By making strategic hires across both the main club and the Toronto Marlies, management aims to create organizational alignment and a streamlined pipeline for prospect development heading into the new season.
Three news go over today's Toronto Maple Leafs have made multiple moves and when we all patiently
wait for the beginning of the regular season more moves continue to happen for this team
including one that is very interesting has some unique implications going forward to
break that down as well as discuss some more updates ahead of this season as this is the
most anticipated season in a very long time we have a ton of other updates surrounding
Gavin McKenna and more lots to go over today before we get into it a very quick reminder
to hit that subscribe button you guys can be sort of support there's more moves continue
to happen for this team we've covered a lot of signings trades rumors and John check it
isn't done making moves he's not done making trades not the making hires and we have some
interesting and interesting array of moves today and it is with the Toronto Marley's
but it has direct implications the Leafs in a few different ways so make sure you stay
tuned for it so we've announced additions to the club's hockey operations and coaching
staff for the 2026-2027 season Chris Bork has been named assistant general manager while
Denver Manderson and Greg Moore have been added as assistant coaches so we'll start
with this and again this isn't per se a direct Leafs hire but it is they all kind of work
together in various things and especially now for a Leafs team that has new management
I mean the Marley's matter more than ever with a lot of the prospects that are coming
up with Ben Danford on the cusp I mean there's a honest Luke Colbert there's a lot of eventual
names gonna have huge huge impacts on this team and they're clearing not clearing house
per se but they're making even more moves once again and the organization from top to
bottom even down to the Marley's now has had some big overhauls this year and speaking
of the Marley's and young defenseman Abus Boudreaux came out this morning and said that
he doesn't think the Leafs are gonna make the playoffs next season because their defense
course too old and there's 84 games in the season now so let us know in the comments
below if you think the Leafs are gonna make the playoffs this coming season comment Y
for yes and for no let us know in the comments but yes to the new hires this morning it sounds
like the Leafs organization as a whole are finalizing what the staff will look like at
all levels going into next season now there's a couple interesting hires here Moore is actually
returning to the organization he went off to work with the US developmental program
so he has been with the organization before and actually was working with the Marley's
before so he returns and they're slowly rounding out again the coaching staff of the Toronto
Marley's headline by Steve Sullivan who is returning to the Marley's but this time as
a head coach and then Manderson as well who is it's a very interesting story with him
too he's done some work in the OHL different levels and now he's returning to the Marley's
too so again they're starting to kind of finalize and round out some of their different
positions there at all levels because again we I don't think it really comes as a surprise
that you know John Chica was gonna come in here and bring a lot of his own guys and guys
that he probably knows from different areas to to kind of round out his staff because
he wants alignment through the organization and that goes with the Marley's too because
all the prospects are gonna be there with the Marley's right so they are really hammering
that home and there's a big emphasis here with some of these hires especially too with
you know pro scouting I've learned this you know summer as we've all seen pro scouting
which is an area that they needed to improve in and just an overall pipeline where hey
everybody needs to be doing the same thing there is you know we're gonna hammer home
this winning formula which is we're all on the same page we're all doing the same thing
so when prospects are called up to and you know different players are traded to the team
they kind of know what's going on right so I do like it and they're continuing to make
some moves.
