1 MOA Challenge | Can You Shoot 1 MOA With 10 Rounds?
1 MOA challenge in collaboration with BlokeontheRange
The basic rules are:
- 10 shots on target for score (at least 50 yards or further)
- no mulligans, no do-overs, no fliers...
- max rifle weight: 4.76 kg (10.5 lb)
- lead sleds are not allowed
The idea of this challenge is to show keyboard commandos that 1 MOA is not that common and not that easy to achieve. The first point is that 3 rounds are absolutely not statistically relevant and resemble more luck than anything else. 5 shots are better but not really indicative of the accuracy of a particular rifle or ammunition. I have gotten really good 5-shot groupings with rifles that aren't consistent. Sometimes you can get lucky.
But 10-round groupings level the playing field—you can't cheat it, you can't get lucky with all 10 shots, and if the rifle/ammo isn't capable of 1 MOA, you won't be able to do it.
Yes, a lot of people don't have the skill to do it, but you would be surprised to learn that a lot of the most common rifles on the market today can't do it either. Many of them require at least handloaded ammo and a bunch of modifications.
