.
You're going to have a weaker military.
We're going to be weaker across the world.
People will test us more.
And it will not be a good formula for the future of our country and our kids and our grandkids.
I said in the opening to the show, Congressman Williams,
that I thought Nancy Pelosi's response to the question about the destruction of these statues,
the illegal violence that's occurring all over the country, she just poo-pooed it.
Well, I guess some people are going to do some things.
I mean, what was your reaction to that?
Am I being too harsh?
No, it made me sick.
I mean, I'm sure if it's so bad now, Democrats or Madam Speaker,
why wasn't it bad 20 years ago, 15 years ago?
Why wasn't it bad when your father was honoring statues in Baltimore for Southern leaders?
And so why is it bad now when it wasn't bad before?
Why is it so bad about Mount Rushmore when I'm sure you took your kids and your grandkids
to review it at some point in time?
So it's all political.
It's all about demeaning the country and President Trump.
It's not going to work.
I believe it's our generation's Valley Forge, but you were right.
People have to stand up.
The president's taught us to fight.
We have to fight, fight, fight now like we've never fought before.
And we have to go over this leftist agenda that is trying to take us over.
And the statue, the tearing up and the tearing down of statues tears my heart apart.
And we need to stop that.
And you've been a voice your whole life for making sure that American citizens will step
up and fund the right kind of candidates and support the right kind of candidates.
You know, ActBlue is actively trying to defeat every one of your colleagues and you.
That is the platform by which these radicals are also getting their money.
This is no accident.
No, it's no accident.
It's all planned.
And we can play the name game on where this money's coming.
But, you know, we have the ability on the conservative side to step up not only through
sweat, energy and treasure.
It all goes together and defeat this.
If we beat these people back now, they're going to be beat back pretty good.
They've gone very far left.
And I think this is a time that they need to win.
It's certainly a time we need to win.
So it's a battle.
And through what you're doing with CPAC and through your energy, Matt, you're making people
understand that this is important.
That voting is important.
It's a precious right.
If we turn out, we win.
If we don't, we lose.
So a lot of people are talking about how Texas is turning blue, turning purple.
Joe Biden's team is saying they think they'll pick up Texas.
Give us an idea.
What are you hearing from your constituents?
Are they hopeful?
Are they worried?
Is Texas changing?
What's going on down there?
Well, the only people you hear about Texas turning blue are the Democrats.
Texas is not turning blue.
President Trump's going to win Texas.
John Cornyn is going to win Texas.
I'm going to win my congressional seat along with others.
There may be some close races, but Texas is solidly Republican or red.
It's not going anywhere.
And unfortunately, it's so good we have a lot of people from other places coming into Texas
that might be trying to change our culture.
But it's not going to happen.
A lot of energy down here, a lot of inspiration to make things happen.
Good leadership through Governor Abbott.
So don't rely, Team Blue, on getting Texas this go-around.
And they're going to have to go through Roger Williams to turn Texas blue, I believe.
Well, they are.
And I'm going to stand and I'm going to circle the statues.
I'm going to stand on my toes.
I'm going to fight back.
And there's millions and millions of people just like me in this great state that, frankly,
have had enough.
And I think Texas is an example for America to follow.
No income tax, low unemployment, great jobs.
So we've got a lot going on.
We're going to defend and protect here in November.
I do want you to know, Congressman Williams, that I do talk to a lot of people who are
in New York City, who are in Boston, who are in these big Northeast, I would call many
of them broken cities.
San Francisco, Los Angeles, very broken city.
Chicago, tragically broken.
Kids get slaughtered every weekend.
These policies just aren't working for people when crime gets out of control and taxes get
out of control.
Kind of all feeds together.
I actually think there's a lot of people moving to Texas.
I think you're right.
But now the media is out there trying to say actually states like Florida and Texas are
not safe to go to because, you know, they're the they're the super spreaders of Chinese
Corona.
Can you help us understand behind the headlines what's really going on in Texas with these
they're reporting on what's going on with Corona?
Yeah, well, Texas and Florida are two of the greatest states in our country.
They're getting hammered by the media, as you say.
In Texas, Governor Abbott, I think, has done a really good job.
You know, in this thing, there's no book on how to fix the pandemic.
We're writing the book, all of us right now.
And Governor Abbott's done a good job.
He's turned the power of decision making over to county judges and local communities, which
I think is right.
We've had a spike, but our hospitals are handling it.
Our doctors, our nurses, we've got equipment.
And so, I mean, we're we're doing what we got to do.
