The doctor was playing me for a fool, literally putting me on all types of medication, pills,
all types of prescriptions, just messing with me, right? And I'm going to do what I have to do
because at this point, the doctor can't help me, so I got to help myself. And that's what you got
to do, family. You got to take the initiative when it comes to your health and wellness.
When I knew you got to let your food be your medicine, the vegan lifestyle unlocked that for
me. And it's like, oh my God, you're going to go vegan. Oh, you're going to be so skinny,
you're not going to build any muscles, you're going to shrink. And I beg to differ.
Peace, YouTube family. Scott Braun here, back with another vlog, back with another video. On my way
to Brooklyn to a Acolyne Vegan meetup. He's going to ask me, what does Acolyne Vegan mean? Acolyne
Vegan are the people who follow the Dr. Savvy diet, rest in power to the great one, rest in peace to
great one that has laid the foundation. I eat food or any substances that is below the pH scale.
So seven is neutral and below the pH scale is acidic. And then above seven is Acolyne.
So we're going to take a journey to Brooklyn, come walk with me and talk with me. And I want
to have a wonderful conversation about my eight years going into the vegan plant-based lifestyle
and what it's done for me. And some things I wish I knew when I first started the lifestyle,
because a lot of people think it's all about being perfect within the lifestyle,
within the change and the transition. But let me tell you, I went through some hardships
and in this video, I definitely want to have a conversation and talk to you all,
probably like my top five things I wish I could have done different when I was first transitioning
into the lifestyle and probably give you all some game on how you can be successful
on the vegan lifestyle, the high vibrating lifestyle, the not killing animals lifestyle.
And while we're there, we're going to do a Q&A with the people that are at the event on what
made them want to transition to Acolyne Vegan and just overall the wellness lifestyle.
I met in Brooklyn, but I seen this bar and I want to see if I could do some muscle ups. It's
been a while, so bear with me. Let me see what old man Scott got in the tank. Let's see what I got.
One, two, three, four, five. Not bad. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Comment down below of my form on the muscle ups. I ain't even warm up. I just got into it. Okay,
now let's talk and let's walk towards the Acolyne Vegan meetup. Let me give you some
context about my vegan journey, my vegan lifestyle, and why I even started to go
vegan because I grew up in the Bronx. I grew up on the standard American diet,
Donald's, Burger King, Chinese food, Kennedy fried chicken, if you know, you know. I grew
up on all of that. How did a former victim to the standard American diet start to go towards
veganism? Develop a very serious injury on my wrist. The doctor was playing me for a fool,
literally putting me on all types of medication, pills, all types of prescriptions, just messing
with me, right? And I've always been an active dude. I always love to be out there, you know,
do something physically active. So I went to a deep depression. And with that depression,
I was drinking a lot. I was drinking a lot of alcohol. I was smoking during the time,
just falling really deep into my depression. It wasn't until I hear a voice in my head saying,
Scott, pick up the iPad and type in what causes inflammation. When I picked up the iPad,
it said meat, dairy, eggs, processed food, microwavable food, and junk food all causes
inflammation. So when I first seen it, I was very shocked because even though I grew up in
the Bronx on a standard American lifestyle, the standard American diet, I'm also Jamaican.
So I grew up on oxtail, curry chicken, rice and peas, you know, them type of food there, right?
First seeing it, I was just shocked on this mindset saying that you need meat to build strong
bones. You need meat to build muscle. Be realistic with your journey. So with my realisticness,
I'm not a cold turkey kind of guy. You know, some people, they switch overnight, they cold turkey.
But for me, I said, no, I'm going to research and I'm going to do what I have to do because at this
point, the doctor can't help me. So I got to help myself. And that's what you got to do, family.
You got to take the initiative when it comes to your health and wellness. That's when I learned
about Dr. Sebi, Queen Afua, Dr. Layla Africa, the big three when it comes to healing in my
perspective. And also Dr. Don Bennett, Dr. Doug Graham, and many others. You know, I went really
deep into my research. I came back from Paris because I used to be a model. A lot of people
don't know that I used to be a model model. Like I used to do runways, I did campaigns,
I did big shows. So I did a show for Givenchy back in the day. And when I came back from Paris,
I said, let me try out this vegan thing. Let me see what this lifestyle is looking like.
So when I tried it for the first week, I had a lot of knowledge. I know what to eat. I know
what not to eat. I know how to supplement. I know how to do these things because I did research.
