Old Stone House Renovation: Our Final Plans for the Main Room

After a couple of weeks away from the renovation, we've finally settled on a plan for the main room — and it's time to start making it happen!
This room is going to become our main living and dining space, with the restored Hergóm wood-burning range as the centrepiece. In this video we clear the room, reveal our final plans and start preparing the walls for the next stage of the renovation.
We'll take you around the room and show you what we're planning, including:
• The restored Hergóm and fireplace as the main feature
• A new window to bring much-needed light into the room
• A new glazed door leading out to the courtyard
• French doors that we've decided to use elsewhere
• Restoring and converting some original wall lights to electric
• Preparing the walls for new wiring and stonework
• Working out how we're going to bring everything together while keeping as many of the original features as possible
And, as usual with this old stone house, nothing is ever quite as straightforward as it looks!
We're still battling the Spanish summer heat, with temperatures reaching 41°C, so we're making the most of the cooler parts of the day and tackling the work we can.
This is the next big stage of our old stone house restoration, and we're finally starting to see how this room is going to look when it's finished.