We're proactive.
And the governor and all to him, he's making people understand, do what you're asked to
do, social distance, wash your hands, all the things we need to be doing.
If we do that, as you know, Texas led the way in coming out of the pandemic.
We were one of the first to open up and it was the great thing to do.
And we learned you can't shut the economy down now.
So, you know, you can pick on Texas all you want a team blue or Florida.
But it's funny that they all want to come here because it's so bad.
But I think that we're doing a pretty good job and we'll get it done.
And we'll lead the way in doing it.
Hey, Roger, I have one more request of you.
Can you do everything in your power to make sure that my kids can actually physically
go to school?
Kids, kids need to go to school that we need to open the schools up.
And that's one of the things we're very strong on is we need to get back to schools.
We need to get back to to sports.
We need to get back to learning.
We need to get back to where parents go to work and their kids at church and we need
to get in church.
I mean, you know, we open Wal-Mart up, right?
We open hamburger stands, but we don't open up churches.
But that's part of the attack from the left.
And we've got to realize that and we've got to open our churches, open our schools,
get back to normal, have a smile on our face.
Right now, wearing masks.
A lot of kids can't see smiles.
We need to get back to that.
So I feel good about it.
It's a challenging time for all of us.
I mean, now, November, we can't take days off.
We need to take them on.
Can't give in and can't give it out.
At the end of the day, we'll win.
I feel better having talked to you, Roger Williams.
I always do.
You always give me these pet me up texts when you see me on TV.
And I try to do the same to you because this could be the fight of our lifetime.
And having you on the team is a big deal.
And we appreciate everything you do for CPAC.
Always appearing and helping us in every way.
Thanks for being with us today, Roger Williams.
God bless you.
And it's an honor, Matt.
And tell your beautiful wife.
Hi, she's the best.
And today, guess what?
Is our 18th anniversary.
So you've got you don't even know that you've got really good timing.
She needs a trophy or a flag flown over the Capitol to honor her for being married to me.
Oh, yeah.
Now, my biggest job as a husband, go find a restaurant that's open
where she doesn't have to cover up her beautiful face.
Roger Williams, thanks for being with us.
And we're going to be right back with Ambassador Nikki Haley after this short video.
Protesters in Hong Kong are begging the United States and specifically President Trump
to help them in their fight for democracy.
Tonight, some prominent American conservatives are meeting them in the semi-autonomous territory.
This Hong Kong movement for democracy is something every American needs to pray for,
needs to try to support, because the Chinese regime in Beijing
is probably more vulnerable than we realize.
You're looking at a face-off on one of the main roads in Hong Kong this Sunday afternoon.
At one end, protesters with umbrellas ready because of the tear gas which will be shot by police.
With the suppression that we're seeing from the Chinese communists
towards these peaceful protesters, there was a genuine concern
that Matt, Dan and several other of the ACU staff would end up in jail.
We would hear people say, I will die for freedom, and they meant it.
This morning, anti-government protests in Hong Kong reaching a new level of violence.
Tens of thousands marched to the U.S. consulate pleading with President Trump to liberate Hong Kong.
The American flag held high as the crowd sang America's national anthem.
Strong leadership coming from President Trump has put some of these regimes on the precipice,
and I'm hoping that they fall the right way, which is freedom for their people.
Shannon, I've just never seen anything like it.
What you have is literally thousands of mostly what I would call students or kids, teenagers,
some as young as 12 years old have been arrested.
Something I hear all over the globe when I travel, people in MAGA hats, people saying,
please tell your president that for the first time we have an American leader who's got our back,
who's on our side.
They're willing to give their lives for this struggle.
You know, it's a very emotional thing to see young people committed to democracy.
It's completely the opposite of what they hear when they turn on CNN International in their country
about how much the globe is so embarrassed of Donald Trump.
The movement is now receiving support from members of the Conservative Political Action
Conference here in the U.S. The conservative group joined student protesters, some as young as 12.
I had a young man come up to me.
I looked very American, clearly, on the streets of Hong Kong, and he said,
are you with CPAC?
And I said, yeah, I'm with CPAC.
He goes, thank you for being here with me.
You know, it makes you almost want to tear up.
These are really important times.
Our last night in Hong Kong, this great patriot who stands for freedom,
Jimmy Lai, invited us to his house.
And when we showed up at Jimmy's house, there were members of the media
who were essentially communist spies from media outlets owned by the communist regime in Beijing.
They were there to harass us, to make us feel unsafe.