That first week of me going vegan, quitting the standard American lifestyle, quitting meat
altogether. It really changed my life. I had more energy. It reversed my insomnia. I used to
suffer from crazy insomnia, so I couldn't really sleep well. My taste buds changed as well too.
I had clearer thinking. I had a sharper mind. I just felt really great in my body. It felt like
I pushed the restart button on my body. The second week, and when I tried it the second week,
I couldn't do any pull-ups or push-ups during my injury because a lot of inflammation on my wrist.
It was so good. I went to the park and after I went to the park, I said, you know, let me see
if I can do some push-ups and some pull-ups. And I ended up doing like 30 push-ups and 15 pull-ups.
When I knew you got to let your food be your medicine, the vegan lifestyle unlocked that for me
because it has allowed me to understand that food is information. Food is fuel. Food is not
just food. Like people just say, oh, it's just food. No. Food can either harm you or heal you
or harm you. So you got to make the decision. And because I went through that, I started to get more
conscious about the things that I was putting into my body and not name it just my body,
my body, but my temple. And that's what you got to see your body for is a temple because
it's either you're going to cherish your temple or trash your temple. So with the discovery of
veganism and going into it and learning that plants should be your medicine and
foods should be your medicine and going back to nature, I decided to make content about it.
And this is the reason why you guys are on my YouTube channel or all my other social media
accounts and things of that nature. So I'm very passionate about the movement. And now I want to
get into the top five things I wish I knew or things I want to share with you all when you
go into your vegan journey. Before I say anything, understand that it's about progression, not about
perfection, but about progression when it comes to the lifestyle, when it comes to your choices.
So number one, just because it's vegan doesn't mean that it's healthy. Scott, what do you mean?
Oh, if it's vegan, it means healthy. No, it's not. You have to understand that
most of these vegan products out here are compromised and I'm being straight up. And
I remember when I was first transitioning, I thought that I can eat anything that was vegan
and I'll be okay. Vegan chips, vegan cookies, vegan fast foods and things of that nature.
But then you have to realize that the fronts of the product is the entertainment while the
back is for education. So as I educated myself and I started to research of why do I get a headache
when I eat products that has citric acid in it? Why do I get a headache or I feel just not good
in my body when I eat products with high fructose corn syrup in it? Reason is because
ingredients matter. Just because it's vegan doesn't mean that it's healthy. So you have to
do the research of certain products and certain things that you're putting into your body.
Because when I was going through my journey, the first time I was eating everything vegan,
but then I'll have stomach aches. I will have gut health problems. I have issues because
the chemicals that were in these certain products. Now speaking about chemicals, number two,
stay away, avoid, or limit your intake on processed vegan meats. You know that thing
called the Beyond Burger. You know that things that is called the Impossible Burger. Well family,
I'll tell you a quick story. I was on a date with a lovely young lady and she was late and I said,
okay, I'm going to eat a Beyond Burger with some fries. I should be okay. After the date,
I developed gastritis and I had to go to the emergency room. So gastritis happens when you
have ample amount of gas in your system because what you ate does not agree with your body.
So I'm terrified of anything that is a processed vegan meat. And the reason why you need to stay
away or limit those things is because they're pumped with a lot of chemicals and they're pumped
with a lot of inflammatory ingredients that will mess up your gut health, mess up your cognitive
function. You know, that's not real food. That is not real food. Like it's junk food. Just because
it's vegan doesn't mean that it's healthy. Good vegan food is also bad vegan food or vegan junk
food. Let's stay more into nature and eat single ingredient foods, right? More fruits, more
vegetables. And number three, I wish I ate more fruits and vegetables when I first started my
journey for sure. I was more of a junk food vegan. Um, and you know, I have some fruits here and
there, but the junk food veganism, it can cause a lot of issues and a lot of problems, especially
chronic illnesses and chronic diseases. I don't know. Some people think that, you know, going
vegan is the Holy grail. It's the start of it, but you have to make sure that you have synergy
with the things that you are consuming within your temple, right? So definitely wish I ate more
fruits and vegetables. I mean, now I'm like 80% fruits and vegetables, but before then,
I wish I did, you know, within the eight years span, of course, in the beginning and everything
like that. You know, an apple is an apple. A mango is a mango. A cherry is a cherry. You know,
they have minerals in it, but they're single food ingredients. Number four, do your research.
