Experts analyze various police encounters to decode human behavior, focusing on the distinction between stress and deception in a youth interrogation, the performative nature of \"sovereign citizen\" tropes for social media fame, and the psychological detachment seen in suspects who treat incarceration as a social status symbol or a viral opportunity.
We had the best time doing the initial breakdown of the body language and behavior in this video
and we decided we'd revisit some of our favorite moments from it.
That's the worst part about it though.
I don't know what information hangin' out.
Hey Colt, what's going on bud?
So did your dad kind of explain everything to you?
Said something about school shooting.
Shooting at the school.
Did you say something about school shooting?
I just told him, I don't know what.
Maybe they misheard somebody else.
I'll never say I'm a threat of a shooting.
He never ever said.
I swear.
Do you use Discord?
Discord?
Yes sir.
I used to.
I don't have it anymore.
When's the last time you used it?
I don't know, like a few months ago.
Really?
Was it at Traditions?
Or was it here?
No, it was at Traditions because...
And that discord account that I had, I had deleted it before.
Because...
Before you moved here?
Yeah, because I think it got like...
It had a password for it or something.
Like I had to click on a link and somebody...
Have you heard anybody on Discord when you were using it say something like that?
Do you remember?
Like, at that time?
Yeah.
Um, I don't think so.
I don't think I ever had anybody that.
Never?
And I mean, I'm not trying to get anybody hemmed up.
But like, this is some serious stuff.
Yeah, I know.
Oh, he knows how serious it is.
Trust me.
Because I'd hate to...
You know, my boss was leaving like, you know,
I don't know how old this information is.
And if you want to wait till Monday and follow up.
I was like, nah, I'd rather do it in the afternoon.
So would we.
Because God forbid something happened and I didn't do my job, that'd be...
That I'd feel pretty bad about that.
So I just want to make sure you understand that if something like that happened
or you hear something like that, report it.
Yeah.
And tell your dad.
All right, Chase, what do you got?
All right, so right away, he's grabbing the doorframe.
He grabs the chair for security.
He's kind of hiding behind the chair.
He's avoiding eye contact.
There's genital protection where we do this thing over our groin.
Some people in body language call this the fig leaf gesture.
Then there's the arm swing going back and forth,
just trying to burn off energy.
Then the hands go into pockets.
And there's three ways we can put our hands into our pockets
that convey different information.
So when they enter the pockets all the way,
there's typically a lack of confidence and sometimes insecurity.
And we tell you all the time to look for these clusters
and just in the first few seconds of this,
it's a humongous cluster that spells out insecurity and lack of confidence.
And the swaying that we're seeing here in this video is an expenditure gesture.
It's burning off adrenaline.
It's too much for the body to handle at the moment.
And this is nervousness.
Then he repeats part of the question about the discord.
Do you use discord?
Discord?
Yes, sir.
This behavior is really concerning because there's a pile of clusters here.
So when you see this behavior like this all by itself,
somebody repeats a question all by itself,
and there's not some giant mountain of other things,
it's probably innocuous.
But in a situation that's serious like this,
it's time to go all in.
This is where you would really calmly make a confrontation
and launch into what we call interrogation mode,
especially in situations like this.
Mark, where do you go?
Yeah, so totally agree.
The child here is barriered behind that kind of doorpost, essentially.
But the father guides him out.
So the father sends out the kid first.
He then barriers behind the chair.
The father removes the chair.
So we've got a father here who's potentially not being particularly protective of the son.
In this situation, he's removing all those barriers that the son wants to put there.
He therefore puts the focus directly onto the kid.
I believe in this video, he sits down pretty soon, focuses on the kid.
Well, of course, yes, they have come round to talk to the kid.
But in some ways, to then put the kid right out front,
it's an interesting position for a parent.
We get, Greg, what you might call chained elephant happening there.
Now, you know, we've got to put in the possibility that you'd say possibility,
possibility that you often get that kind of swinging
side to side or backwards and forwards with ASD.
Might it be?
Might it be that?
Well, it might be.
But it also might exactly be what Chase is talking about there,
which is the expenditure of energy.
So all the time we're trying to pick up what are the other clues that go with it?
Let's see.
Let's see how much that swinging from side to side continues.
Let's look at the father's response to that because the father knows the kid.
You know, what's the father doing around that?
And the hands buried in the pockets.
Look, everything that you were talking about there,
Chase, just one other idea there for the swinging from side to side.
I frankly don't think it's likely to be that.