Filming us as we were walking in, videotaping us,
recording who we are and why we were there.
We had this conversation around the table.
What's at stake?
What are the chances that this comes out well for the people of Hong Kong?
What are the chances that a Tiananmen Square-type episode occurs?
Will there be this violent, bloody crackdown?
And as we said our goodbyes, we headed back to our hotel.
We all went to sleep, and not many hours later, we were woken up to the news.
The home of Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai was attacked early Thursday morning by a firebombing.
Two masked men lit glass bottles on fire in front of Lai's residence and lobbed them at the gate.
The firebombs were seen as an act of intimidation against the pro-democracy tycoon.
They were sending us a very clear message.
Don't meet with Jimmy.
They were sending Jimmy a very clear message.
Don't meet with the CPAC guys.
And I think they were also sending us a message that it was time for us to leave.
What a great but tragic clip about what's going on in Hong Kong.
And as I mentioned earlier in the show, CPAC was invited to stand with the protesters.
And we want to go back.
Things are dire.
And one of the most strident and important voices in taking on these outrageous activities
of the Communist government in China is former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
Ambassador, thanks for joining us on CPAC Live.
Thanks so much, Matt.
It's great to be with you.
We loved having you at CPAC this year.
I loved how you walked down to the hub and just addressed all the attendees.
There's a real hunger out there with just average everyday Americans who love their country
to see people stand up and defend what has made this country great.
And one of those things is standing with our democratic brothers and sisters overseas.
When you see what's going on in Hong Kong, what's your reaction?
You know, it's heartbreaking.
I mean, we're watching it become this massive surveillance area where they're basically
trying to control what people feel, what they say, what they think.
And it's just more of China's bullying that we're seeing happen.
And this has been happening for years.
And thankfully, this administration is the first to really wake up and see it.
But we're seeing China now respond in a very different way.
And I've often said the reason we have to care so much about the people of Hong Kong
and what's happening there is because Taiwan is next.
And China is set on its strategy.
They are full speed ahead.
And the U.S. needs to wake up and make sure that we're standing strong to them.
And we're standing strong for anybody that wants a democracy.
You know, we've had three CPACs in Tokyo, Japan.
We had a CPAC in South Korea.
We have people reaching out to us from India to do a CPAC there.
Obviously, Chinese corona has halted some of our more ambitious travel plans.
But it doesn't, as you so correctly say, the people of Taiwan are worried.
The people of India are worried.
The people of Australia are worried.
The people of Japan are worried.
Obviously, people in South Korea are worried.
That whole neighborhood, this doesn't end.
They will continue to try to have this domination.
And we've got to take steps now.
Well, it's interesting because they're all worried.
But if you saw the news today, the world has a lot more to be worried about.
Iran and China came in on a trade and military deal together.
Now you're going to see China have much more influence on Iran.
Now that's happening because Iran's feeling the burn of the sanctions from the United States.
It's also happening because China's feeling threatened and they're trying to get control.
But this is all the reason why this is the perfect opportunity for our allies to get together.
And they are contacting the U.S., wanting to work with the administration to get together.
India, Australia, Japan, those three right there are fighting back against China,
regardless of the threat.
They're great allies to the United States.
And we need to come together and stand up to China.
I mean, there's too many things that are going on from how they handled the COVID situation
to the fact that they have these Confucius Institutes on universities,
which they've now renamed them because they're trying to remarket that,
to the fact that they've been treated as a developing country when it comes to contributions
of multilateral organizations, supporting PPE at a time that we needed,
to really starting to push on Taiwan.
There are a lot of reasons that we need to stand up to China.
And there's a lot of reasons that China's feeling the pain.
And I'm thankful to the administration.
And I'm thankful to our allies for seeing this and getting ready to act on it.
Yeah, Republicans really attacked Donald Trump,
because they said he was heterodox on questions of trade in China.
And the truth is, is he realized that we had to change our policies
or the economic surrender was going to result in a national security issue?
Well, Matt, he was the first president to wake up and say, wait a minute,
we've been naive to China.
The trade deal is not working.
While they continue to strengthen, why are we treating them like a developing country?
And he took them on with the trade deal.
And people don't realize that's something that no other president was able to do before.
The fact that he did it, put China on notice.
It's the reason they're reacting the way they are.
But they are feeling the pain.
The fact that China and Iran have now come together
is because they both feel the threat of the United States.
And they both know that the United States is on to them.
And so it's a good assumption for us.
And we just have to keep up that momentum.
