Well, last night, Manatee County deputies got into the water to help a suspect who
was trying to get away from them. And deputies ended up arresting two 17
year olds. FOX 13's Kimberly Cruz on that reports. It all started with a
stolen car reported from outside the area. The car was stolen out of Largo.
And when Manatee County deputies tried to stop them, the teens ended up
needing their own rescue. On Wednesday night, just before 9 30 Manatee County
deputies spotted a Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen by the Largo
Police Department. Deputies found it in the parking lot of Sonic off of U. S.
301 North. As they tried to pull the car over, the car took off and was
later found abandoned off of 80th Avenue East. That's when deputies with
the aviation unit found the suspects running toward the river. The two teens
got into the water trying to escape, but deputies used a jumbo offered by a
resident to get into the water, helping one suspect who appeared to be on the
verge of drowning from eyes in the sky. The aviation unit tracked the other
teen into the mangroves, where deputies caught up to a series of bad decisions,
stole a car, committing burglaries, running from deputies, jumping into
water that they're unfamiliar with. We're just fortunate that it all turned
out to where nobody was injured. Deputies were at risk trying to rescue
him. Now they have to pay the consequences. Both suspects are only 17
years old. During an interview, one of the teens confessed to stealing the car
and committing multiple vehicle burglaries in Largo. The teens have been
arrested and face multiple charges, and more are expected from the Largo
Police Department in Manatee County. Kimberly Kuizon FOX 13 news.
