Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey opened to an apparent box office and critical success, but the numbers tell a different story once you actually look at them... is Hollywood cooking the books?

The speaker argues that the entertainment industry and review aggregators like Rotten Tomatoes use psychological manipulation and selection bias to gaslight audiences. By manufacturing artificial consensus through skewed scoring systems and pushing ideological agendas over artistic fidelity, the industry marginalizes dissenting views and prioritizes social engineering over genuine storytelling.
It's all designed to make you go, wait a second, 97% of people just love the odyssey.
I guess I'm in a small minority. Wait a second. The vast majority of Americans don't have a
problem with a tranny bud light cam, whatever it is, take your pick. It is designed to make
you think that you hold a radical view when you don't. Rotten tomatoes.
This one really pissed you off.
I'm not watching the odyssey. I refuse to watch the odyssey.
Again, we go to another mechanism, the entertainment industry. It's really effective
at gaslighting people, that word's overused. It's really effective at indoctrinating people,
and they're really effective at playing the victim. Very often, you'll see a bias that's
proactive and go, well, I clearly see that at MSNOW or someone like Brian Stelter.
The manipulation that takes place behind the scenes is something that went unseen for a very,
very long time. I think this administration has made great leaps to actually expose that.
This really highlights it, the odyssey. For a while, there was Captain Marvel,
there was Gamergate, but it died down because the left realized, okay,
if we keep pushing this overtly, the industry's not going to go very well.
They're still always trying to make it work subversively. I used to be able to separate,
and I still can, art from the artist. I can't separate entertainment from the entertainment
industry anymore. Let's say that the odyssey just made some casting mistakes, and I get it,
it's fictional. Let's say it wasn't too on the nose. I still wouldn't want to see it because I
don't want to give my money to a production house, to a director who's going to use it to sucker
punch me with the next one. I'm at the point where I'm militantly, nope, I'm not giving them any
money. I'm not because I know how it's going to be used. We see the game. So if we look at the
odyssey, who they want you to believe that now 95% of critics and 97% of audiences love it.
No one has a bad word to say about the odyssey. Well, it seems weird because if you remember
leading up to the movie, they skipped all those word of mouth pre-screenings for influencers,
social media. They said, no, we're not going to do that. They restricted or outright
put basically a ban on all comments across official posts for the odyssey. That's always
a good sign. Well, apparently after all of that, it opened to be a smashing box office
and critical success. Never a bad word to be found. The odyssey stormed the box office over
the weekend with this year's biggest live action domestic opening yet. I think his king is coming
back. No, he's not. The film, the first commercial feature shot entirely in IMAX,
raked in more than $264 million worldwide. The film is also declaring victory with critics
receiving an A grade on CinemaScore exit polls and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The momentum is only expected to continue with Oscar buzz already swirling.
Well, yeah, the momentum with critics, which they already knew that they had, by the way,
they're in the bag. As far as momentum, like it's only gross about 282 million worldwide.
Thus far, they need to make at least 700 million just to break even a lot. That's a lot of money
that they need to make now, but with the critics, two separate worlds with the critics. Well, sure.
I think Kelsey right now, do we have that? They have the odyssey at 50%
odds to win best picture. And then Dune part three, I guess, is the next one.
Digger is the next one. Really? With Tom Cruise. Yeah. Oh, I don't know. It doesn't look like Tom
Cruise at all, though. I didn't know that that was getting Oscar buzz. And here's the thing.
This is not new to those of you. Does anyone remember the Captain Marvel controversy that
was going on back then? This is happening with Marvel quite a bit across the board.
But Rotten Tomatoes, they've been caught with their pants down quite a bit. Here's what the
left will do. The left will try and tell you, well, it's just an aggregator. So you can't blame
them for bias. Absolutely, we can. They are dishonest, and it's not just an aggregator. It
is a place that has direct relationships with those in the film industry. And of course,
some palms can be greased. We know that. But here's how they do have a bias. And here's how
they try to socially engineer things. They do it through a selection bias. So Rotten Tomatoes,
for those of you familiar, they have a critic score, like an average score from one to 100,
and they have an audience score. So the critic score is usually by qualified critics, right?