So you have encapsulated some policy changes that need to happen with China
through an online petition for your website, which we're going to throw on the screen.
So everybody in our CPAC community and the viewers can watch it.
Those five steps, you've walked them out.
What are you going to do with people who sign up,
like the people watching the show with this petition?
Well, it's StopCommunistChina.com.
And we've had almost half a million people sign on to the petition.
I was on the call with about 60 congressional members a couple of weeks ago.
They have all received the petition.
And basically, the petition is saying,
look, we've got to start bringing products and manufacturing back to the United States.
And it gives policies on how we do that.
It says we have to stop treating China as a developing country.
And it talks about how we make that change in multilateral organizations.
It says that we need to hold universities accountable
and know exactly how much money they're taking from China
and what they're having to do in return.
And it's basically saying that, look, we need to start supporting Taiwan.
And these are the measures to do that.
So we are turning those half a million people over to Congress,
saying, look, people want you to act.
These are the policies.
And they already came out with a report that encapsulated a lot of those policies in there.
We're going to continue to push those
and help support Congress and the president in getting these things done.
Well, God bless your board.
We had Ajit Pai, the FCC chairman on CPAC Live last week.
And he was outlining why it's so important
to keep these Chinese-owned, communist, Chinese government-owned businesses,
corporations, whatever you want to call them,
but they're basically controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.
Companies like Huawei, ZTE, they have a big transportation company
that's selling trains back to run under our biggest cities.
This is the next thing.
It's not just what the Chinese government is doing under its banner.
It's also what these corporations that they control are doing.
Do you agree with what the administration is doing
to make sure that Huawei and ZTE can't get into the 5G backbone?
Absolutely.
And let me tell you what happened that while we were going through COVID,
while the world was standing still at one moment in time,
and every country was fighting for the survival of its people.
You know what China was doing?
In January, China went to American companies, 3M and Honeywell,
who were producing PPE, forbid them from exporting it to any countries whatsoever.
They bought it wholesale, and they would only give it to countries
that agreed to take on Huawei.
That's how big this 5G issue is.
That's why the fact that the United States is pushing back on it is important.
It's why we're seeing the UK flip and switch on that.
It's why we're starting to see India and other countries take notice of that.
This is the way China wants to take control is to get that 5G network.
It's why they're partnering with Iran today.
And so, yes, every American company doing business in China
has agreed to work with the Chinese military.
We need to start calling them out.
We need to start telling them that they have to be held accountable
because this is a national security threat to the United States.
You know, South Carolina has elected a lot of great people.
Obviously, you were a two-term governor there.
And one of the elected representatives from South Carolina
who's really grabbed a hold of the American people's attention is Tim Scott,
who has been such a clarion voice on the question of
the proper way to think through police reform,
the proper way to think through a harmonization of race relations.
You know Senator Scott well.
What's your reaction to what he's saying and trying to do?
Matt, I'm so proud of Tim.
And I'll tell you that I actually appointed him to the U.S. Senate
when Jim DeMint stepped down.
And he has done nothing but shine ever since.
And I just could not be more proud.
You know, what he's doing is he's speaking the truth.
You know, this goes back to the fact that
the answer to what is happening is holding bad cops accountable,
making sure good cops call out bad cops.
The only way you do that is through police reform.
The only way you do that is through transparency.
You don't do it by painting murals on roads in front of Trump Tower.
You don't do it by saying that we're going to start to,
you know, tear down statues and tear down all these things.
That's not the way to get things done.
We had a bad cop shoot Walter Scott in the back when I was governor.
It was a horrific situation.
Shot him in the back.
He was unarmed.
And we did something about it.
We didn't have riots and protests.
What we did was we brought law enforcement together with the Walter Scott family.
And we passed the first body camera bill in the country.
And we didn't have violence.
What we did was we had results.
And that's what this is about.
Everyone is horrified by what happened to George Floyd.
But doing what they're doing right now is not doing anything for George Floyd.
Sitting down at a table and talking about police reform in every state in the country,
that would be doing something about George Floyd.
But Charles Schumer and the Democrats in the Senate
won't even really seriously consider Tim Scott's proposal.
That is exactly the opposite of the leadership you provided in South Carolina.
You know, it showed the Democrats true colors
when Tim Scott did the work with his colleagues to bring that to the floor.
And they would not even hear it.
He offered them multiple opportunities to put up a number of amendments.
They would not even hear it, Matt.
How do you take the Democrats seriously when it comes to police reform?
How does the Black Lives Matter movement take the Democrats seriously
when it comes to police reform when they wouldn't even hear what he had to say?
