This video features a hands-on review of the Rocky 50, a 50-quart off-grid refrigerator. The presenter highlights its versatile power options, flexible interior layout, and spacious capacity, demonstrating how it fits into both a truck and a van to store bulk food and beverages.
And if you're looking for an off-grid refrigerator solution,
we're about to check it out right here. It's a big box. Big box!
Look how big this thing is. It's pretty heavy too.
I am not gonna fight with trying to get it out of this box. So we're gonna open the box.
It's 52 quarts? Oh it's wrong. It's not 48. It's 50!
This generates a whole lot of cardboard.
And the trash men don't like me.
So pretty!
You can flip the door around if you need to flip the door around.
That's a built-in battery. Hold on, you gotta see this. Hold on! Follow me!
We have a built-in battery bank right there.
It will power the cooler for about 18 hours.
It is prepped for solar.
Built-in. I think it's got the built-in power brick.
Let's see what's in the accessories box.
We like accessories!
In our accessory box, we have all the documentation you need to know.
We have a power brick. I guess I was wrong.
There's not a power brick installed.
We have a power brick with us.
We can plug it into the 12-volt.
Uses the same.
We have several of these.
So we can just shift this around without having to keep up with the cords.
We leave the cords in the vehicles where we use them.
So now I need to get it powered up and cooled down.
Oh, that's a much better, in some ways, much better design.
So that will actually hold a lot more frozen stuff compared to the one that I've been using.
This is laid out different.
So we got a really deep compartment and then we've got a compartment with a shelf.
Or you can take that out.
Oh, that's cool.
You may get all one big freezer or one big refrigerator.
I like that.
So two zones or one, however you choose to partition it out.
We got a bottle opener out there in case you've got to have it.
The one thing I wish it had was a set of wheels
just to make it a little easier to move from one place to the other.
All right, our next shot will be in the back of the truck where
I plan on putting this behind the front seat of the truck.
We'll see.
Yeah, I was a bit concerned that it might not fit.
So I roll my refrigerator behind the driver's seat of the truck
just simply because this is completely out of the way there.
And that's actually usually dead space unless I put a refrigerator in there.
So the 50, this is the Rocky 50, as I mentioned,
operates off of four different power supplies.
The 110, vehicle, battery, or solar panel.
Does not include the solar panels, but it does include the battery.
The door, as I mentioned, does change.
But look at all of the capacity in here.
This is just totally amazing.
I'm going to have to hide it from Yappy because she's probably going to try to take it from me.
But just imagine how good that would look in the van.
We need to see it in the van.
I think Yappy may have just got a new refrigerator for the van
because it fits so much better than what we ordered.
So she was rolling with two smaller ones.
The little blue one would sit right here.
She's a vegetarian, so buys a whole lot of produce.
That's going to work better for her than having those.
And it fits right there.
The cord, very long cord.
And that's an important feature because the cord,
that cord wasn't long enough for us to do that.
That way she can plug it in up there and control it when she's driving
and does not have to remember.
All right, we are going to put it back in the truck.
So here's why you're not going to be able to see when I open it.
We're already cold.
It didn't take very long at all.
All right, now test number one.
So I'm a carnivore that drinks beer.
First test, it'll fit.
All right, so we don't have to unbox that.
It won't fit in the freezer compartment.
Next test, the reason I roll with this in the back behind my truck.
Clearance.
When you can buy beef and eat it for $10 or less a meal, I jump on it.
All right, there we go.
I spent, check this out.
I got two, four, six, seven meals.
Average price of about $5 a meal.
$3.36 for filet mignon.
All right.