I'm not seeing some other indicators there,
but we've always got to put them in because is it is it stemming?
Is it self-stimulation going on?
Already for me, interesting what the father is doing around this son
who's in a vulnerable situation talking to the police.
Greg, what do you got on this one?
Yeah.
So let's also give him the benefit of a doubt,
because if I walk up and I say, hey, you little ----,
are you going to shoot up a school?
What do you think a kid's going to do?
It's going to feel stress and he should feel stress.
Anytime a police officer is involved in a young child's life.
This is a kid who's 13.
That kid should feel some stress.
If he doesn't, I'd be concerned as well.
So all the stuff we're talking about,
Chase, I love the fact you're pointing out all these clusters.
I bought a handgun from a guy one time.
You know, you meet up, you have to exchange information, all that.
And I remember a really nice gun that was reasonably priced.
And I asked this kid, he was about 21.
Would you shoot anybody with this kid?
And you can imagine coming from me how this kid took that.
You could see him just go pale and everything.
And I was like, I could tell the kid hadn't done anything.
But imagine if you're in the position where someone is older,
has more presence, has a gun,
all that kind of stuff is going to cause you to jack up.
So we expect it.
What we don't expect are a couple of deceptive behaviors.
Now, when we say there's no such thing as body language of deception,
I'm not talking about body language.
I love he's doing the sway, the chained elephant,
because we can watch it for cadence and see shifts.
When he says something about shooting up a school.
He said something about shooting up a school.
That's a Southern, very much a Georgia speech pattern.
So I'm not going to take anything away from that.
But, but.
So he's stressed, he's adapting, he's got low eye contact.
All that might be a 14-year-old.
Discord?
Yes, sir.
Discord?
Yes, sir.
Oh, I'm used to it.
I don't have it anymore.
And then suddenly he knows a hell of a lot about Discord.
He starts talking about it getting hacked and all that kind of stuff.
He didn't even know what Discord was at the beginning of the question.
That, for me, is a red flag.
That, for me, would have me going, hold on a second, kid.
You said you didn't know what Discord was.
You're acting like you didn't know what it was.
So tell me about your Discord.
Tell me about every time you've touched it.
I would go after him there.
And of course, then you'd see this weight rate increase or decrease.
You might break down, but who knows?
We've seen this in a lot of people.
We see people who are nervous because of authority.
But what we don't typically see is them trying to avoid guilty knowledge.
while pretending all of that is information.
And most people are still swallowing it like it's gospel.
I've spent years studying propaganda and psychological operations and human behavior.
And I will tell you this plainly.
The media is not here to tell you the truth.
It's here to shape your truth without you even realizing it.
Every network, every outlet, left or right or center,
they are all playing the exact same game.
Keep you emotionally hijacked, cognitively blind,
and addicted to narratives engineered by people
who have zero interest in informing you at all.
So they manufacture a bunch of division.
They amplify lies and they bury stories that threaten their control.
This is not journalism.
This is mass psychological warfare.
This is why we use Ground News.
It is not just a news app.
It is a tactical weapon for seeing through all this fog.
Ground News pulls in all these stories from every source,
whether it's liberal or conservative or state-run,
corporate-owned, billionaire-owned.
And they show you these biases and the ownership of who
owns the outlet that wrote that article, the spin.
And then finally, my favorite is what is being left out of that article?
You know, I always talk about, let's look for what's missing.
They do that at Ground News.
So you're going to watch these narratives fracture in real time.
You're going to be able to spot manipulation like it is lit up in neon.
And once you see how disgustingly coordinated all this stuff is,
you're not going to be able to unsee it.
The behavior panel never really partners with very many brands,
but Ground News is way different.
It puts the power back into people's hands instead of the news.
So go to ground.news.tbp, scan the QR code or hit the link in the description.
We've got you 40% off of the same plan that we use.
So don't keep trusting the people reading scripts for billionaires.
Stop being programmed and start seeing the depth of what is actually going on.
Scott, what do you got?
Excellent.
I think this is a great example of watching someone try to control their stress
because he's introduced to this stress like immediately.
It's like almost like you would be familiar with, Mark, coming out on stage,
you know, because he's in the house.
His dad says, get out here.
The cops are here.
They want to talk to you.
He comes outside.
He's just standing there, you know.
So we see that's when he starts going back and forth
and trying to get rid of that built up stress and energy.
So he's adapting at that point.
He's so rigid during all this, as you would be.
