This video provides a comprehensive guide for college and high school students on how to transition from a traditional employee mindset to an entrepreneurial one. The speaker emphasizes leveraging existing skills to create diverse income streams, utilizing corporate structures to minimize taxes, and strategically managing finances to build long-term wealth while balancing academic schedules.
How to make money as a college student. I love this one because if you're an athlete, right out
of the gate, you could have a bunch of NIO money, sponsorships, and build yourself a brand. If you're
not, or even if you are, I have helped so many college students make money. So the first thing
to look at is how do you use your existing skills just to create some extra side hustles and some
money. Number two is how do you create extra income around your school schedule as well as
once you're 18, do you need corporate structure? How do you mitigate your taxes if you're on
scholarship? How do you put that financial model together? For those of you that are serious about
doing this, I made so much money in college just as a personal trainer. I'll share some of those
stories with you and what I did. My kids actually make money. My son's now out of college, out of
his master's program. My daughter's still in high school. She's got a lot of side hustles. So even
as a high school student going into college next year, you can make money. You just have to have a
desire to do it and not want to have a job. We're not talking about getting jobs. We are talking
about being entrepreneurs. And the last thing we're going to talk about is what should you focus
on and how do you maximize your earning potential knowing that you have school schedules, you have
breaks, and how do you put more revenue into your year? How do you take your existing skills and make
money while you're in college? So what are you good at? Are you a good writer? Are you good on camera?
You could be a videographer. You can go to Fiverr. You can go to Upworks. You can get on and start
charging hourly for some work. Copywriters are so necessary. Web designers, any sort of digital
marketing, social media posting, you can do any kind of that stuff. Photographers are extremely,
extremely well-versed. I have some photographers who started in college still doing it where they
do the 360 view. They bought a drone and they're doing drone footage for real estate agents and
brokers, making a ton of money. Sometimes I know they're even thinking, why am I in college when
I can make this kind of money being a photographer and specializing in real estate? I've had folks be
tutors. Both of my kids have tutored other people for cash all the way to helping them prep for a
test exam. I've had my kids do athletic lessons. So what I did as a personal trainer, I did personal
training. I did aerobics instruction. I did even water lessons for disabled kids and disabled
parents. So I taught them how to swim. I had all sorts of little side hustles in the fitness space.
I have a lot of athletes who actually do a lot of sports training. My son taught ski lessons for a
long time. My daughter has taught a variety of different kinds of lessons as well. My niece
teaches volleyball lessons in the summer. I have football players who are teaching speed training,
nutrition. They have nutrition journals. I also have football players in different parts of the
country who are college athletes who started a pressure washing business. They've started
woodworking businesses. They're in direct sales. There's so many things in direct sales. In fact,
those of you college students that want to join some of my direct sales company, I have this
amazing CBD line. It has brain IQ, which is great. All you college students need it.
It's a direct sales company. You could be a personal shopper. I have another one. So there's
a whole link below of five, six different things you could join with me. You could be an affiliate
of mine, sell my books and tapes. You could be an affiliate of iFlip. You could sell BrainTap,
which is like a function of healthier brain work. There are so many things that I sell,
you could sell, just be part of our teams. You just have to say, what's the kind of money you
want to make? And just to put some numbers in perspective, you college students, if you want
to make a hundred thousand dollars, that's $8,333 a month, right? That's about $4 and $16 a day.
Just say, well, given your skill sets, what can you do? And just because you're young college
students, doesn't mean you're going to charge less. Other skill sets. If you love animals,
I have people like dog sitting, house sitting, cat sitting, work at a vet clinic, whatever you
need to do. You could also just do driving, whether it's Uber, Lyft, any of those. DoorDash,
you can drive. I know tons of people making six figures, just adding extra supplemental driving
when it works for them around their schedule into their models. So there you go. You got a big list.
There's tons you can do. You have to get creative and say, I don't want a job because that's how I
was. I went to college. I got a job for about a minute cause I had to work to supplement going
to a private college. I'm like, uh, I'm not going to work at a job. Like this is crazy.
