In sports news now the Boston Red Sox have won 14 games in a row and they're
looking to tie a franchise record tonight. 22 News reporter Nick Antonakis
joins us live in studio now with how the team can make history. Yeah Julia the
Red Sox are red hot and they're on a hunt for their 15th straight win tonight.
Boston snapped the Baltimore Orioles seven-game win streak last night beating
them six to five and extending their own win streak to 14. Now the Red Sox are in
position to make history. Another win tonight and the Red Sox tie their
franchise record for the longest winning streak in team history. To find the last
time the Red Sox did something like that you'd have to turn the clock back 80
years to the Red Sox 1946 squad led by Ted Williams that won 15 straight games.
There's a lot of strong opinions from fans. The deciding factor in those takes
is what team they're a fan of. In the beginning of the season everyone was
like oh boy you know this is not gonna be good but with the last 14 games they
have turned it around. I'm not sure where they got the inspiration from but they
definitely picked up in getting their game where it should be. They're still
barely above 500 I'm a Yankees fan so we'll see how it goes in October but
I'll see not overreacting it's only 14. Before June 24th Boston went 32 and 46
that's 14 games below 500. Since then they've made a complete 180 putting up a
19 and 2 record. Now again with a win tonight Boston can tie their winning
streak record. First pitch for that game against the Orioles is at 7 10 p.m.
