11 constant chaos. That's how neighbors describe what's been going on at this
house in Hudson. Over the past month, police have been called to this home
six times, six times in one month. And FOX 13's Blake Divine reports from
Pasco County, where neighbors are fearful and fed up. Tons of trash, a
stinky smell and several squatters have transformed this Hudson house into a
nightmare for neighbors. The last 6-7 months has really changed the
neighborhood, and it's a biohazard. First of all, there's rodents running
around. Across the street, this house of faith where Jim Pickens is the pastor.
I want the place cleaned up. When we have Children coming here on Sunday, we
don't know who's in the back. We don't know who's going to come out. In the
backyard sits this big blue tent guarded by a pair of pitbulls. Next door
neighbor Laura Buckner says things get worse when the sun sets. Every night
it's something with someone screaming. There's people climbing in and out of
windows. There's people doing weird things. Neighbors say this house has
been a headache for months, and things have gotten so bad over here that we
talked to a realtor who says it's cost her client a chance to sell her home.
What about these property rights for these owners that pay their taxes? They
can't even enjoy their home because of stuff like this. We took a tour inside
the house. Yvonne Lafon pulled off the market. Looking out this window, she
says what's happening here has become much more than an eyesore. There's crap
in the yard. There's no running water, no sewer, no electric. Something's got
to be done. We reached out to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, who told us
their deputies have been called out to this property six times in the last
month, leaving those that live on Clamshell Lane wondering what comes
next. My fear for my safety. I don't know what these people are capable of,
and they gotta go. They have to. This house needs to be demolished. The
homeowner, Kevin Kappelman, is currently behind bars in the Pasco County Jail.
Once he's released, a judge says he'll have 45 days to clean this place up.
