Chief meteorologist Cecily Tynan to retire after more than 30 years with Action News

I have a personal announcement. After more than 30 years at Act News, I will be retiring in a few weeks. And honestly, I'm thrilled about it. This has been in the works for a while. I've been counting down here at this station. Both my children have graduated from high school. My daughter is going to college in less than a month. And she'll be running cross-country and track. And my husband and I, we plan to attend every single one for me. So it's the right time for me. It's the right time for my family. And I'm so very thankful. I've had such a long career at this station. And, it's the best thing, I have got time to say goodbye. My final broadcast will be in more than a month from now at 6 o'clock news on Monday, August 31st. So mark that on your calendars. And hopefully, Brian, we will have quiet weather that week. No tornado warnings, please. Because I want the time to say goodbye. And afterwards, a huge party here at this station. Well, history is a guide. We're going to have a great party for you. I bet we're going to have a lot of them. It goes without saying, but you know me, I'm going to say it anyway, you are a treasure. Not just in this newsroom, of course, but among everybody out there watching who loves tuning in every night and feeling the comfort of having Cecily Tynan tell them what's coming up. So a lot of people are going to be sad when they hear this, but I really sincerely hope the overriding emotion is joy for you. You so deserve this. Thank you. And I love my co-workers. I love you guys. I love our viewers. And that's why I've stayed here so long. When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. And so that's what I've been doing. Avid skier, avid water skier. She's going to rock retirement like nobody ever has. We got you for a while more. Many more words to celebrate you in the weeks to come.