Do your research. Now for my story, you heard that it took me eight to nine months of doing
research. So I knew what I was doing. I knew what I was prepping. I knew how to, you know,
supplement certain things and how to replace certain things and have better alternative.
Research is very important. You want to make sure that you're very intentional with your research.
Now you can get your research material from documentaries. You can watch YouTube videos like
this one, you know, subscribe to my channel. Absolutely. For more plant-based vegan content
and calisthenics and things that's just overall health and wellness. I'm here to help you all.
When you expand your research, you know, you can read books, you can read literature,
because when you research, it's going to add a higher level of confidence when you are going
into the journey itself. When you're going into this new path. That's what one of the key things
that I did for my journey to make it somewhat successful. Number five, be realistic with your
journey and know your why. Because your why is going to keep you 10 toes down when you feel like
you don't got a lot of support. You don't have, when you feel like you don't have a lot of support,
when you feel like people are doubting you on the journey, because let me tell you, I faced some
doubts. I definitely faced some doubts from family members, some friends like, oh my God, you're going
to go vegan. Oh, you're going to be so skinny. You're not going to build any muscles. You're
going to shrink. And I beg to differ. So people are going to place their ignorance and they're
going to place their fears on you because they speak from a place of ignorance. They don't know.
And if you don't know, you don't know. But once you do know, once you do the research, there's a
chance for you to do better. All right? So stay realistic, stay 10 toes down on your why. Now,
let me get back to the realistic part. Remember I told you family, it took me eight to nine months
of research before I even got into this lifestyle and started talking about it and doing the thing,
you know? So everybody's different. Identify why you want to go into the lifestyle. Some people
want to do it for health reasons. Some people want to do it for ethical reasons and veganism
is for the animals, making a better environment for the animals. But there's different, you know,
ways that people go about it. But let me tell you, right? You want to be realistic with your
journey because if you're not realistic, you will crash and burn. You will crash and burn.
And there's some people that has been cold turkey that says, you know, I'm not going to eat meat.
I'm not going to do this. I'm not going to do that. And they've been very successful. They've
been very successful with the journey overall. But let me tell you something, right? You just
got to find out what works for you and what works for you, works for you. And then from there,
you just keep on going. All right, family. So we almost there. We're going to get to the spot
and we're going to eat some amazing alkaline vegan food. And we're going to do a little Q&A
and ask some people about their journey and why they transition or, you know, what is something
that they can, why they transitioned into the lifestyle and, you know, what's keeping them
into the lifestyle as well, too. You know, so we're going to get some interaction with that.
All right. Hold on. I'm in real Brooklyn right now, too. Hold on. I'm in downtown Brooklyn. I'm
in real Brooklyn. You know, when you go down here, you see Gowanus houses, man. Shouts to everybody
from the Peas. And I got to be truthful and transparent, man. I wish I went vegan for the
animals. Now I'm vegan for the animals. But I wish I went vegan for the animals and it didn't take me
to get an injury for me to see that we don't need meat. We don't need to eat dead carcasses.
We don't need to torture the animals just to survive. Right. Because I think about it from
time to time and I'm just like, man, I wish I had more compassion back then when I first started my
journey. You know, not to say I was a compassion back then, but like I wish it was different.
You know, different things happen to different people and they see the light, however it is now.
Like I said before, I'm not saying it's the Holy Grail. Right. And I'm only speaking on
my journey and only speaking on my perspective on it. But yeah, man, we don't need to torture
or harm the animals, man. Just go back to the plants, go back to the fruits, go back to the
roots, man. Because the animals and the meat that they sell, especially in America,
is highly tainted. Let me tell you something. Chicken in America is banned in certain countries,
in multiple different countries. Why? Because they spray the chicken with chlorine and all
types of preservatives. So imagine you eating chicken that was sprayed with chlorine.
You're eating chicken that's sprayed with chlorine and all types of preservatives,
which is highly carcinogen. And you wonder why you got headaches. You wonder why you feel
terrible in your body. You wonder why you develop all these chronic illnesses and chronic diseases.
But when you eat the fruits and vegetables, that's not going to happen to you, family.
So it's not about perfection, it's about progression. I'm just here to be the messenger.