And they wouldn't even put up amendments to counter it.
It goes to show that this is election year politics.
They don't want anything to pass because if something were to pass,
and God forbid it be a Republican that started,
then that would hurt their chances to get Biden in the White House.
And it's just disgusting.
It's sick to see where politics is right now.
But it's all the more reason why we have to have a strong voice.
We have to make sure we get out the vote in November.
And we have to make sure we call out the Democrats every time they play these games.
So you've created these great contacts all over the globe through your work at the UN.
When you talk to people overseas, be they people involved in private business,
people involved in capital markets, elected officials,
people in their foreign policy bureaucracy,
when they look at all the chaos on the streets of America,
what do they say?
When America looks like it's faltering, do people get worried overseas?
Yes, they do.
Because the one thing that I found out the United Nations,
whether they don't like us, whether they resent us,
they still want us to lead.
And the one most horrifying thing that I saw at the United Nations
is every foreign leader watches CNN.
And so they get their news from CNN because CNN has a global presence.
And that's what they see.
So not only are they seeing what's happening in the United States,
they're seeing a very biased form of what's happening in the United States.
And they get nervous when the United States looks distracted.
They get nervous when the United States looks unstable.
And the idea that we have situations where we have violence
and we're going against the rule of law and we're going against law enforcement,
those are things that they have all been envious of the United States
Those are things that they all tried to mimic in their own countries.
So the idea that we are questioning that or implying that any of that
does not still represent the best country in the world is wrong.
Are we perfect?
No, we have a lot of work to do.
But we are still the single best bright light in the world.
And every country in the world does want to see us lead.
And we have to continue to do that.
You know what's so different from so many other countries
is we are probably the most diverse in every way,
including racially, including ethnicity.
We are a diverse group of people, many people who came here
because they wanted to live their own unique life
and they knew America would allow it.
The left used to tell us that our diversity was our strength,
which I don't think they ever really meant
because I actually think they're trying to use our diversity,
which I think we all respect, against us.
And it's tragic because it gets to the very foundations of the country.
Well, they're using identity politics.
And I'll tell you again,
every one of the ambassadors at the United Nations,
one, loved living in the United States.
They loved the freedoms of speech and religion
and all the things that we hold dear.
And they would talk to me about how they loved going outside
and seeing all the different cultures
and hearing all the different languages
and seeing people that didn't look the same.
They loved it.
And it is something that we should be proud of.
I've always said that on our worst day,
we are blessed to live in America.
But we have to remember the lawlessness is not part of who we are.
Rule of law is one of the bedrocks of this country.
The second we give up being a country of laws,
we give up everything this country was founded on.
And so this is a time, yes,
separate the good cops from the bad cops,
but rule of law is key.
We can't have violent outbursts that go against that.
I saw one protester that was literally taking down
a law enforcement officer this morning on the news.
It's awful to see what's happening.
But I do think, Matt,
we had to go through this to get to our better days.
We will come out of this stronger and better than ever,
but we will only come out of this when people want results,
not shouting, not yelling, not drama,
but they actually want results
because at the end of the day,
that's what's going to bring peace back to America.
And it'd be nice if legislators would actually want to legislate
instead of just give speeches.
And when you have people ripping down statues,
burning churches,
cops being attacked,
priests being attacked,
young kids being killed,
it'd be nice to have the Speaker of the House
actually condemn it and call it out.
Well, and you know,
I've said the Black Lives Movement is losing credibility
because they're picking and choosing
which black lives matter.
You know, what about the black store owner
whose business burned down?
What about the black law enforcement officers
who've been chastised or killed through this?
What about the six black children
that died a week ago from murders?
What about those black lives?
Don't they matter?
Because we all think they matter.
And the idea that they're picking and choosing
which black lives matter makes it harder and harder
for us to take this movement seriously.
We want police reform.
We want transparency.
But at the end of the day,
the rule of law is a bedrock
and we have to stay strong on that.
And I will tell you,
I do think we're going to get through this, Matt,
but it's a shame that the Democrats
are allowing this to happen.
I listened to Nancy Pelosi say,
people are going to do what people are going to do.
That was disgusting for her to say,
to allow that in her state
and not sit there and back law enforcement
and not back these people
who sacrifice their lives and their families
every day to protect strangers.
It was awful.
Yeah, it's awful.
And we need to pray for our country.
We need to pray for our president.
And we need to pray for people like yourself
who are willing to get out there publicly
and call out the lawlessness.
