Family-owned New Rochelle restaurant loses more than $30,000 in brazen burglary

Tens of thousands of dollars stolen from a family-owned business in just minutes. And now the search is on for two people who broke in in the middle of the night. Melody Palmer has that story from New Rochelle. The general manager here at Modern Restaurant and Lounge on Huguenot Street in New Rochelle says this has really left them feeling uneasy. He tells us two people broke through the front doors and took a lot of money in just six minutes. Here's a closer look at the security footage. You can see how those two broke the doors and got inside using some kind of tool first and then kicking out that part of the door. This was around 3.30 Monday morning. We're told the thieves went straight for the office that holds the safe. The general manager says they broke into that safe and grabbed north of $30,000. You feel violated, you know, and your bubble that you're supposed to feel protected in and comfortable gets taken away from you. We're just trying to figure out where the holes were and what we can do to kind of ensure that this doesn't happen again. Police tell us they are actively investigating this burglary.
