AI GeneratedHouse Speaker Mike Johnson is facing intense criticism and internal rebellion within the Republican caucus. His attempt to pass the SAVE Act by tying it to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) has backfired, drawing public condemnation from fellow Republicans who oppose the bill's spending and its implications for U.S. sovereignty and Middle East involvement.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson is having a very rough go of things right now. In fact,
if I had to put money on it, I would actually bet that Mike Johnson is seriously hoping
Democrats do take back the House of Representatives after the midterms because this guy just seems
like not only does he not even like his job, he's complained about it all the time, but also
he doesn't want it anymore because he can't handle it. So right now what's happening is you got Mike
Johnson out there trying to push his Republican caucus with his razor thin majority to pass
Donald Trump's SAVE Act, which of course will put voter suppression laws in place nationally.
Problem he's having, well, two problems he's having. One, even Republicans are like,
yeah, this is kind of a bridge too far. We don't necessarily support it. But the
second problem he's having, and he's actually getting called out by his own Republican
caucus members in public for this, is that he decided to tie the SAVE Act to the National
Defense Authorization Act that would give the Pentagon billions of more dollars that they
desperately need because Pete Hegseth has pushed them to the brink of bankruptcy.
But that National Defense Authorization Act also has another little caveat in it
that calls for increased cooperation between the militaries of the United States and Israel,
which everybody knows means, okay, we're going to be bogged down in Iran and perhaps the entire
Middle East for decades to come and even Republicans can't stomach that. So Mike
Johnson took a very unpopular bill that he knew was already going to struggle to get passed,
put it with a thing that Republicans have already spoken out against and he thought this was going
to be a good idea and make it easier to pass. I can't make that make sense for you because it
doesn't make any sense to me. But that is Mike Johnson's logic. If I take one unpopular thing
and put it with another unpopular thing, that's kind of like a double negative and now it's a
unpopular thing. Like that, that's his train of thought, apparently. When he posted on social
media this week that they were moving forward with the Save and Protect America Act, Republican
representative Thomas Massey got on Twitter and fired back and said, he's talking about a spending
bill that's $75 billion for military expenses in Iran. It has a $10 billion bribe to states
for election security, not the SAVE Act. Don't fall for it. That is a Republican member of
Congress calling out on social media, the Republican speaker of the house. I can't even
begin to explain the significance of that. That is insane that we are at that point and that Mike
Johnson is that bad at his job. Massey continued by saying, it's a bright, shiny object used to
give my colleagues cover for voting to proceed on a national defense authorization act that
compromises American sovereignty. Most Republicans in the house will knuckle under the threat of
being called someone who voted against a bill that advanced the Save America Act.
Now giving up America's sovereignty, of course, he's referring to the part about the US
cooperating more with the Israeli military, which basically means they call the shots
our troops have to follow. He's not the only one though. Republican representative Chip Roy,
right? Big maggot dude. Also on the fence about it because he's not sure that this NDAA,
national defense authorization act, is such a good idea because of all the money for an
endless war that nobody wanted in the first place. Then of course you have Marjorie Taylor
Greene, who's no longer in Congress, but she decided to get in on the feud and say,
a Trump requested $93 billion bill that gives the Pentagon 60 billion for the Iran war that
now killed 17 US service members and injured over 430 more. So much winning with MAGA.
Uh, I gotta tell you, I am kind of liking the fact that Marjorie Taylor Greene is basically
just a professional troll now. That's actually kind of fun. She's still a horrible human being
as usual, don't get me wrong, but it's a little funny now that she's fighting against the people
that she helped build. Either way, all of this is a disaster for Mike Johnson. He's not good at
his job. He doesn't like his job. He doesn't want his job. And it almost seems at this point that
he's sabotaging it himself so that he can stop being speaker come January. Hey, thanks for