That's understandable.
Understandably, he's really, really rigid.
And you can see how high up his shoulders are.
That's how tense he is.
His voice at the beginning now, it's really, really strong.
It's really high.
Because compared to the way it is at the end.
That's because when you get stressed like that,
your larynx gets stressed because your throat tightens up a little bit.
You're trying not to breathe too weird.
He's thinking about trying to look normal because he's nervous.
And that makes it even worse because it starts this snowball effect up in your head.
And you start thinking, am I being nervous?
We get all kinds of emails and comments from people saying,
how is somebody going to know if I'm telling the truth or if I'm lying?
Because I get nervous when I talk to normal old people.
I'm always nervous.
There are differences in these types of nervousness that you're seeing.
And when it goes away, when it comes back, when it goes away, it comes back.
So if you're one of those people, don't worry about it.
They'll be able to tell if you're feeling nerves
because you've done something you shouldn't have
or because you're nervous talking to people.
That comes up all the time.
So his volume is good.
His diction is clean and clear.
He's trying to get his message out to make sure these guys believe him.
So that's understandable there.
Then he starts goofing around with something in his front left pocket.
You know, whatever that is, I don't know.
Usually when you got pockets for your guy,
there's something in there and you're stressed,
you're going to goof around with that, be it keys, wallet, whatever it is.
So who knows what he's got in his pockets.
And we're going to see that rocking, going back and forth.
We're going to watch it speed up and slow down
because that lets us know that's a great indicator of his stress going up.
He's got that energy and just starts going back and forth.
And at some points, it gets really small.
And at some points, it's really large.
And we'll watch him as we go through.
And I'll point these out as well.
He starts getting sideways and starts backing up against the wall.
And they've sort of got him cornered in there.
And the part where he talks about where he doesn't know what discord is and then he does,
I think maybe these guys, they see this and they go,
OK, hang on, there might be something here.
Because that should have been a fairly short conversation,
be able to look at him and go, I think everything's OK,
and then move along.
But this lasted a while.
So I think they've got a hint that something isn't right,
but they're just not sure yet.
Because there are a couple of red flags in there,
but there's nothing definitive that you go, OK, something's up.
Something's up with this guy.
You've got to keep checking it out.
And that's what they're doing.
All right, we good?
I think that was his phone in the pocket.
Oh, that makes sense.
Maybe they misheard somebody else.
I'll never say I'm a threat.
He never, ever said.
I swear.
Do you use discord?
Discord?
Yes, sir.
When's the last time you used it?
Really?
Was it at traditions or was it here?
No, it was at traditions because and that just worked out.
But I had, I had deleted it before because.
Before you moved here?
Yeah, because I think it got like,
it had been password pulled or something.
Like I had to click on a link to somebody.
Have you heard anybody on discord when you were using it?
Say something like that?
You remember?
Like at that time?
Yeah.
I don't think so.
I don't think I ever had anybody that.
Never.
And I mean, I'm not trying to get anybody hemmed up,
but like this is some serious stuff.
Yeah, I know.
Oh, he knows how serious it is.
Trust me.
Because I'd hate to, you know, my boss was leaving like,
you know, I don't know how old this information is.
And if you want to wait till Monday and follow up,
I was like, no, I'd rather do it in the afternoon.
So would we.
Because God forbid something happened and I didn't do my job.
That'd be, I'd feel pretty bad about that.
So I just want to make sure you understand
that if something like that happened
or you hear something like that, report it.
Yeah.
Tell your dad.
We're searching it for?
To uncover the VIN.
For what?
Do you have any suspicion of it being stolen
other than no plates?
I do, absolutely.
What's your suspicion of it being stolen, officer?
Hey man, is this your car or what?
You're making this so much harder than it needs to be.
You're f***ing towing it for no reason.
You got your nasty ass shoe on the f***ing wheel.
Yeah.
Get your f***ing shoe off the wheel.
Is this your car?
You're being disrespectful to whoever's f***ing car it is.
Okay, you need to back off my face over there.
I'm not in your face.
You just stuck your f***ing hand in my face.
Bud.
Chill.
Get your f***ing, why is your foot on the wheel?
Why are you doing that?
You're literally doing that to piss me off for no f***ing reason.
Because it's your car?
Doesn't matter.
Is this your car or what?
You're going to scratch those f***ing wheels and have to pay for them.
Yeah.
Well, I don't know what policy is.
Your department's probably going to have to f***ing pay for these thousand dollar wheels.