You'd think, like, I don't know, Chicago Sun, New York Times. And then the audience is anyone
who can go see the movie. Well, that's not how it works, and we'll go through this. So the critic
score is 94%. The audience score is 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. When you go to Metacritic, right, and
they weigh the score differently, the critic score is about 89%. The audience is about 51%
for comparison. So think about why. And we'll get to the methodology, but I want to show you how
Rotten Tomatoes manipulates the critic score, and they can do it with any film that they want,
and the audience score. It doesn't mean that they always do it, but it means they can always do it
whenever they so choose. So going back to July 15th, by the way, there were no audience reviews,
and there were no critic reviews. And I was checking this, Rotten Tomatoes. This was the
only review that I could see. I know you're thinking, like, Washington Post? No, it was Tim
Cogshell from the Alt Film Guide. Oh, we all know that one. And he wrote, Christopher Nolan's latest
cinematic event is perfectly good, and yet it's one truly remarkable achievement. It's not the
drama, the direction, the acting, the cinematography, or the visual effects, but the sound design. That
was the only review up there, July 15th. Sound design? Uh, we're not getting that.
Big Debbie in the lead, but Pennywise is closing in, and Big Debbie is in the lead once again.
What a race we have today, folks. They're in the homestretch now.
A lady or a guy? Answer me, lady guy. A gift for Athena. A lady gift?
It's a guy. I'm pretty sure it's a lady.
What say you? Is it a guy or a lady? Lady!
Now, if you think that is repetitive, the film goes on and on and on. Stop it. Listen, I saw it
and I almost cheered when that scene happened at the very beginning. I understand, I get it,
and you make a very valid point that I'll consider in the future for these films, but
I almost was like, yeah, they killed her in the opening scene. She can't even jog lightly with
fake armor. I know, it's a horrible decision. An indefensible position. It absolutely is. I
get it. Sounds like my four-year-old son. He doesn't know what to do with his arms.
She jogs like my dog Joe Louis when you put a Christmas sweater on him.
So, Rotten Tomatoes. Because if people believe, well, it must be really good,
the critics say it's great, and the audience says it's great, guess what? That creates momentum.
They understand this. So, let's first go with the critic score. Rotten Tomatoes,
here's how they manipulate it. Who they select to be a critic. They have a certain criteria. Now,
to be clear, we were denied the times that we applied. Several times with Rotten Tomatoes
as a verified critic. I'll show you some of the people who have been approved,
guess their political persuasion. So, these are the key values for Rotten Tomato critics to become
verified. Insight, audience, quality, dedication. They say that podcasters, YouTubers also have to
show consistent review output for a minimum of two years. I mean, I don't know how many
dozens of reviews we've done. A minimum of 30,000 subscribers on YouTube qualifies for wide audience
reach. We were, of course, denied. However, these are included in that 94, 95% critic score. Rachel
Wagner is an official critic. 12,000 subscribers on YouTube. 1,000 views on the Odyssey review.
And, of course, the review said it's an entertaining epic that's surprisingly rewatchable.
That was the whole review? Yeah. I will show you too, there's some of these videos that you can
watch. It's just a screen grab, not even HD of someone going, I liked this movie. So, you can
look at some of the reviews that are included in the critic score. I know what you're thinking,
like Richard Roper. You're thinking film critics. No, it's whoever they choose. Denied.
Many conservative reviewers, or people who would be right-leaning, denied. And people who are just
as far left, and activists, approved. You let me know when we have some of the videos there,
Noodles, because some of them are just, like literally 34 plays on some of them, but approved.
So, hey, you know what? Maybe, guys, you can let us know why we weren't allowed to be critics. We
review films all the time, and we'd love to do more Rotten Tomatoes. We'd love to be included,
provide some balance. Then, if you look at the criteria for the audience review. So, that's the
bias, the selection bias that you see with the critic reviews, Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience
score. Well, first, let's use kind of a comparison, Metacritic. Anyone who can log on to Metacritic,
if they have an account, they can write a review. And each review is incorporated into the overall
score. All right. Some people would say that's flawed, because people control. Sure, okay,
I understand that. Rotten Tomatoes, anyone can leave a review, but only verified reviews are
counted toward the overall score. Now, verified for audience, not just critics. So, now we have
approval for critics, which is very selective, where the criteria doesn't make sense, but we
also have verification for the audience. So, what that means is reviewers, as I understand it,
only reviewers who would get a push notification from the Fandango ticketing app after the movie
ended could leave reviews for The Odyssey. Now, someone could say, well, that makes more sense
than someone just leaving a review if they haven't seen the film. Sure, but let me ask you this.
