When that yellow 4 car pulled out to qualify for the 1995 Daytona 500, the sound it made with Boyd Butler's "Dr. Gas" exhaust absolutely turned the motorsports world upside down. What would become known as the "x pipe" was now on the public stage and would soon infiltrate the automotive aftermarket. What most DON'T know is HOW Boyd actually did this prior to Daytona '95. Lucky for us he took photos of everything on those snowy February days at the Morgan McClure Motorsports shop in Abingdon VA. At that time these photos would have been top secret. 30 years later we can finally see them! This is the story of how a literal rocket scientist from Utah completely defined a generation of the NASCAR engine soundtrack.