Go and walk over there, bud.
Keep your f***ing hand out of my face.
Walk over there.
Keep your f***ing hand out of my face.
Walk.
Get out of my face.
Go.
You're walking in my face.
Go before you get...
Don't f***ing touch me.
Go.
I'm not doing s***.
Off my scene.
Get away from my car.
Go.
This ain't your car.
Go.
Your car's back there.
I'm getting you up for a search warrant.
Start moving.
You are approaching me.
You are getting in my face.
Move back.
Get your f***ing hand off me.
Stay off the car.
The rest of you, don't.
Keep your motherf***ing hands off me.
Stay off the car.
Keep your motherf***ing hands off me.
Stay off the car.
Off the car?
You're the one that was on the f***ing car.
Back up.
I ain't touching you.
I'm off the car.
Back up.
I'm f***ing back.
Okay.
Back up.
Start recording this.
Touch me again, motherf***er.
Come push me.
Back up.
Come push me.
F***ing push me for no f***ing reason.
You're putting your hands in my face.
I kept my phone back respectfully.
I wasn't sticking it in your face.
I got your name and that was it.
What's your f***ing badge number?
117.
So like I was saying,
this car is coming to the Gettgar Police Department.
If you're not going to claim ownership of it,
what's going to happen is we're going to get a search warrant.
You're f***ing shoving me.
Why would I want to f***ing make it easy on you?
Okay.
So he's worried about a thousand dollar set of tires for a $473 car.
That's red flag number one.
We're trying to find out how smart this guy isn't.
Do you know what one of the first things I do is every time we watch this?
And I don't always talk about it,
but I always try to spot the movie that somebody thinks that they're in.
That's a great one.
Because it's going to show you how they live.
It's going to show you what they think the future is going to be like.
And this guy right here is the aloof intellectual rebel
who outsmarts all the authority figures.
You know what movie this is?
It's Good Will Hunting.
Without the character growth arc.
That's what it is.
He's got the posture, the false confidence and all that other stuff,
but none of that earned self-awareness.
That earned self-awareness that makes the characters
in the end of these kind of movies a lot more powerful in the end.
So he's stuck in act one.
That's a good call.
So I'm going to take that idea and move it on even further.
He's attending the award ceremony.
And he goes all Will Smith on the whole thing.
Notice that repetition that he does and the escalation.
Keep your mother****** hands off me.
Stay off the car.
Keep your mother****** hands off me.
Stay off the car.
Which is Will Smith's,
keep my wife's name out of your mouth.
And he repeated it again and escalated it.
He does exactly the same routine.
I was like, wow, that's Will Smith.
I don't know whether this is before the Will Smith.
It's got to be after.
This is recent.
This is three months, four months.
Maybe it's back in March.
I think you're right about the Goodwill hunting.
And I think this is him collecting the award
and going Will Smith on the whole thing as well.
But I think there's some real frying a circuit going on in here too, though.
Because, you know, we always talk about loss of verbal fluency.
It's not often we hear people sound like Sylvester the Cat from Looney Tunes.
Hey, man, is this your car or what?
They make all kinds of weird noises.
You don't know what Boo Bird is?
Boo Bird?
Yeah.
OK, because this guy is a Boo Bird.
And what a Boo Bird does is they're in Africa.
I think it's Africa.
Maybe it's Brazil.
I think it's Brazil.
And it's this bird that flies around in a circle and starts flying around.
The circle goes faster and faster and faster until it flies up.
I think that's what we're seeing happening here.
Slowly but surely, he's turning into a Boo Bird.
Well, he's spun up to a crazy point in here.
Now, he's also watched too many of those sovereign individual videos
Oh, yeah.
Sovereign Citizens.
Yeah.
He hasn't learned from Scott's MMA rehearsal, because how does he lead in the fight?
Come on.
He's Harry Enfield's short bloke as well.
You know what they say.
He used to have this character who would kick off.
This short guy would walk into a pub and get incredibly exercised and kind of get violent.
But with your arms down by your side.
Yeah.
And that flu bird is going to make a mess.
You know what they say.
The foo shifts.
You got to wear it.
That's the one I knew.
So.
I hope she makes a short out of that.
If you're an insecure male.
If you're an insecure human.
Anything that touches what you think are your possessions.
Like this car.
It triggers like this weird territorial threat response.
So the translation here is you're making me look weak in front of her.
Yeah.
That's why he's doing this stuff.
