Hey, Luxury Home Show. I'm Jon Grauman from Resident.
I'm up here in Napa Valley today.
Very excited to show you my new listing that I have with Ginger Martin from
Sotheby's. This is brand new construction.
It's approximately 8,600 square feet in total sitting on 6.7 acres
right here in the heart of the Valley floor. We're in Oak Knoll,
which is one of the most central convenient locations in all of Napa Valley
because it's quietly positioned just minutes away from downtown Napa.
And moments away from Yonville,
which is one of the best culinary scenes in the world.
So I'm excited to show you the house,
but let's check out the grounds for a little bit.
We're going to talk about the inside of the house in a minute.
There's obviously a lot to talk about, but this, this is what it's all about.
This is what you move here for. It's heaven.
People come up to Napa because they want to feel like they're part of the land.
They want to get outside the city.
This is your own true farm to table experience.
It is the dream when you're living up here.
So as you pull into the property,
you can see you have this very generous size motor core can easily accommodate
pretty much as many guests as you want. Beautiful,
modern farmhouse really sort of personifies what that style of architecture is,
which is so prevalent up here in the Valley.
And because we're on the Valley floor in what's called the agricultural
preserve, you are surrounded by nothing but vineyards,
quite literally 360 degrees of vineyards.
And the really cool part is that four acres of them are yours.
You have four acres of mature planted Cabernet here that you can either harvest
to make your own wine or you can sell to another local winery.
But this is the dream for most people coming to Napa and having some involvement
in the wine industry.
You're getting to make their own wine is quite literally the dream and this
house provides it. As you come down the front entry,
one of the first things you'll notice is that it's flanked by these incredible
hundred plus year old olive trees.
And then you have this beautiful glass framed entry,
which as you'll see sort of mimics in symmetry,
the glass sliders on the other side that open up to the back.
It's pretty incredible. Come check it out.
We're going to talk about the inside of the house in a minute.
There's obviously a lot to talk about, but this, this is what it's all about.
This is the lifestyle. This is what you move here for. It's heaven.
It's quiet. You literally can't hear a car driving by.
You can't hear the sound of a hustle and bustling city because you're outside
the city,
far removed in this beautiful countryside that is perfectly framed here on the
center of the Valley floor,
which means you have beat Maya commas mountain range to the West.
You have the Vaca mountain range to your East and everything just spills right
down into where we are and it is just a slice of heaven.
The outdoors are adorned with resort like features. First of all,
you have this incredible 60 foot long pool and then of course a spa just over
there. There are multiple fire pit seating areas,
so ample entertaining whether you're hosting a few friends or a couple of
hundred friends,
great outdoor kitchen and I love the way it's positioned because you look out
not only at your beautiful property,
but all the way up to the mountain ranges.
This outdoor cabana includes this breezeway,
which sort of serves as like an indoor outdoor living room has its own dining
area, which opens up to a huge sprawling lawn.
And then the part that you would never know is that on both sides of these
doors are two guest suites.
So this is also the guest house with two completely independent detached guest
suites. Oak Knoll is actually its own AVA,
which stands for American viticultural area and we're on the Southern end of the
Valley, which means that we're going to have some cooler climates.
We're going to get nice breezes that come in through the San Pablo Bay.
That means that you're going to have longer growing seasons.
You're going to be able to produce wines that are oftentimes more elegant,
more restrained, perfect for Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon,
Cab Franc, Merlot.
Oak Knoll is also home to some of the best young emerging wineries like Brion,
Elman, Seven Apart, Neo Tempo,
and some of the more established ones like Dariush and Trepethin.
One of the other great features about Oak Knoll is that because we're on the
Southern end of the Valley, we have so much closer proximity to Sonoma,
San Francisco, major airports.
The convenience of being down on this side of the Valley,
in addition to having a cooler climate is actually really special.
Before we go inside,
I just want to point out a couple more of the exterior features.
So the house is really made up of just a few different materials.
First you have this beautiful cedar wood,
which has obviously been stained in this dark color,
this great rubble limestone veneer, sleek metal roofing system.
And then these pergolas are just incredible.
These pergolas were imported from Italy.
They can electronically manage everything from the sun, the rain, the wind.
So you can sit out here and enjoy under all conditions.
The louvers will automatically move with the orientation of the sun throughout
the day, which is pretty incredible.
They also have custom heating built in fans and lighting.
So these are an amazing feature unto themselves. This one, actually,
in fact,
both of them have their own fire pit that you can enjoy on a nice evening,
which we have just about every day out here.
Welcome back inside the house. First off,
I just want to point out these rainier sliding doors.
These are from Belgium and they're pretty spectacular.
They slide seamlessly and they open up to provide that seamless indoor,
outdoor living that everybody loves.
The centerpiece of the main living area is this wine cellar,
which as you can see, you and 10 of your friends could fit in. I mean,
look at the size of this thing. You can outfit this any which way you want.
You can do racks that see through,
you can store the wine bottles under here and have your display cases up here.
It's really kind of meant to be designed for whatever you want,
depending on what kind of collector you are.
I want to show you this wing of the house first.