Um, I'm going to work for myself. So I went to a gym and I hung up a personal training sign and
voila for $40 an hour as personal training the next day. So you can all do it. You just have
to get creative about what are your skill sets? What do you like? And what do you want to amplify
in what you're doing? My daughter works at a wellness center being certified as a hyperbaric
chamber also like detoxes. So just learning to use and implement wellness products that are
alternative. Um, she, my daughter's also becoming a pilot. So as soon as she becomes a pilot,
she'll book herself out as a private pilot. Even if she doesn't have an aircraft,
she can get certified on theirs and fly for them as a pilot. And they share the money with the
charter. Well, lots of ways to make money kids. How do you ramp up your revenue? So the best
ways once you're 18 and older to amplify and keep more of your money is get incorporated.
So depending on the state you're going to school or your parents, and you're still a resident in
your parents' home state, you have to talk to our experts. So I don't care if you're a college
student, call our office, talk to our team with your parent and we'll do a gap analysis. So I'll
give you actually the whole book cause you're college students. I'm gonna give you the whole
book, read the millionaire maker. And, uh, if you've read Rich Dad Poor Dad and Millionaire
Maker, you are on fire to be an entrepreneur and a wealth builder. I mean, those two books combined,
I know Rich Dad Poor Dad was like, oh, it was like a supplement of Think and Grow Rich. It
was like, oh, this is doable for anybody. You just have to want it. But getting incorporated
has you keep taxes down. It has your travel back to your home state be written up as a business
deduction, not an expense. You won't go on vacations. You're now becoming a business owner.
And you know what? You may go off after college and get a job, but why not make a lot of money?
Keep your student loan costs down if your scholarships aren't high. So before I continue
on, I want you to subscribe to my channel, share this with at least 10 people. Those of you that
are in college that need to make a little money, you could binge watch right here. You could do 25
hours on my channel cause you're going to absorb a ton of knowledge. And I'm going to give you a
$750 credit to spend towards new tuition. You say, well, I can't do that. I was 21 years old
in college when I hired Bob Proctor to be my first mentor for $25,000. I did it cause I wanted
that more than I wanted an MBA, a massive bank account, and a bunch of letters behind my name
because I wasn't going to be an employee. I was going to be an entrepreneur. So you can play it
both ways. My kids play both sides. My son is currently working at a firm as a job, becoming
a CPA and has businesses on the side. My daughter will grow into the same structure because that's
just how they're raised. If you're curious about that, also in this description below, grab my
book, Make Your Kids Millionaires. It's great checklist on what you could have, should have,
done. You can always go back and catch up if you don't have a Roth IRA. I have a lot of college
kids getting Roth IRAs. They'll look at me and say, well, Ms. Laurel, why do I have to have a
Roth IRA? I can't access that money till later. I just want a savings account. I want you to have a
Roth cause I want you to start putting money away for later in life. Also, NIL money is critical
that you put it through a corporate structure for the deductions, not just take it personally.
Completely shifts the way you are paying taxes, which means you're going to amplify more revenue
into the house. Make sure you're also looking at my playlist. You go to the search bar and look for
any topic. What's relevant for college students is your credit card, how you use credit cards,
how you arbitrage debt, how you live corporate life. The last thing on pitfalls and what I see
a lot of mistakes, especially of college students, is that you start and stop. You've got to give a
consistent time commitment to this. Make it significant. Just make it really clear if you're
on Upworks or Fiverr that you're just going to take some contract jobs as a small commitment
and you're done. Tutoring, same thing, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, or just for one kind of a class
or one kind of a test. You can make it very part-time and proportional, but if you want to go
all in, it's not that much more work to go all in and make way more money. If this is interesting to
you, you want to learn more, go to asklaurel.com, A-S-K-L-O-R-A-L. Ask questions, make a request.
We'll be back tomorrow as we're here five days a week for you to get successful.