He's begging for some reversal of power.
He wants to bait the cop into overstepping.
Because now he's vacillating between.
I need to be this big alpha male guy.
And if I can't do that, I'm going to be the famous victim.
I'm going to be a famous victim.
I'm going to get thrown on the ground.
He knows he's not going to take the guy.
But I don't think he's.
I don't think he's thinking.
I think he's beyond.
He's already gotten to the point where he's just.
So we always talk about hormones turning off your thinking brain.
This is cat brain full bore 101 right here.
And if you watch him, I would say that people's.
The words you choose when you have control of your brain are choice.
That's the will.
But your body is going to punctuate what it thinks, right?
Your body is going to do this.
It's what we read.
The last part, though, is the vocal part.
And that's up to the highest bidder.
And fight or flight's got him.
Because pitch, tone and cadence are all ramped up.
But that's what I'm saying.
I think he's not thinking.
But I think he's been exposed to so many videos.
These viral videos where someone triggers a cop.
And they get some viral wind.
And he's playing this little fantasy in the background here.
And maybe obviously unconsciously until it dies.
But there needs to be.
When this happens, there's always a goal.
You know what I mean?
But I can't figure out what his goal is.
His realistic goal.
I think Chase is dead on.
It's a modern goal is to get a viral video.
Yeah.
Because he starts filming immediately.
Video one.
He was.
He's already filming.
He's already gone.
I reckon I could get a video.
I've got some content out of this, you know.
And so I think that is.
But underneath all of that is that desire for a certain attention.
And he does have the cop's attention now.
Because now the camera is right as he comes in and closes the space.
Which he's getting way too close.
And it starts collapsing.
That he's starting to realize this cop is controlling real world consequences.
And then he's kind of maybe subconsciously realizing this isn't a Reddit thread.
And you're not going to out intellectual people.
Especially a cop.
Well, and when he changes his voice tone.
He's been nothing but helpful to this kid.
He's given him an out.
And an out.
He's touched the cop.
He didn't break his arm for touching.
He didn't grab him and manhandle him.
He just pushed him away and said get away.
The kid pushes back.
He doesn't do anything.
He gives him more than one out.
When his voice changes.
When that tone changes.
And he says get out.
He's pushing back.
You are approaching me.
You are getting in my face.
Get your hand off me.
Kid ought to be smart enough to pick it up.
But I think Chase.
I think one of the most dangerous things in society right now.
Is there enough kids who are willing to forgo what we think of as normal natural instinct.
For self-protection.
For a video.
And sometimes they're so focused on the actual camera.
They're not looking.
And I'm not beating up kids.
I'm just saying.
Because this viral video thing is such a hot thing.
He got his viral video.
I think she starts laughing.
Because the cop starts laughing.
She's looking.
And I think she like locks eyes with him for a second.
They sort of connect.
Because they both see how ridiculous it is.
And lets us know she thinks it's ridiculous as well.
So it's your car?
Doesn't matter.
Is it your car or what?
You're going to scratch those wheels and have to pay for them.
Yeah.
At the same time.
Yeah.
So that's not his normal behavior.
I mean he probably does all the time.
But I'm saying he's not like that all the time.
She knows that this is goofy for him.
So at least somebody knows what's happening around there besides the cop.
You know the kid just doesn't see what's happened.
Doesn't understand.
Everybody knows that now.
And his girlfriend is watching the death of a persona.
That she probably liked at the beginning.
When it was outgoing and powerful.
Intelligent.
And she's seeing the persona die.
And laughing.
And at one point you see her drop her eyes down into her right.
I think it's in this video.
Whenever this thing starts to fall apart.
She's looking down to her right.
There's probably something.
Hey this thing is not going to go like we thought it would.
Or he thought it would.
How am I going to stay clear of the show fragments?
You know because.
I don't understand why the cop said.
What is she doing here?
You know.
What are y'all waiting?
What is she waiting on?
You and I mean what are y'all.
I mean he said that at first.
What's going on?
You know.
What are you looking for?
Because the kid's testing out the waters there.
But I don't know why he didn't call her over and go.
Come here a minute.
What are you doing?
You know what I mean?
So that would.
Maybe that would have made it worse.
But I don't know.
Scott is that traverse sitting in the parking lot right next to him?
And they forward went this.
No it's not.
I looked.
It's your video of it.
You must have had an angle on it.
No.
From your traverse.
No traverses are cool looking than that.
I thought it was a traverse.