Obviously you have this great open formal living area with the fireplace
opens up to the rest of the house. So it's great for entertaining.
You can easily flow from one side of the house to the next.
And then moving over to this wing, you have your first powder room here.
Then we come into this very cozy den. This is your TV room.
This is where you can just hang out and lounge.
You can close off that area. So it's separated from the rest of the house.
The kids can be in here watching TV while the adults are in there entertaining.
It also has its own sliders. Everything opens up to the back.
And then this is the first guest suite.
And you'll see as we go through the house,
every single room of the house has a beautiful view because you have 360
degrees of them coming back through this side of the house.
Obviously you can't help but marvel at these soaring vaulted ceilings that give
it so much space and light that comes flooding in.
Speaking of which, this might be one of my favorite features.
I love the way the light hits this staircase.
It's a very cool architectural feature.
The staircase comes down and just opens up into the rest of the house,
which I think it was just really beautifully designed by the architect.
Great open kitchen. First,
you have just this sort of more informal breakfast area, which I love.
Huge center island.
This might be my favorite feature because the reality is a lot of houses,
particularly new construction, are designed for the way they look,
not so much the way that they live.
This is how a house is going to live where you can have this sort of indoor
outdoor handing food off here,
taking it to the barbecue or just sitting out here and enjoying the outdoors on a
beautiful day like this. I love these accordion sliding windows.
So the kitchen is outfitted with all top of the line Miele appliances.
But if you're thinking,
I don't want to make a big mess in my kitchen or having guests over and we're
going to have a chef come in and cook for us tonight.
I don't want it all out in the open. Check this out.
So right through here you have your own chef's kitchen and it is also
outfitted with top of the line Miele appliances. They spared no expense.
Doesn't matter whether it's the main kitchen or the chef's kitchen and sitting
just outside the chef's kitchen is your own private vegetable garden.
People come up to Napa because they want to feel like they're part of the land.
They want to get outside the city.
This is your own true farm to table experience.
It is the dream when you're living up here.
Okay. So walking down this way, which would be the North end of the house,
we have another guest room here.
And then one of the coolest features about this house is that it has two primary
suites, one downstairs, if that's your preference or another upstairs,
if you prefer that.
So this is the first primary suite down on the ground level. And again,
one of the things I really love is that everywhere you look is this amazing view
of the vineyard out both sides. And then of course you have these great sliding
doors. Again, they seamlessly open, come out here, sit on your patio,
or just take a dip in the jacuzzi in the evening.
Come right back inside to your bedroom. Really, really thoughtfully designed.
Obviously very generous closet on both sides here.
You have storage here, big walk-in area over there.
I don't even think this needs any description. I mean, this is just stunning.
This is like what you would hope to have at a five-star resort and you have it
here in your own house.
So when we arrive at the upstairs landing,
one of the things that you notice is that they very thoughtfully put in all of
these upper windows. So not only do you get more light,
but you pick up the views from everywhere, which again,
is such a huge part of what the experience is being here.
This is really kind of an open concept.
It could be an upstairs little pajama lounge if you want.
The reality is most of us come up here to escape from work,
but sometimes we got to do a little work.
So this could be a great home office and what an inspiring view to look out on.
And you could also make this part of the other master suite,
which is just down here, more or less the same experience as the one below,
except you're elevated. The views get a little bit bigger.
Everything gets a little bit more open and dramatic.
You have the same sliders that open up to a patio to overlook everything.
Let's actually go outside. I want you guys to see this.
I don't know how well this portrays on camera,
but you are looking directly at the Mayakamas and it's so beautiful.
You're looking up to Yonkville, up to Oakville and even further.
And the sun sets literally right there.
You're going to see it a little later today. Just trust me.
But the way it's going to cascade light over the Valley floor is pure magic.
Okay. So secondary master closet and bathroom.
The only difference,
the proportions get a little bit more generous and even bigger walk-in closet.
Obviously we're on the second floor now.
So we get the benefit of this pitch ceiling.
So a little bit more voluminous in here, but same view,
just a little bit more,
a little bit more dramatic because it's a little bit higher.
And then of course you have beautiful limestone throughout great Taj Mahal
countertops, simple, elegant, timeless finishes rounding out the upstairs.
You also have this killer gym, which again,
I don't know that you could find a more inspiring view.
The sun comes up right over there.
So if you're the person that likes to wake up and work out early in the
morning,
you're literally going to be watching the sun come up over the Baca mountain
range. This could also turn into another bedroom. If you want,
you can close off these doors. It does have a full bathroom,
but it's a great gym the way it's set up. And then lastly,
but certainly not least,
this might be my favorite room because how much fun is this?
Again, you get the benefit of being on the second floor.
So you get the really tall pitch ceilings light coming in on three sides of
this room. And then this is just your fun zone. I mean, this is,
you can make this your cool man cave. You can make it the kid's play room.
You can make it anything that you want,
but it lays out so perfectly for entertaining and having this elevated position
where you're just kind of floating above the vineyards.
You're just kind of floating right out there above the Valley floor,
just looking out on nothing but pure, beautiful greenery.
