Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe speaker takes a spontaneous trip to Mount Hood with photographer Asami Kiyuka to test his knee recovery and new camera gear. The visit is a nostalgic return to a place where he spent his youth learning halfpipe tricks, focusing on creative filming, casual riding, and reconnecting with the mountain without the pressure of a strict agenda.
I was sitting in Maui and I was kind of looking at the weather window at Hood.
I know it was like a lower snow year, but the models were looking good. It looks sunny,
so I kind of pulled the trigger last minute. Ended up calling Isami Kiyuka. I've met him a couple
times before, but we'd never really been on a trip together, and we pretty much got right into it.
It was summer solstice. We arrived a little bit late, but we got set up for the next day,
and then kind of 6 p.m. decided to hike up. 32 liters. If it doesn't fit, don't bring it.
This is so sick. Yes, the premise of this trip was pretty much
go see if the knee works, go do my first shoot with the Mission One Pro.
We have the iOS. It's getting worked on at Duclos, and we've been testing the
wireless mic system. Where are there some jumps at? **** yeah. There you go. Oh, no, it's good.
It's good. Good training. It's good training. I've done a lot of heavy packs. Dude, honestly,
pretty mellow for spending a day right here. I think I'm going to shoot it right around here
and try and layer the three rock, snow, and sun in the frame. We ended up sessioning this jump.
It was my first first run since like April 27th, and really my first park runs in a long time
since Mammoth in January because I kind of tweaked my knee in February. I saw him. He shot
some really insane. He's just like such a creative, like so many rad portraits, so many unique
photo options on the jumps. That jump was like miniature, small, dirty, gross,
and he did such a good job of just making it look cool. Yeah, it's over here.
We found it. We lost the GoPro last night. We left it overnight. Beautiful view to be camping
out for a GoPro. Here comes Fanny. I got 41 percent. All right, dude, we got 31 percent.
41. 41? Okay. Well, we went on a little scramble to find our freaking GoPro we left up here last
night, but yeah, we're all good, and it looks like we're heading to the half pipe.
Scotty doesn't know it, but I hired him as my coach today, so we're gonna go find Scotty and
go bug him. It is definitely just such a special place. I've been coming there for 20 years.
First, we came up as a camper when I was 12. That kind of led into going up there almost every summer
through my 20s and learned most of the tricks I have in the half pipe. I remember trying front
12s there back in the day, and I bodied my ankle, and I don't know. It was cool to see all the new
crew up there as well because I have an idea of what they're going through in their head
just from being in that position 10, 15 years ago, but it's really cool to kind of be up there,
no pressure, just having fun these days. Hello. Thank you. I was thinking we'd get one shot with
Riboo, you know. I was thinking of trying the new 4K240. We have an ND64 on. It's too dark.
Oh, look at the ladybird. There's a ladybug right there. That's beautiful, but yeah,
that's what we're going, and then I got a pole, but this is for the audio. We're just going to
run. It's the 32-bit float straight out of the camera, no windscreens, no nothing. I was having
issues with my wireless mics earlier. Okay, I'm on low. I'm low. I used actually the sport image
tuning, and yep, this is a one and done.
That was it.
Oh, dude. Hey. Everything work out? Dude, so good. Thanks for it. We're in sport mode.
Sick. You ready? Yeah. You're going double. You're going double. Let's ******* go. You're
trying to double. I'm trying to double. Dude, what? No, I've been waiting for you to hit it.
I'm serious. I was like, I want to see Sean hit it. Okay, do you have to go way left,
or just kind of straight ahead? I've cut out the wall pretty good, so I just like hug the
wall as soon as you get to the wall, and then kind of like pop like middle to left, kind of.
That was nuts. I haven't really been to Hood with no agenda in a long time, and it was a really fun
trip. Just Asami and I kind of vibing, doing whatever, shooting photos, having a good time,
and yeah, I can't wait to see where these next few weeks go. We'll be down in Chile next time
we upload to YouTube, and we got a couple rad series coming out, so thank you guys for the
support, and yeah, appreciate all of the love and all of the shares and comments and all the above.
Thank you, and peace out.