I was going to go.
He walked past a random dude's traverse to random dude's car.
If anybody out there has access to aftermarket wings for traverses.
Scott would be interested.
I need one.
Bad.
Really bad.
At the end of this.
You're looking at a guy who spent some time online.
And if you go to these online communities nowadays.
They reject any vulnerability whatsoever.
They mock any kind of empathy.
And they just worship cleverness.
They worship being clever.
And he is just taking.
Probably spends a lot of time there.
He's taking the only real map that he knows.
And applying it to the situation.
And I'll bet you anything.
That when he yells at his mother.
And I know he does.
That's the way he's acted since he was a child.
To his parents.
And they let him get away with it.
And that's the way he sounds when he's hollering.
I'm sure if we saw him hollering at his mom.
We'd all go.
Oh man.
It'd be one of those things.
You could hardly keep from wringing his neck.
Right there in front of his mom.
What are you searching it for?
To uncover the van.
For what?
Do you have any suspicion of it being stolen?
Other than no plates.
I do.
Absolutely.
What's your suspicion of it being stolen officer?
Hey man.
Is this your car or what?
You're making this so much harder than it needs to be.
You're f***ing towing it for no reason.
You got your nasty ass shoe on the f***ing wheel.
Yeah.
Get your f***ing shoe off the wheel.
Is this your car?
You're being disrespectful to whoever's f***ing car it is.
Okay.
You need to back off my face over there.
I'm not in your face.
You just stuck your f***ing hand in my face.
Bud.
Chill.
Get your f***ing.
Why is your foot on the wheel?
Why are you doing that?
You're literally doing that to piss me off for no f***ing reason.
Because it's your car?
Doesn't matter.
Is this your car or what?
You're going to scratch those f***ing wheels and have to pay for them.
Yeah.
Well, I don't know what policy is.
Your department's probably going to have to f***ing pay for these thousand dollar wheels.
Go and walk over there bud.
Keep your f***ing hand out of my face.
Walk over there.
Keep your f***ing hand out of my face.
Walk.
Get out of my face.
Go.
You're walking in my face.
Go before I.
Don't f***ing touch me.
Go.
I'm not doing s***.
Off my scene.
Get away from my car.
Go.
This ain't your car.
Go.
Your car's back there.
I'm getting it for a search warrant.
Start moving.
You are approaching me.
You are getting in my face.
Move back.
Get your f***ing hand off me.
Stay off the car.
The rest of you don't.
Keep your motherf***ing hands off me.
Stay off the car.
Keep your motherf***ing hands off me.
Stay off the car.
Off the car?
You're the one that was on the f***ing car.
Back up.
I ain't touching you.
I'm off the car.
Back up.
I'm f***ing back.
Okay.
Back up.
Start recording this.
Touch me again motherf***er.
Come push me.
Back up.
Come push me.
F***ing push me for no f***ing reason.
You're putting your hands in my face.
I kept my phone back respectfully.
I wasn't sticking it in your face.
I got your name and that was it.
What's your f***ing badge number?
117.
So like I was saying,
this car is coming to the Getty Car Police Department.
If you're not going to claim ownership of it,
what's going to happen is we're going to get a search warrant.
You're f***ing shoving me.
Why would I want to f***ing make it easy on you?
Gosh.
Ow.
I moved my hands.
Ow.
These are looking more comfortable than the last.
Don't move your wrist because it'll make it hurt.
You gotta keep it still.
These are more comfortable than.
I'm too f***ed to stay still.
These are more comfortable than the last car I was in,
police car.
I was,
I had my things behind my back,
but I hit it like really bad and s***.
I had to like go into like crazy positions to feel comfortable.
And it was an hour long car ride.
Dude, last time they only had,
they didn't even put me in handcuffs.
They just took me,
and they let me take my stuff too.
I was able to take like some of my,
my little ponies,
my plush and my phone.
But then they took my phone away.
They took all of my stuff away.
Cause they were like,
you can't have this in there.
So I was like,
okay, whatever.
I wasn't even,
I was,
I don't think I had anything on me,
but I got my shirt taken away.
Why?
No, I think it like went off the sleeve a little bit.
Uh huh.
And I guess that wasn't allowed.
Yeah.
Frisky wrist.
We're going to become one of those lesbian couples now.
Yeah.
And you could be the butch.
Hey, this is my bitch.
Stay away.
Yeah.
Oh, you trying to look good for your mugshot?
Oh ----.
