Building the Perfect Door for Our Reclaimed Timber Frame

Welcome back to the finca!
This is Part 2 of our traditional door project. In the previous episode, we built a solid door frame from reclaimed 150-year-old roof timbers. Today we're completing the project by building a brand-new traditional wooden door to fit that handmade frame.
With temperatures above 40°C outside, it's the perfect opportunity to stay in the workshop and get some woodworking done. Using tongue-and-groove boards, traditional ledges and quality hardware, we build a solid timber door that will be fitted to our historic stone building.
In this episode:
• Building a traditional wooden door from scratch
• Cutting and assembling tongue-and-groove boards
• Installing ledges, hinges and a traditional latch
• Creating a door to fit our reclaimed timber frame
• Traditional woodworking techniques
• Progress on our historic stone building restoration
The reclaimed frame and the new handmade door combine traditional craftsmanship with durable new materials, creating a door that looks right at home in this historic property.
