Millie and Louis participate in a lighthearted \"Off The Cuff\" interview with Vogue. They share personal anecdotes, discuss their experiences filming the *Enola Holmes* series, and reflect on their fashion choices and character growth throughout the franchise.
Hi, I'm Millie.
And I'm Louis.
And this is Off The Cuff.
Round one.
Icebreakers.
What is your most recent music discovery?
Samba.
Okay.
Samba and bossa nova.
J'adore.
Yeah, it's good, I'll play you something.
What is the last film you watched that you really enjoyed?
I do love films.
I don't enjoy the act of watching a film.
But when I do, I really do.
Like Up.
The movie Up, I love.
I watched...
What was the last film you watched?
Sing.
There you go.
And I love Sing.
What's something you were irrationally afraid of?
Falling down a drain and never being able to get back out.
If you were an art supply, what art supply would you be?
You want to be the paint, the canvas, the hairs on the brush.
Okay, sorry, I thought you said supplier.
I'm the canvas.
I feel like I'm the canvas every day anyway.
What about you?
Oh no, I'll be the easel because I like to think I hold people up.
If you had to get a tattoo, what would it be and where would you put it?
Okay, we already know you have two, so can you do like an additional?
Maybe something like here.
Back of the arm.
What would it be?
Yeah.
Live, laugh, love.
Oh, beautiful.
What book are you currently reading and what is it about?
I want to say it's called Big Emotions, Small People.
It's about tantrums in children.
Oh, nice.
Is that for you or?
It's for me, yeah.
Or for the kid?
No, it's for my children, okay?
I'm going to teach them how to have a really good tantrum.
Round two, getting personal.
Getting personal.
What's a song from your childhood that you still remember all the lyrics to?
Do you want to go to the seaside?
I'm not trying to say that everybody wants to go.
Really short song by The Kooks and it takes me back to being in the car with my family.
That's really cute.
What was the first thing you were obsessed with as a kid?
Hannah Montana.
Nice.
What's something you wish you were good at but have no talent for?
Drawing.
Yes.
Terrible at that.
General drawing and artistry.
If you couldn't be an actor, what else would you do for work?
I would like to work at a care home.
Nice.
If you could go back in time and experience a major cultural event, what would it be?
Oh, the fall of Rome.
No, there's so much.
I always think about this.
I just think to spend a day in a different time would be amazing.
Oh, I think to spend a day.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What is a lie that almost everyone believes at some point in their lives?
Oh, that's a good question.
Santa's real.
Yeah, but there's...
The Tooth Fairy's real?
No, there's more you can do with that one.
If we were in a horror movie, who do you think would survive to the end?
You, because you'd be the main character and I'm the one who gets killed off.
You're the first.
Yeah, but then there's all the pathos going on for me and then there's a post-credit scene
where I'm back and it's like, oh.
What is something that you think everyone should experience at least once?
Gosh.
Shave your hair off.
Ooh, that's good.
What's an unsolved case from history that you wish you could solve?
Jack the Ripper.
If you could visit England during any time period, which one would it be?
The 80s.
The way my mum describes going out in the 80s just sounds really fun.
Round three, Enola Holmes.
What's your favourite Charlotte Combs mystery?
You're not throwing your cards, are you?
I'm not, no.
What are you doing?
I'm polite.
Putting them at the back.
I've made a mess.
What was the question?
What's your favourite Charlotte Combs mystery?
The case of the missing Marquess.
Of course, about you.
Describe what it's like balancing your roles as an actor and producer in one of the films.
It must be really hard.
It's not hard, but when it comes to other actors, sometimes you just want to make sure
that you're not ever overstepping, you're letting everybody develop their characters
the way they want.
But obviously, sometimes when you want things to stay on track in terms of plot, you have
notes.
Those are things that I discuss with the director.
I hardly ever have notes for an actor because that's not my job.
Because I'm an actor, I like to make sure everybody has their own kind of autonomy and
creativity.
You do, you do.
What's something memorable that happened behind the scenes?
You got really ill and it was really quite concerning for a while and then you got very
ill and still managed to power through.
How many days did we lose?
Just a few?
A week.
It was pretty serious.
I got very, very sick.
They're probably looking for like a fun kind of answer.
I know, that was like really serious.