Am I going to get a mugshot?
Well, we're going to jail.
What do you think?
Oh yeah, that's crazy.
Dude, I was going to do my makeup this morning
for the mugshot,
but I couldn't find anything.
I'm glad I don't actually look too bad today.
I look horrible.
It's over.
And don't worry.
You don't need to,
I'm sorry.
You're the butch.
It doesn't matter if you look good.
Hey, at least they're going to see,
they were going to see me somewhere
or another in the mugshot.
Dude, we're supposed to spread our story
around the TCC though.
Hey, oh, these are two stupid retards
from Florida that couldn't.
No, do not, do not.
You help me get materials.
You are going to see the photos.
All right.
Mark, what do you got?
Yeah.
So at this point,
as far as I can see,
we understand that they've been in
a vehicle like this before.
This is, this is now, oh, okay.
This is not new to them.
These are more comfortable
than the last car I was in.
Dude, last time they only had,
they didn't even put me in handcuffs.
They just took me.
As I've said many, many times,
once is a pattern.
So we should know the first time
they ended up in a vehicle like this,
we should be able to predict
that that's going to happen again
for them.
Yeah, once is a pattern.
I'd like you to take that in account
if you're interested in behavior.
If something's happening to somebody,
if you're seeing something odd,
chances are this isn't
the first time for them.
We should be actually looking at this
and going, this is not
the first time for them.
They've been very close to this,
or they've been in this situation before.
I'm reminded of,
I saw some details just recently
of a guy who's been struck by lightning.
Like, I don't know.
It was something like seven times
or 14 times.
I can't remember.
Stay inside.
Okay.
So stay in.
Yeah.
If I stay inside,
I'm less likely to get struck by lightning.
Anyway, people were saying
this guy must be amazing.
He must be like,
he must be producing the electricity.
He must be.
No, he worked for the Forestry Commission
out in the US.
He's outdoors all the time.
In the wide open expanse.
And it's like there were some other people
who got struck by lightning a lot.
They were golfers.
And it just so happens,
if you get struck by lightning once
on the golf course,
your chances of getting struck by lightning
another time go up.
Why?
Because once is a pattern.
You were clearly not the person
who went indoors when the storm came.
Most of the people are going to go,
no, no, we got to go in.
So this person that didn't go in
gets struck by lightning.
And that's a pattern.
They don't go in again and again and again.
And they keep getting struck by lightning.
It's not like they are some supernatural force.
I think his name was Judge Smales.
Nicely done.
Yeah, it's nice.
Your kung fu is good.
May well be.
Chase Hughes, he'll be here all week.
If you're driving home,
don't forget your cars.
Comedy styles,
stylings of Chase Hughes.
Take it away.
Y'all remember The Great Outdoors?
Yeah.
John Candy and that guy got struck 66 times.
Is that right?
So let's go back to the right axis
on this chart here at the bottom.
This is called hyperreality.
This is Jean Baudrillard.
If you want to look it up,
I don't have time to go into that.
Mark will nod knowingly right about now.
This is fully,
and Scott,
fully inside the simulation.
The identity of this person
is stitched together
out of little fragments of stories.
Scott talks about this all the time
when he talks about people
that have antisocial personality disorder,
how they kind of stitch this idea of life
and who they are
out of all these stories they've heard.
But what happens here
is the emotional response to the thing
goes super flat.
And you heard it in the clip,
the laughing,
the tone,
the weight of what they were actually saying
versus the way that they were saying it.
That is what's,
there's a term for this.
It's called affect mismatch.
So the clinical name
for when the emotion doesn't match
the content is affect mismatch.
And it's one of the most reliable
early markers that we have
in all of psychology.
So I had to look this up this morning.
But the scale exists,
my scale exists for this reason
to map out how somebody ends up here
so we can see them coming
before they get here.
And we can definitely see
a progressive collapse
on the scale there.
Greg, what do you got?
Yeah, what we're seeing here
is a cult of notoriety.
I got to tell you how bad I am
and how much these are kids.
Look, Mark, we agree on the whole thing
about where they're at
and what they're trying to do.
I sum up the way you're talking about it
as once as a pattern is this.
If you think your kids are hanging out
with the wrong crowd,
no, they are the wrong crowd.
And you need to intervene.
That's just human nature.
If they're allowed to run,
they're like dogs running for a fence.
If they don't find a fence,
they keep going to Mark's point
about once being a pattern.