So go vegan for the animals. We here, we here, family. We here with some good alkaline vegan
people. What's going on, chef? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. You're on the YouTube vlog. Don't be acting
shy, man. Come on, sneeze. What else? All right, man. Let me see what that shirt says.
Let's get it, man. How you doing, queen? I'm good. Good, good. Yes. Talk to him.
What else? What else? Talk to him. He got it all in one. All in one. Where he can find you? Where
we can find all these services? All right. Give thanks. Give thanks. What's on the menu, man?
What's on the menu? We got it. Oh, hold on. Oh, wait. I'm sorry, R. Kelly. We can't be playing
your music in my videos. All right. Now, you know, you came kind of late, so we kind of sold out of
a lot of things. Okay. Alkaline bacon cheeseburger. Oh, what else? You can add some fries with that.
We have an alkaline barbecue plate. That's a moot macaroni salad, barbecue baked chickpeas,
slow cooked kale, cornbread, fried mushrooms, all barbecue. You said cornbread? Cornbread.
Alkaline cornbread? Alkaline cornbread. Consequences, no repercussions. All right,
now. All right, all right. No itis, no none of that. All energy. Okay, okay.
We have an alkaline watermelon falafel salad. We have, that comes with some quinoa, some red
onions, some cucumber, Brazil nut feta, candied walnuts, and that's all in a sweet shallot
dressing. We have a mac and cheese bowl. We sold out of that, though. Oh, wait, wait. Mac and cheese
bowl, but no dairy, no, no cows was hung. Oh, wow. Oh my God. Ooh, I love me some tamarind. Hey,
and then we have the mushroom kabobs. Oh, hold on. Ooh, look at that. The mushroom kabob,
the tacos. All right. And what's the meaning of alkaline? Talk to the people about that.
Well, alkaline is non-hybrid. Most natural form. It is how nature intended. Okay. That's the most
important thing about alkaline. It's how nature intended. So you're able to have all this food,
as flavorful as it is, without compromising your salad, without compromising your DNA,
without compromising your cell membrane, doing it the right way. So that's what alkaline is.
What inspired you to go this alkaline route? Honestly, it was my husband that brought it up.
We were on our journey at two different times. Like I was vegetarian first,
and then he was vegan first, and then he was alkaline. And I just, you know, I followed his
lead. And he was like, I think this is the best thing for our family. I said, well,
this is it then. Oh, wow. So you submitted. You said, all right, lead the way. Absolutely. All
right. See, take notes, lady. Take notes. Take notes, lady. You know what I'm saying?
All right. All right. I have one of everything. We didn't even get to the desserts and the juices.
Oh, the desserts. Wow. I have the strawberry cheesecakes, the peach cobbler, the blueberry.
That was sold out of all of them. Oh, my God. I'm trying to be an alkaline big back, man. I'm
trying to be an alkaline big back today, man. That's what I'm trying to do today, y'all.
Y'all going to see all this amazing food and why the alkaline vegan life is lit, man.
Put down the teriyaki pig feet. Put down the barbecue orangutan knuckles. Put down the lemon
leopard legs. Put down the jalapeno jaguar legs. Put down the New York City barbecue rat on a
stick, man. Eat alkaline. I have alkaline cheeseburger and I'll have some tacos.
What flavor tacos? I will have some chicken parm without any chicken. All right. Because we don't
eat that. No, we don't. No, we don't. I don't want to say to come down to heaven and slap me.
You know what I mean? Yeah, exactly. Buffalo ranch and the chicken parm. All right.
All right. And the alkaline cheeseburger. I believe I'm getting a kebab on the house.
All right. We even hit with something.
You got to show love to the supporters. Always, my brother. Peace and love, man.
That's great, man. I got to get like you, man. You work out, you exercise. I'll be on myself.
I'm like, this man works out. Exercise is hard, so I'm trying to get like that every day, right?
Listen, man, you even got to you even got to try. You just got to do it. I'm gonna do it.
That's it. I'm gonna do it tonight. I'm gonna go home. I'm gonna do a little something tonight.
Yeah, I'm 50 pushups. I got you. All right. That's my world. That's my world to you. Like,
how did you start your journey into the lifestyle of the alkaline vegan lifestyle?
What propelled you to that? It's a very good question. So basically,
like the point in time, my life where I was just overcame drinking or I was trying to overcome
drinking and popping pills and stop smoking and all this kind of stuff was coming at me.