If you and Enola were to have dinner together, where would you go and what would you talk
about?
We would go to somewhere very sophisticated.
I think Paul Charles.
What?
Paul Charles here in New York.
I've never been.
A very small, very intimate, very hard to get into restaurant and we'd have a burger.
How do you feel your character Tewkesbury has evolved from film to film?
He's grown up, you know.
I think he's a bit more sensible, a bit less of a nincompoop.
More of a man.
He's worked out what he wants, I think, a bit more and that is you.
What was the hardest scene to film in Enola Holmes 3?
Honestly, I would say the first day back from being ill might have been the hardest just
because I really had to recalibrate, get back into the mindset.
Getting back and I was still kind of off my feet in a wheelchair for like quite a bit.
Yeah, you were.
I figured out how to do a wheelie, didn't I?
Yes, yeah.
I really like to, yeah, enjoy my tour when I was standing up.
What is something you'll miss about being on set?
I think we work really well together, so I'll miss that.
And it was a good crew this time, really sweet crew.
Is Enola Holmes 3 going to be the last film in the franchise?
Never say never.
How did that even happen?
I've jumped ahead to round four.
No, this is an important question, though.
No, I can't.
Sit down.
God, you listened.
That's so nice.
I'm interested in the question.
I just said, I think that...
I've lost track, Louis.
Right, next question.
Describe our first day on set together versus our last day.
First day on set.
Gosh, I don't remember.
I lost a jumper.
Was it in the train?
No, rolling down the hill.
Oh, rolling down the hill.
Yeah, I remember that.
Last day on set, we were in the water, surely?
Yeah, I was a bit nervous the first day.
And it felt like fun.
It was like fun nerves, whatever.
Round four, style questions.
Here we go.
This is Vogue after all.
What is your favourite look that you've worn throughout the series?
I had a pretty fresh white suit.
Linen, like canvas kind of suit thing when you first meet me.
It's kind of pretty good.
Describe Enola's style in a few words.
Sophisticated, very detective-esque,
but also very effortless when she's just being herself.
Effortless?
She's very effortless.
Corset, effortless?
No, like when she's dressed down to being who she is when she's in her bloom.
It's very much like this.
Oh, yeah.
She's very effortless.
Low-key, this is what you would wear under a big dress.
What's this look from?
I love that.
I love this too.
I know what that's from.
That was almost going to be my favourite suit.
But it was a matching three-piece.
It's pretty sweet.
It's Gorgiolina Jolie.
Show them the photo.
Lovely work.
Dashing.
It must have been absolutely boiling in that with Malta.
It was.
All right.
What is this from, Millicent?
That's in Enola.
That's in the third one.
Oh, I love that scene.
What about this?
That is, what does it say?
Johnny Thunders, set of the New York Dolls.
That's from when I played Sid Vicious.
This might be one of my favourite costumes ever.
Leather jacket.
I might have a leopard-print waistcoat underneath.
So, Sid Vicious?
Yes, I'm in Sid War.
Yes, that's it.
Oh, it's so cool.
Man, that was sweet.
Had the whole necklace thing going on.
I thought that was so fun.
That's when you realise costume really changes the way that you behave and move around.
Oh, my gosh.
We've got a great one next.
The BAFTA Tea Party.
You must be young.
Look at that stance.
Very young.
You're like...
BAFTA Tea Party, when I was like...
Wow.
10, 9 or 10.
I can't wait to see the rest of it, because you look stood.
Oh, cue.
Was I wrong?
Hand on the hip.
Oh, my goodness.
What's your favourite piece of clothing you currently own?
I like these shoes.
Do you get to keep them?
Yeah, now that I've said that.
Lightning round.
Ready?
Jazz or swing?
Swing.
Early riser or night owl?
Night owl.
But now with kids, early riser.
Sweet or salty?
Sweet.
Fast or slow?
Fast.
Comedies or mysteries?
Comedies.
Spring or summer?
Spring.
Too much sauce or no sauce at all?
No sauce at all.
Big action sequences or dialogue-driven scenes?
Dialogue-driven scenes.
Calling or texting?
Texting.
Original or adaptation?
Original.
Yes or no?
No, always.
This has been Off the Cuff with Vogue.
Thank you so much for watching.
Bye-bye.
Bye.
