Restoration of the Sacristies

Behind the doors of the Royal Chapel’s sacristies, a project requiring great craftsmanship has been completed, restoring the full splendor of these spaces that are usually hidden from public view. Artisans are employing exceptional skills to restore the woodwork, metalwork, and decorative elements that make up these areas, which are essential to the Chapel's operations. This restoration also coincides with the installation of the Royal Chapel’s Treasury, providing a setting worthy of the historical and artistic value of its liturgical artworks and objects. The Great Sacristy and the Lavabo Room were restored thanks to the patronage of members of the Society of the Friends of Versailles and its benefactors-Ms. Madeleine Faucheux-Bureau, Ms. Françoise Dufaux, and Mr. Guy Renard-with the support of the Heritage Foundation (Fondation du Patrimoine). Madame de Pompadour’s Oratory was restored thanks to the patronage of the Frédéric de Sainte Opportune Foundation, under the aegis of the Notre Dame Foundation. The Musicians' Room and the Choristers' Vestry were restored thanks to the patronage of the Philanthropia Foundation.
