Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video provides a tour of a duck breeding and rearing facility, showcasing various species of ducklings in brooders and adult birds in pens. The narrator discusses daily maintenance routines, the challenges of managing young birds during storms, and the seasonal transition of the adult ducks' plumage.
We've got the green-winged teals. One was born like four days ago
and one born yesterday.
The other ones are obviously older.
And I basically have to clean these bins every day.
This one's due because it's
the morning.
Huh?
What are you guys doing?
Cinnamon teals.
You would be outside
but the Ruddy's are in the brooder.
Taking up space.
There's some more cinnamon teal.
We're all gonna freak out.
There's a few different gauges in here.
You can unplug your light again.
It was cold last night.
And a couple birds that look a little on the wet side, so I just assume hit the light and let them dry off better.
I haven't done any of the morning routine. I figured I'd film first and I can take care of water changes and stuff. I do it every morning.
Here's a couple Ruddy's.
And you can see that
they have swimming water.
It's only like a few inches deep.
And I put this little
ramp here so they can slide up and down easier.
And usually they're in the water, but
apparently
they're done for the morning.
Let's see what else we got going on.
Yep, and these are the first of the babies we hatched for the season way back.
Get the light off of here.
There we go.
So this is mostly mandarins.
A few wood ducks.
There's a few cinnamon teal in here.
There's a couple cinnamons right there.
I forget, there's maybe four,
five.
I don't really remember.
And then main pen.
Here's the rain we've had in the past week.
It's been raining like crazy.
Trying to see if I can see a baby in here.
So I had left two green wings in here.
One ended up dying. I took the other one out.
And I had left a hen with cinnamon with her baby a few couple weeks ago.
And another one had four that I left in there. That four died, I guess.
Everybody was in here one night and the next day
there's one
dead bird and four missing.
Let's see if I can
see the baby.
I haven't looked in here yet today.
Still really hard to find.
Let me walk in and see if I can find them.
He was there yesterday. I think it's been a couple weeks now.
It was weird because they were all eating, following mom around. We had a wicked storm and the next day
those four were missing. All right, let's see if I can see.
Let's see that one kicking around with her mouth open. I'll know.
I hate when I don't find them right away.
But that doesn't really mean much.
I've got a weed in here now that nesting season's over.
They hide and you just can't find them. I did see him last night.
I'll probably see him later when I'm changing waters and all that stuff.
There he is. I see him.
Get out of the way.
All right, so
he's following a green wing.
I know that's a cinnamon.
Anyway, he's still in here.
Let's see next.
Here.
What are you guys up to? I got to put my new shade tarp on here.
Finally came in a week later.
You can see most of the birds are losing their colors.
Well,
the ruddy still look good, but they're a different timing.
And the harlequin's starting to lose his a little bit.
The bufflehead.
The Drake's lost his colors, pretty much all of them. Let's see what's going on with you guys. You ready for breakfast?
Yep, ready for breakfast. You can see that pink band. That's the one we raised last year, the ruddy duck.
So hopefully she'll breed next year.
Yeah, because one of those males is not a male. I wish I would have
marked it when it first started happening.
But now I don't know.
Now I can weed in here because nobody's gonna nest in here anymore either.
I let the weeds grow
for them to nest in.
It's all right. You're gonna get new shade later.
Try these new shade.
I think I bought a 70% or 90% I forget.
But it's been raining for the past
four days or whatever.
On and off a lot.
So I haven't bothered to put it up.
As you can see, it's overgrown like crazy. It's got to get weeded.
Next time you see it, it'll be all cleaned out.
Couple eggs are still good in the incubator.
Those hatched, that's the last ones of the year.