Who out there buys your tickets exclusively on Fandango? You guys let me know. Now, second
question. How many of you who buy tickets on Fandango have its notifications turned on?
So, anyone who pays through whatever it is, the Cinemark app, Regal, I don't know the other
primary ones, you don't even have a chance. Anyone who even uses Fandango but doesn't
have the notifications set on or happens to catch them, you're not included. Why so specific? Do you
think that maybe those people at Rotten Tomatoes saying, okay, we obviously had to, we know that
you guys had to stop the screenings. We know that you guys had to disable comments. There are some
levers we can pull here. If we only allow those who pay for tickets on Fandango to leave a review
and only those who get a notification, we can look at the demographics, the people who receive
notifications from the Fandango app are actually far more likely to be old, confused, and not
really in the loop with the controversy. Or could they send out a message to people who might be
verified, not critics, but verified users saying, hey, this is how you would have to leave a review.
In other words, provide the instructions to one group and not the other. That's how a lot of
fights used to be fixed, to give you an idea. You may not know this, but sometimes there was one guy
in a fixed fight who didn't know that he was in a fixed fight. It was the other guy who was paid to
go down. The other guy thought he won. You can provide different instructions to different groups.
You can look at, especially with AI, you can analyze it and say, okay, we just want this demographic
of people to be included in voting. All right, we've come to our conclusion. Only people who buy
a ticket on Fandango and have their notifications turned on in the middle of the day get to leave
a review. Congratulations, 97% for Tranny Odyssey. Some things are out of your control.
Nope. Trying to help out. I'm good. That's a nice suit. You too. Thank you.

if you want to add to that. So this was a Reddit user, Rory Tate, pointed out
that if you look at the metadata and only the users who wrote a review on Rotten Tomato are
included, the results change. The new audience score is 56%, meaning if you got rid of, I think,
just the verified ones with the push notification. So people who would be verified, so people who,
as I understand it, likely would have bought a ticket or certainly would still have an account.
So there's some form of verification, but they didn't do the push notification. Oh my gosh,
it's more in line with Metacritic. So this is important because we talked about education.
We've talked about the media. Media is dead as far as legacy media. CNN, MSNBC, MS... I mean,
none of them even have the same names, to be clear. So good. Mission largely accomplished.
Stay on that. Education will be decapitated, the beast, within the next decade, decade and a half
if this is implemented correctly. The entertainment industry is a little bit trickier because
unlike media and unlike education, the industry is predicated around it being able to morph and
adapt to new mediums like new media. So for the longest time, the entertainment industry,
they wanted to ban people online who were their competitors, right? Podcasts, YouTube,
things like that. That was the era of copyright strikes, DMCA claims. Then they said, oh,
wait a second. This is where the puck is going regardless. So let's just dump a bunch of money
into these social media platforms or media platforms like YouTube so that we can dominate
and force these guys out. Oh, wait a second. People have found other platforms where they're
able to give feedback and relay the honest information to the audience, like our movie
Sucking, like it having a social agenda. Okay, now let's go to those who are trusted as aggregators
and find ways that we can manipulate that. And it's all designed to make you go, wait a second,
97% of people just love the Odyssey. I guess I'm in a small minority. Wait a second. The vast
majority of Americans don't have a problem with a tranny Bud Light can, whatever it is, take your
pick. It is designed to make you think that you hold a radical view when you don't. And here's
actually more, you know, who didn't love the movie, Emily Wilson, and she was the one whose
translation was basically used as the inspiration for the Odyssey by Nolan, which was a mistake in
its first, in the first place. The film has these flashbacks to the Trojan War. I'm not sure if I
see it as an entirely anti-war film, but it certainly presents us with an Odysseus who feels
very bad about certain things that he's done in war and is struggling to process them in a very,
I would say, very modern, psychiatrised way. And he's struggling to process them and needs drugs to
do so for help with his recovery. And he seems to feel bad about being a warrior and we never
actually get to see him doing much warrior-ing, which I thought in a way was a bit of a shame.