In the meantime, death saw happening. My wife lost her father, my father-in-law passed away.
My condolences. Thank you. My cousin passed away.
Another one of my wife's uncles passed away. It was just back to back to back.
Right. So and everybody's living,
everybody's diet was jacked up. You know what I'm saying? And I just started doing my homework,
you know, before I saw your page, Yaki's page, Sneeze, all the other brothers that when they
worked, I sat back and I said, what can I do to change? And something just popped into my head.
Eating. Yeah.
On YouTube and I put up eating and you brothers were the first thing I saw.
That's crazy. I saw a couple other Caucasians too,
but I saw the brothers and my sister speaking about eating healthy, exercising.
Yes, sir. You know what I'm saying?
Fasting, detoxing, everything.
Staying away from these foods, food chains and fast food restaurants and
eating out and all that. Standard American diet, man.
You know what I'm saying? Yes, sir.
But it started from me losing out and saying I'm really losing life.
So I want to live. I want to change my living. I want to live.
Exactly. You guys help me, you know,
so it's always a pleasure meeting you, seeing you. Peace, dog.
Still to this day, watch you, brother. Thank you.
You know what I'm saying? Appreciate that, brother.
Thank you. You already know, my brother.
Always, man. Always got to show love, man.
You never know who's watching and that's why I can never stop the journey because I'm a wellness
warrior. You're a wellness warrior and we got to fight against the corrupt system.
It's your mission, man. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
We're on a mission. Like he said, we're not trying.
We're doing it. We're doing it.
All right. All right.
Doing it, y'all. All right.
So we're here. I'm going to show you what I'm working with, right?
Everybody's like, Scott, I thought you was raw vegan.
I did not say I was raw vegan. I have raw vegan moments.
So I got me a alkaline vegan burger. It's looking good, right?
Ooh, look at that. Oh my goodness gracious.
I can't believe it's vegan. Let me show y'all the chicken tacos.
Now the chicken is not made out of chicken. It's not made out of soy.
It's not made out of tempeh. It's not made out of seitan
because those things are trash. Basura.
This is actually made out of oyster mushrooms, but look at it, man.
Oh my God. Oh my God.
I can't wait. I mean, eat it.
Oh, see. It opened it by itself.
I got some, um, I got some alkaline chicken kebabs.
Yeah. So like I said before, the chicken is the oyster mushroom
and the way they season it. So family, I'm about to dig in, man.
I'm about to dig in right now. Do a little, what was it?
Alkaline vegan ASMR.
Oh my God. It's so good.
It made me want to do the boogaloo bounce. Oh my God.
My God. I might have to get dessert after this.
Crazy how people think vegans only eat grass.
We be eating good. We be eating damn good.
I don't know what you be getting your vegan food from, but we be eating good over here.
Oh wow. Oh my God.
Be at a alkaline Big Mac right now.
Forgive me for not wiping my face in the last couple of clips.
I was just having a lot of fun indulging in this amazing alkaline vegan food.
And nowadays I'm mostly like high raw.
I eat a lot of like fruits and vegetables, of course,
but sometimes I do like to eat some cooked food and I'm not ashamed to say that.
And I'm not afraid to say that whatsoever.
That's just truth and transparency.
And if the food is good, I'm going to eat it, you know,
especially if it's alkaline vegan as well too.
So I know the shirt says, don't bother me. I'm fasting, but don't bother me. I'm eating.
When people go into the vegan lifestyle, they could just eat whatever they want.
That's vegan.
Sometimes we need to stop eating cooked vegan foods and go back to a raw vegan.
Fruits and vegetables, one single ingredient items instead of having cooked food.
Because when you cook the food, you remove the nutrition value from the food.
Not completely, but to a certain degree, you know.
So definitely I would encourage people to do more fasting, more detoxing, more juicing.
Also incorporate herbs, herbal teas into your regimen and not coffee,
because coffee is trash, basura.
Then that can be very revolutionary for your overall health and wellness
and just your overall well-being.
All right, family.
So yeah, man, this blueberry juice is hitting.
So it has blueberry, ginger, sea moss. That's it.
One thing I like about their juices, they don't mix a whole bunch of fruit together.
But like, oh, it's a fruit juice.
It's like, no, we mono. We mono over here.
We don't mix watermelon and strawberry. It's watermelon.
Well, family, it looks like it's raining right now.
So I'm going to close the video.