Yeah and obviously again there's a lot of other names here we can dive into some more
names that have started to come up and the Maples have hired Jeremiah Crowe as director
of player personnel now we covered him in a video a couple of weeks ago so it's nice
to see that they hired him as this is obviously a lease move as director of player personnel
that's replacing the former director of player all these names in the move specifically that
actually the roles that they have on a day-to-day basis is not super open to the public but
we know that they do have a lot of impacts and Chris Bork will also serve as the head
of college recruitment for the Toronto Maple Leafs and then Denver Manderson will serve
as the director of minor league development for the Leafs so of course there is moves
to the Leafs as well here and all this basically works together to help with everything from
top to bottom whether that's in some cases like free agency recruiting all this stuff
matters more than you know the public tends to see and obviously we know the moves like
Jim Hill are gonna headline everything and John Czajka at the end of the day here these
are pretty serious moves that go to show how they aren't afraid to completely change
everything now Jeremiah Crow has spent the last nine years with Buffalo serving as director
of pro scouting over the last four seasons and this is the name I think that is the most
important out of these of course we can look at the Marlies moves you can look at the Leafs
moves in general this is the one that is interesting especially when you look at some of the drafting
track record and it kind of the way that that organization over in Buffalo was affected
by Jeremiah Crow yeah again I'm gonna keep using the word like they want alignment they
said it from the start and I love it because I think to win in this league you do need
alignment look at the teams that have won Carolina they're all on the same page you
know ownership to management they trust each other management to coaching trust each other
and the players are bought into the system they all trust each other and it goes you
know top bottom bottom up right so I think the Leafs are trying to build that and there's
a lot that goes on behind the scenes and again I think it's just making a cleaner you know
a pipeline here between different you know parts of the organization I don't want to
get into all the lingo that like you know we were talking about earlier this offseason
when Keith Pelly was talking and again get a microphone out of that guy's hands but you
know I don't want to get into all of that stuff but stuff like that is important at
times in an organization right so that was the one thing that I took out of that press
conference that actually did make sense but you know Jeremiah Crow is gonna be a big factor
in that too I want to get to a couple tweets here from Jeff Follett too because you know
he was talking a little bit about how you know Chris Bork used to be a Toronto Maple
Leaf scout he's gonna be you know handling a couple different things now he's now the
Marley's assistant GM and head of college recruitment we know that you know last year
in the last couple years college has been a big thing for the Leafs right and recruitment
there and you know where they didn't have the prospects coming out of the O or the W
or you know the CHL as a whole or they didn't have draft picks like they were going the
college route and signing maybe you know a little bit older guys but look at Luke Hames
like that worked out beautifully and he was a big factor into their Calder Cup win so
he's gonna be handling a bunch of that stuff as well which is again been a big factor for
the Leafs over the last couple of years Steve Sullivan staff is you know been complete essentially
at this point with Manderson he's bringing experience from different levels the OHL working
in the US as well director of minor league development with the big club too so again
just this pipeline of like everything is going to be in alignment which again I like and listen a
lot of this stuff we're not gonna see the fruits of their labor for probably a couple years at
this point right but it's nice to at least see that you know they're trying to build something
that can last and is sustainable here and we need to see them play on the ice too right like
that is not lost on us too so some interesting stuff on Greg Moore there too so we'll see how
it all plays out but I do like the fact that you know again the only thing I took out of that
initial press conference after the season ended was we need to be in alignment the best clubs
in the world are all in alignment and there was none of that you could tell especially the last
couple of years very disjointed and it looks like they're moving more towards that now is it
gonna work out it's very hard to win a championship in the NHL of course but I think if you're all on
the same page and you're making moves and there's a reason and there's conviction behind these moves
that you know you're not gonna hit on everything but at the end of the day you're moving in the
same direction together so you know at least they can have that there's a lot of rumblings about
Evan Gold being the new Brandon Pridham hasn't happened yet we'll have to kind of wait and see
we had a video on that a while ago so sure a lot of reports all summer and let's keep in mind again
ever since Brandon Pridham left they haven't necessarily filled his role directly but it is
gonna be interesting to see what happens between I mean again all the talk about Evan Gold I'll
even talk about just the team in general Jim Hiller that's one of the biggest I think question
marks this season and one of the things that haven't been talked about a lot I know a lot
of people on Twitter non Leafs fans are talking about how Jim Hiller is already the worst coach
in the NHL and all that stuff any any final thoughts here it's the end of the day here all
these little moves matter it's just it is also the drive part of the opposite yeah I don't know
about the worst coach in the NHL I mean maybe we have to see them play right we don't know right
so we have to see them play I'm excited for the season most anticipated season in a long long time
I think at this point and it's a lot of question marks right what does Gavin McKenna do what's his
usage look like you know how's Jim Hiller as a head coach yes familiarity with some of the players
from before right like there's a lot of question marks of course going into this season but I like
the fact that they're all kind of on the same page and they're all working towards the same
goal right so that to me is is the hope that I'm hanging on to right now because with that I think
that you can win in this league so that has always been the biggest thing for me and I've been
talking about that for years so you look at the Panthers you look at the Hurricanes you look at
even the Vegas Golden Knights right like they're all working towards the same thing so it's gonna
be interesting to see what happens worst coach I don't know about that yeah well we'll see how
that works out I do have concerns about the blue line still that's for sure but we'll see if they
have anything else up their sleeve because it's gonna slow down now over the next couple of weeks
months at this point but it could ramp up before the season starts again yeah let us know down
below what your thoughts are and honestly only a month away or so from the regular season which
sounds a little bit crazy the truth hey guys watching