He wants glory and he wants to get spoils from the sack of a city, which is, you'll see what
Nolan does with all of that, but it's different things from what Homer does. I kept looking in
for a sense that this was a film about glory. I think it's a film that has some interest in shame,
but I don't think it has any interest in glory. I think, I think she's also wrong. It's not,
his character doesn't have any problem with war and being in war. It has no issue with that at
all. He has a problem with him being responsible for the murder of men, women, and children in
that city only because of his idea. That was it. It wasn't the sacking of the city or winning a war.
He didn't have a problem with that. He had a problem with, oh my gosh, the only reason men,
women, and children are being slaughtered throughout the city because it said 10 years
of vengeance was unleashed in one night. That was the problem that he had with it. He's like,
holy crap, what did I just do? Yeah, but the primary, the first poem is really more so about
a guy. Oh, glory. In other words, it's not, no, she's right at that. It's not the modern
everything's praying. Oh, good. Well, he'd be like, ah, I killed that little bit.
I thought her analysis was wrong anyway, so. Well, let's just not have women interpret all
these, uh, classic. How about we just go back to the originals, huh? How about that? It'd be like
if we had the new Testament and someone's like, you know what? I want to rewrite this, but I want
to change all of this actually problematic. I actually have a question for that. Emily Wilson,
are you a lady or a guy? You must go over the tattoos. What's hilarious is that that character,
what's her name? Ellen ends up in Hades and they ended up talking. He was like, she's like,
you left me there to die. And he's like, yes, but I was right there next to you. I could smell your
blood. I was like, this is hilarious to me. She dies at the open and the entire point of her being
there was to get killed. They left her behind to be killed. It was hilarious to me. I don't follow.
I don't like that you saw the movie. I know. I don't know. I just can't look you guys. I just
can't anymore. I'm like, no, I'm just not going to give him the money. It used to be like, because
I know, I know people who are Christian conservatives ago. Yeah. My kid really likes miss
Rachel. No, no, no, no, no, no. Cause your child is just one click away from tip binding on trans
awareness day. The odyssey. Yeah. That he's one click away from being coached on how to say Latin
X. Like just no, no, nothing. It's old. Give him a cookie or give him some muffin, whatever the
hell it is. Absolutely not. I've just at that point, like an artist and if it's, let's say
a prick of an artist, who's like a far leftist, I don't know. Let's say Mark Ruffalo was in a movie
that's really good. And the movie has a good message. And you know, the people involved
with production is like, okay, okay, fine. I can separate the art from the artist.
I cannot separate the entertainment from the industry because the industry has decided that
it is incumbent upon them to fundamentally change society in a way that is evil. That's my view.
I'm hardline. I'm militant. I make no apologies about it. And I'm not so fun at parties.
That's not true. You're sometimes fun at parties. Sometimes I can. Yeah. Depends
on what kind of party. Someone winds me up. That's why we don't try to get you to drink.
That's why you dose me. That's why I had my neighbor come over and tell us that she's
getting a divorce. That's right. Yeah. I was like, let's get Steven riled up. Well,
they're both like 85. Didn't you say she's the most annoying human being ever? Maybe the guy
had enough. He's going to die in two years. For like 55 years. Yeah. It was a fun day.
So going back to this, a lot of critics, outlets, and certainly a lot of fans had problems with the
like 97% as far as an aggregate of an audience score would mean this is pretty much across the
board. Everyone agrees. It would sort of be like you probably had that with like the Dark Knight,
which is another Nolan film where people go, this is, it's pretty hard to argue. Isn't the
best superhero film out there. It was really well done. Yeah. You're not going to find that. You
might find some people go, well, no, it's too mainstream, whatever. But you're not going to
find people who go like, nah, I thought it was absolutely crap. Everything about it was horribly
done. So 97% means across the board for all time, everyone will look back on it and say,
objectively, that was as close to a perfect film that can be made. It wouldn't allow room for
many, many people being pissed about the casting, the inaccuracy, the overacting.
