Beautiful today; severe storm risk for Tuesday across Long Island

Again, as you say, it's just too much water in such a little time. Yeah, there's not much you can do when you're getting rainfall rates of about 2 inches per 30 minutes. And no storm drain can keep up with that. And in places like Lenore South Shore, you do deal with flooding. That wasn't the case this time around. It just rained so heavy. And there's a chance that we get some of that as we go towards Tuesday evening. That's another round of storms that we're going to be watching. So we're going to enjoy today. Today's going to be near perfect. Sunshine, low humidity. Already looking out from the Fire Island Lighthouse out towards the east. Watching that sunrise this morning. It's a gorgeous store tour day. Light and comfortable winds and beautiful weather right now at 56. Hampton Bay is 56, Bridgehampton 59, Shirley 63 degrees right now in Farmingdale. So you're out the door. Today looks great. Lots of sunshine, a high right around 80 degrees with low humidity and comfortable weather conditions. Now we have changes on the way. So enjoy today. And if you have plans for your Tuesday, especially during Tuesday afternoon, you may have to change some of those plans. There's a potential of some severe to strong thunderstorms. We do have the potential winds gusting near 60 miles per hour. And we'll watch some strong winds developing. And there's a slight chance around the tri-state region that we see one or two tornadoes once again. So, yeah, we're watching severe weather developing. And you can see here as we go towards around noontime, there will be the potential of some heavier downpours coming on through, especially around 5 to 7 o'clock. Watch this line coming on through the areas of yellow and red. Those are some areas of heavy rain, also some thunderstorms. So we need to be weather aware for your Tuesday afternoon for heavy rain. Some of that could lead to some localized street flooding and some strong gusty winds, which could lead to some trees down and some power outages as well. And as we go towards Tuesday night, we kind of get a little bit of a low, and there's a chance of some showers for Wednesday morning. All right, so here's what we have for today. Sunshine, gorgeous, 70s to around 80 degrees, low humidity, nice, dry, and comfortable. You can open up the windows, let some of that fresh air in. We are looking at lows in the 60s to around 70 overnight, increasing clouds. It's dry overnight. We're watching the storms, especially during the afternoon hours. We're watching the threat of those thunderstorms, some heavy rain, and some gusty winds. Chances of some showers Wednesday morning, then sunshine Wednesday afternoon. Sunny skies right now Thursday, Friday. We're going to keep the weekend dry with high temperatures around 80 to 85. All right, good news there.
