Solo Backpacking to California's Most Beautiful Lake

Welcome back guys. In this week's video we're hiking up to Thousand Islands Lake. It's probably one of the most beautiful lakes in California. We're going to camp there for the night, do some fishing, look at the crazy scenery up there, and yeah, hopefully we have a good time. So please subscribe if you're not already. Keep watching, and I hope you guys enjoy this video. Peace. Well guys, there's a pretty big brook trout right here, I think like over a foot long. Just eating and then right when I casted my little fly right here on my Tenkar rod, he went into the grass and now I can't find him, but there should be more opportunities on the way up and then I brought my big pole to fish at Thousand Island Lakes too, so hopefully we catch something. Boom. Caught one. And I think this one is a brown trout, or I don't think it's a brook trout, I think it's a brown trout. Beautiful, good sized one, going to let this one go because we're not cooking anything on this trip, but I mean there's tons of them in this little lake right here, right before Thousand Island Lake. It's insane. But yeah, I'm going to go ahead and let this guy go. Well guys, after nine and a half miles we finally made it to camp. That was probably the hardest hike I think I've done so far. Just so much elevation right off the bat, but I mean I think we picked out a pretty good campsite, so yeah, let's get set up. You can't let all these bugs in, so many mosquitoes out. I'm going to take a little nap guys. Gosh, I just woke up from like a two hour nap. I got about three hours or two hours left of sunlight, so I'm going to go ahead and cook some dinner and then we're going to go ahead and set up my rod and try to go fish for like an hour or so afterwards. Some guys right here were fly fishing and they caught a few fish, so you know, I'm hopeful. Huge lake and it's pretty windy out, so we'll just have to see, but yeah, let's get this dinner going. I think we're doing a chicken alfredo tonight. Also peaked the new shoes. My girlfriend got them for my birthday. Alright guys, let's let that sit for ten minutes. That tastes so good. Isn't this mountain huge? I think I just tied the most perfect knot. I didn't even have to cut it or anything. Unfortunately, we did not catch a fish here. I mean, we caught one earlier if that counts, but I think it's just too windy right now. Like, my freaking spoon was just going all over the place. It was, it was, it was just a mess. And the mosquitoes down there were going crazy on me. But yeah, I think I'm just going to hang out until sunset. Like, the sun's getting pretty low right now and let's hope it's pretty because it's going to look sick with this background. Well guys, it's been a long day and with no sunset, I think I'm going to head to bed early. It's like eight o'clock right now. I'm going to try to wake up at five and hopefully catch the sunrise. And then yeah, we're going to try to get out of here early. So, sleep tight guys. Good morning guys. I slept so good last night, but it was freezing. I mean, I woke up this morning and everything was covered in frost. I'm going to cook some breakfast, make a little coffee, and yeah, wait for the sun to come up before I start packing up and then we're going to head on out of here. So, hopefully it doesn't take too long to hike back down. Oh yeah, it's burning hot. Which is how I like it. Shh. Well guys, this is probably one of the most beautiful campsites that I've had, but it's time to head out sadly. Well guys, we're back at the car and I'm starting to feel all the mosquito bites.