Like here's an example. Walter Masterson wrote about this, like trying to tell people up. Well,
no, hold on a second. There were a bunch of people who were outraged. This is someone trying to tell
you, you shouldn't be outraged. Right. And that's another weird thing. You have people going like,
well, I don't know why people are so upset. Come on. You don't, you don't like, have you lived
under a rock for the last, last 10, 15 years where the left always bitches about appropriation?
The Greeks don't get, they don't, they don't get a bright spot. Like this is their thing.
You've been shoving it down our throats. How do you not understand? It's like,
why would you be mad at the guy who texts you about hail damage?
Right. Yeah. I don't know. F you.
Right. Yeah. They started out the movie, not with just that scene, but with the black guy
doing slam poetry. Not kidding. I'm even more mad that you saw this.
I didn't know that. You prayed for a script where a black guy in ancient Greece did slam poetry.
Obviously slammed the table as he was doing it too. I was like, oh, this is.
I am familiar with the scene because I did watch the first six minutes. I bootlegged it though,
like an American. You just admitted to a crime, Josh. Do you want to maybe qualify that as maybe
bootlegged it? Allegedly. There we go. I've seen slam poetry once in my life and it was accidentally
because it was an open mic and I had a friend who was doing a little like, and I didn't realize it
was open mic where anyone could do anything. Anything.
And the guy just got out. Really? Well, technically at a comedy
open mic, you can do anything and be like, well, that was comedy.
I left very quickly. Should have stayed. You don't know. You
could have missed a big punch. Come on. You're a Norm fan.
I'll tell people about it during a rumble. I don't necessarily want to be going wide.
So what are you trying to tell me? I have one if you want to say.
Oh, okay. Okay. So by the way, just going back to this, what I was saying earlier,
verified critics, not verified. We're not right. Our mug club movie reviews that are done in this
studio with professional sound consistently with a rating system that you guys understand
that doesn't qualify having done it for close to a decade, give or take, but this is a verified
critic. Yeah. So just for the reference, it's called for your reference podcast, 387 subscribers,
91 videos, and they gave it a five out of five. So let's see what they have to say.
Come on, son. Oh, okay. Denzel's back. Denzel's back. Okay.
Will be mine. Oh, I'm sorry. This is for gladiator.
It's for gladiator too, but this is her video review. She gave gladiator to a five of five.
No, no, no, no. She gave me out of five out of five. So the point is she gave gladiator too.
Yeah. We need to. We've all seen that crap.
Anyway.
I guess that's it. All right.
Substance. By the way, on CNN, there's a contributor who just always, he always asked
for a hoagie here to hoagie request. Oh, dude, you know who that is? That's Alex Crones.
Oh, he looked like he just burped in his mouth and hopes.
So you tell me, make the, Hey, that's part of the critic score. Why?
If you go look at the critics, uh, the, the verified critics and rotten tomatoes,
just look through, I've looked through hundreds of them. Most of them are complete and total crap.
Yeah. Oh, by the way, not only that, I went to film school, didn't finish my brother there,
but that's what I, that's what I studied, right? This is what I've done. Why not? But that,
Oh, I'm willing to bet there's some kind of racial or ethnic component to it, perhaps a
gendered component. So a lot of people, 97% would leave no room for people going, Hey,
it should be Greek or Hey, you know, the guy should be a man. Um, no one is having any
criticisms. But then when you look at people trying to quell criticisms online, that tells
how significant the criticisms must be. So here's Walter Masterson making the case.
And the odyssey is a fictional story. Never happened. Helen of Troy was the daughter of
Zeus and Queen Theta. Zeus came to Theta as a swan and Helen of Troy was hatched from an egg.
Homer never used the word Xanthus fair hair to describe Helen. Sappho used Xanthus to describe
Helen 300 years later. And again, this entire story is made up. Homer never even refers to
the Trojan horse as a horse read a book. Then someone else, this guy, Michael O'Lane wrote,
Helen of Troy was not Greek. She's a pure myth. Greece did not exist in this period. Art and
culture are not literal. They are works of creative imagination. The odyssey is not history.