And if you notice the one on the right,
the one with the red hair,
starts flexing her record.
And if you don't pay attention,
you won't notice
that she has to start three times
to make a point of the other girl
hearing about her riding
in the back of the car.
Oh, these are lucky,
it'll make it hurt.
These are more comfortable
than the last car I was in.
Three times.
Usually if somebody erupts you
a couple of times,
and maybe not so important,
but it is important
because they're in this cult of notoriety.
I can tell you from real life,
if you get your hands on terrorists,
often it's like this.
They're in this cloistered environment
where they're competing with each other
about who can do something a lot worse.
And then when you get down
to the brass tacks,
you ask them why they do it,
they say, well,
I could have stayed and been a nobody,
or I could do this.
These are probably underperforming
children at school.
Nothing else is as real
as what goes on
in this little cloistered environment
they have.
Even though to your point, Chase,
it might not be real at all.
It might just be,
you could put a bot in there texting
and they would fall for it
quite the same way
because we're back to humans don't change.
Humans haven't changed.
Their data inputs have changed
because the same drives it took
to make us cluster,
to make us get together
and go and protect each other
and create societies
are the same drives it takes to do this.
So we've hijacked those drives
with an artificial culture
that has no real meaning.
And you can see it in these kids.
You watch them,
they start saying,
there's nervous laughter.
I keep beating this one
because it's the same thing
over and over and over.
Their virulence that's occurring
inside these cloistered environments
makes them more aggressive.
And by the way,
you don't have to look to these two kids.
Go watch people
who are coming off their couch
with posters and signs
for either side or the other
and getting into a pissing contest
face to face,
assuming that everybody believes
what they believe
and getting into physical violence
over something that they probably
have little knowledge
or information from
other than what's been fed to them
through these systems.
Just pay attention
to how you get your data
and how your kids get their data.
Scott, what do you got?
Well, I thought it was really interesting.
A couple of things.
The only thing that worried me
about this whole thing so far,
it has me worried
is if I know what I'm going to say,
what the most worrying thing is,
this guy puts on the brakes too hard
that that one in the white T-shirt
is going to choke to death.
That they've got the seatbelt on
so it's like right at her throat.
So if anything happens,
she's out from that moment on.
But the juxtaposition of
not only the looks,
but their word choices,
the way they describe things,
everything is the opposite,
it seems like,
with those two.
One of them's got her hair colored,
the other one doesn't.
The other one's worried about makeup,
talking about makeup.
The other one's worried
about how she looks.
The other one's confident with how she looks.
Everything is the opposite there,
things they talk about,
what you're talking about.
Greg, when she brought up the part
about the most uncomfortable
I've ever been in a police car,
the last time I was in,
she's trying to up her social status
in that situation.
The one-upping has already started,
so we know who the leader is,
and those two,
who the dominant character is.
Because it'd be so easy
for the red-headed one
to knock down the black-headed one.
So she's being real.
One thing that personality type does
is it gets people like that around them
who are really, really super insecure,
more insecure than they are,
and treats them nicely
because that person knows
they can chop them down any second
with one phrase or one shot at them.
And so she's super nice to her,
and since she's super nice to her,
she really appreciates it.
So she's overly nice to her,
so that puts her in the top leader position
of what are we going to do,
how are things going to go,
I'll listen to you.
That's my impression.
I've seen it a million times
as have you guys,
that we've talked about before as well.
So I just thought that was interesting,
the differences in the two,
but they're both approaching it
sort of in the same way,
but the reason they're going so deep on this
is because the other one goes so deep
when they start talking about how it's nothing.
The other one will start talking about
how it's nothing as well,
not that big a deal.
So I just thought that was,
for me, that was the most fascinating part
other than that seatbelt's going to choke her to death
if they accidentally hit something.
So, all right, we good?
Yeah.
Gosh!
Ow!
I moved my ants.
Ow.
These are looking more comfortable than the last.
It'll make it hurt,
you got to keep it still.
These are more comfortable than.
I feel fucked to stay still.
These are more comfortable than the last car
I was in,
police car.
I was,
I had my things behind my back,
but they hit it like really bad and ----.
I had to like go into like crazy positions

but I got my shirt taken away.

No, because I think it like went off the sleeve a little bit,
and I guess that wasn't allowed.
Yeah, frisky wrist.
We're gonna become one of those
lesbian couples left in jail.
Yeah, and you could be the butch.

All right, Philz,
thanks another good one,
and we'll see you next time.
