Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video features a series of drag races at Texas 2K between the new 2026 Corvette ZR1X and the Tesla Model S Plaid. Despite the Tesla's electric acceleration and the rising heat affecting the Corvette's internal combustion engine, the ZR1X consistently dominates the track, winning three consecutive races against three different Plaid vehicles.
Well, guys, here you have it.
The first ever drag race between the all new ZR1X
and the Tesla Model S Plaid.
Thank you for setting this race up.
Yeah, man.
What do you think's about to happen?
It's getting hotter.
The car's getting slower.
I still think I could break a nine flat.
Yeah.
And you know Tesla can't do that.
So I think I got it.
You might be like, get me off the light and win.
It's possible.
You've got a 000 light, and I could not do so good.
You could win.
Fair enough, fair enough.
Anything could happen.
The Tesla is pretty much, I mean,
you put it in cheetah stance and you go, there's not much to it.
Although, is the ZR1X pretty easy to launch?
They're very easy.
Very, very easy.
Here we go.
The 2026 Corvette ZR1X with a 5.5 liter twin turbocharged
V8, the world's largest production turbochargers
on any vehicle, a hybrid electric powertrain
at the front axle, making a combined 1,250 horsepower,
capable of running 0 to 60 in 1.7 seconds,
and the quarter mile in 8.6.
In fact, we are racing Brooks Dragtimes over there,
who actually just ran an 8.7 in the real world.
So we know this is capable of some absolutely insane times.
Coming over to the Tesla Model S Plaid,
a car I'm very familiar with, as it was my daily for a long time,
1,020 horsepower, 1,050 pound feet of torque,
0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds.
The quarter mile, about 9.293.
So it's really going to come down to what the DA is like,
whether the ZR1 heat soaks or not, as well as reaction times.
What do you guys think?
Model S Plaid or ZR1?
Here we go in drag strip mode.
Peak performance is ready.
96% battery after putting it in drag strip mode.
Let's go ahead and turn this off right now.
Make sure it doesn't kill too much battery.
Let's do it.
Here we go.
Tesla Model S Plaid versus ZR1X at Texas 2K.
We're following Peter, the owner of Texas 2K,
who actually owns that beautiful ZR1X,
following behind Brooks Dragtimes,
who is driving the ZR1X.
This should be pretty darn awesome.
Hello, hello.
I think this is going to go down.
You know, if we were on the first race when it was colder,
I think the ZR1X for sure would win.
But the DA is getting worse and worse.
And that car's-
The DA doesn't matter for you, but it definitely does for him.
But it does for him.
And the car seems like it's heat soaking a bit run after run.
So it might be really close.
All right.
I hope it wins.
You hope it wins?
Of course.
Good luck anyway, Brooks.
Thank you.
First time ever racing at Texas 2K.
I've been here a bunch as a spectator filming,
but I've never actually raced.
He's got to do a burnout.
I don't have to do anything at all, basically.
Wow, this track is sticky.
Here we go, slowly staging.
Brooks doing a crazy burnout.
So once he's pre-stages,
he's got seven seconds to get into the staging.
Then three yellows, then a green.
I'm going to go on the, probably the third yellow.
Normally I'd go on a second yellow,
but since we are in a electric car,
let's go ahead and put it into cheetah stance.
There we go.
Preparing for launch.
I'm off.
I gotta be done before the next time.
Wow, he cooked me.
Hello, thinking that would be better
for an electric car versus an ICE car,
but I'm going to have to leave at the second yellow
because the 0.2 reaction time is not great.
What just happened?
I don't know, man.
I don't know what just happened.
I'm about to get roasted by every Tesla owner on the planet.
I never even saw you.
Yeah, so I left.
Did you race or no?
I did race.
It turns out I did race and it's on film.
I left a 10th after you, which is slow, not crazy.
And then we looked at the draggy
and the 60 to 130 is the second slow.
Yeah, and your mile an hour is off by 10.
Which is very interesting.
So we're thinking maybe
because it has 70 something thousand miles on it
and it was at 85%, 141 just doesn't seem right.
So Peter made an announcement,
the owner of Texas 2K over the loudspeaker
and he got two other plaids.
So we're going to run three different plaids
to see if they can beat the ZR1X.
We're doing our best out here to get the best race.
100%.
Yeah, so we got another plaid coming,
one at the supercharger.
Definitely thanks to Chris from Texas Racing.
We appreciate it, but we got to park it
and get some different ones out here.
What was your zero to 60?
1.7.
Unbelievable.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
You're like a slingshot right by you.
You did zero to 60 in 2.0.
True, pretty quick.
Not as good as 1.7.
No, it's not, seriously.
All right, I'll see you out there
for the next couple of races.
This is the power of Texas 2K right here.
Peter made an announcement over the loudspeaker.
Do any spectators have any Model S plaids available?
And they brought us two.
So this one's at 88% state of charge.
It's got lower mileage on it, a little bit newer,
hopefully a much closer race against the ZR1X.
It's also gotten a lot hotter now,
which is going to harm the Corvette,
but not so much the Tesla.
Round two, Tesla Model S plaid versus ZR1X.
We're now in a different Model S plaid
with only 12,000 miles on it and a higher state of charge.
So this should give a better representation
of what the plaid is capable of.
I'm still pretty positive the ZR1X is going to win
almost no matter what.
But it is a lot hotter right now.
So I guess we will see.
We have red-lighting.
Pro-line reaction.
Oh, man.
Oh, yeah, ZR1X.
There's no way a plaid is beating that thing.
I even read lit by 9 1,000th of a second and he still beat me.
That was a fun race though.
Huge thanks to Peter from Texas 2K for allowing this to happen.
Texas Racing Channel, Drag Times, racing the new king of the drag strip, the ZR1X.
I'm still trying to get an allocation for one of these, but I am struggling.
So that just ran a 9.7 at 1.47.
I honestly don't know why this thing is running so slow, but I mean, he ran an 8.88.
So no matter what, this plaid isn't going to run faster than a 9.2 or a 9.3.
Good job ZR1X.
Well, I can't believe it, but this is the third Tesla Model S plaid we are racing against
the ZR1 to try to get a 9.3 and make it a little bit closer.
It's getting even hotter.
Even still, he's ran 8.8 consistently all day, 1.74 second, zero to 60, which is absolutely
insane.
He's in the one threes for the 60 foot time.
Hopefully this thing won't spin.
We'll get a good launch.
All right, here we go.
Final race.
It's hot.
I turned the AC off on this one.
So 9.4 at 148 miles an hour for the Tesla versus 8.957.
This ZR1X is so consistent.
It's actually insane.
So I mean, look, clear victor, three wins in a row for the ZR1X.
What a car.
Special thanks to Peter from Texas 2K for making this possible, as well as Texas Racing
Channel, Drag Times as well.
Hope you guys enjoyed today's video.

I look forward to seeing you next time.