It is a literary creation. Then Lupita Nyong'o, who was in the film said in Elle's magazine,
this is a mythological story. Okay, cool. Now do black ones. Do it with Wakanda,
bitch. Do it with anything that has seen as distinctly black, distinctly Indian, distinctly
Latina, Latino, Latin X. Also, I get it. Art is open to interpretation. But in this case,
it's not someone taking a real story by your own admission and interpreting it as a film.
You are taking someone's work of creative fiction. So shouldn't that not be open to
interpretation as far as creative vision? In other words, it's already been expressed
by the person who created it. Greek. It could be any number of things you take issue with.
Home Alone 3 had no Joe Pesci. It's true. Hated it. Yep. You need a Pesci.
Had French Stewart. I know. Oh, I forget that. Who, by the way,
would have been a better cast as Achilles. Oh, I think my heel is bothering me again.
Oh, boy. Better than a gerani. Nice. Here, you know what? Well,
she wasn't cast as Achilles. No, I know. They made up some new thing that they cast.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. They just mentioned someone like, oh, bravest and best warrior among us,
but you never see it like it didn't go through rewrites. Sure. 100%. But let's just let someone
who's not me make the case because I'm a white supremacist. After all, I show up on time. Here's
talking about how this kind of only applies to white Western culture, but not any other.
You shouldn't appropriate any other ones as a movie and as a character. I'm lucky to get the
part, but also the part is so much deeper than than just a part. This is my ancestors and it's
my it's my soul of all the films that I've been fortunate enough to bring here to Hawaii.
This one is special because it is about our culture, our Polynesian culture,
and it's our land, our culture, our pride, our people. It's also a film and a story
that has become beloved all around the world due to throwing the infirm or weird looking babies
off of cliffs that I look around as the sun is getting ready to go down. I look at this
incredible crew. Where'd you get the teeth? Many of them locals who I've known for years,
a few of them, my family. And what a full circle moment to be able to come back here and help bring
Moana home. Yeah. What are the tattoos mean? Where'd you get the teeth around your neck?
If you guys understand it, looking back, okay, cool. I get it. Different culture. You can tell
any story you want. A lot of it centered around telling people how many folks you slaughtered,
how good you were at slaughtering things, both human and animals. Okay. That was a big part
of the culture. Oh, well, I'll be too low and goodbye. Shut up with your stupid rubber suit.
We want to do is search the sea. I just want to sing. Yeah. You have a water site.
By the way, it makes sense. It's just completely bombed. Yeah. It's just they, oh, it's,
they want to praise all the other cultures. Isn't that great? They want to praise the cultures
that you would hate living in or rulers or governments you would despise living under.
You would not want to live under the kind of systems that the Polynesians had incorporated,
created. There's a reason that it's not a thing anymore. I literally have been to the cliff
there. You can drive, there's a huddle and you can see where they threw off old to the tribe
would throw old people. I'm like babies. They didn't like, they just throw them off of there
because like, just get rid of them. A lot of times they were like, Hey, we need preferable winds.
Yeah. Or we need rain for our crops. We need to sacrifice children. Yeah. It's like, yeah,
we are different than you. It's fine. Right. By the way, the only times I was trying to think
back, like when we've, we've seen them kind of like, Hey, we have to represent these cultures
differently. It was like black Panther where they had to completely invent a civilization
that didn't exist and say, it's just been hidden from our eyes forever. It's like,
just, just show us black culture. Show us what it is. It's so funny because the only way they
could do it, like I've always joked, like you mean riding a Tesla with a plasma spear? Like
they literally have to go like, look, Hey, they're super advanced in this African nation. You're
just like, well, that's just, that's just Dallas. That's just a guy going to his office in Dallas.
It happens to be black. It's like, Oh, we got to make another Africa. We have to show all the
third world of barbarism, but put them on top of a lithium battery or some. It's just, to me,
I just, I couldn't stop laughing when I watched them like, Oh my God. They go, you know, it's
magic. Like what you call science. We call magic. That's how we have a super advanced
African society. Okay. It's so advanced. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
You're too dumb to like fist fighting with like blunt force objects. Like that's going to be
successful. It's like literally like some guy has like a club and the other guy has like a
scythe and he was like, right. And then the guy just like shoots plasma out of his hand.
