India youth movement agrees to talk but insists protests will continue

developments here in the national capital of New Delhi. First, the education activist Sonam Wanchuk calling off his 26-day-long hunger strike and two outreaches from the Prime Minister. Two outreaches in 24 hours. First, a tweet and then a video released at midnight last night. This from a government where not one minister has bothered to reach out and meet with any of the parents of the families that lost young students where students committed suicide. Now, in the face of a building momentum, in a bid to stem the anger, the Prime Minister is speaking out. In his video, he promised justice. He says that a tough new law is on its way which will deal with the situation of recurring exam leaks that we see in India. But on the ground, the Cockroach Janata Party says their protests will continue. They have thanked Mr. Wanchuk. They have acknowledged and expressed gratitude for his life-threatening fast over the last 26 days. But they say they will continue to protest. In fact, they have upped the ante. They are now calling for a nationwide protest today. That's the 24th Friday, the 24th of July. And they continue to demand that the education minister step down.
