Lace Cable Knitting A Beautiful Stitch That Doesn' t Curl No Cable Needle. So Woolly.

Today we're going to knit the Mock Lace Cable Stitch Pattern. This is the other side of the work. We need to cast on multiples of 5, plus 2, plus 2 edge or selvage stitches. So, I'm going to cast on 5 times 2, 10, plus 2, 12, plus 2, 14 stitches. Row 1, right side of the work. We start with knit 1, the edge stitch, and here comes the repeat. The repeat is what you will find between asterisks in the written instructions. Remember, you can find my patterns on my website sewwoolly.net and there is a link for you below this video in the description box. The repeat is, purl 2, knit 2, knit 3. Keep repeating, only there are 3 stitches left. And then with purl 2, knit 1, the edge stitch. But only on this first row, I like to work the last stitch through the back loop. So I'm going to knit the last one through the back loop. This way we can avoid a huge loop. Row 2, purl 1, the edge stitch. Just work each stitch as it presents. So, the repeat is, knit 2, 1, 2, purl 3, 1, 2, and 3. Keep repeating, only there are 3 stitches left. Ending with knit 2, and purl 1, the edge stitch. Row 3, this is the one where we have to pay attention. We start with knit 1, the edge stitch, and here comes the repeat. Purl 2, yarn over, keep the yarn here in front of the work, and now we're going to make a double decrease. Slip the next one as if to knit, knit 2 together. This will create a yarn over. Knit those 2. Here is your yarn over, and here is the stitch we slipped. So we're going to pass this one over the last one. Yarn over. We have to do it this way, because next we're going to purl. It looks like a double yarn over, but it isn't. That's the repeat. Let's do it again. Purl 2, yarn over, keep the yarn here in front of the work, slip the next as if to knit, knit 2 together. When we do that, we create a yarn over here. And pass the slipped stitch over the last one. Yarn over. If you have more stitches, keep repeating until there are 3 stitches left, ending with purl 2, knit 1, the edge stitch. Remember, every time we're going to make a yarn over before a purl stitch, we have to do this. To create the yarn over, a single one, and keep the working yarn in front of the work, because we're going to purl. Purl 2, knit 1, the edge stitch. Row 4, again, we're going to work each stitch as it presents. Purl 1, the edge stitch. And here comes the repeat. Knit 2, 1, 2. And we're going to purl these 3. The yarn over, the double decrease, and the yarn over again. That's the repeat. Keep repeating until there are 3 stitches left, ending with knit 2, purl 2, and purl the last one, the edge or selvage stitch. Row 5, we start with knit 1, the edge or selvage stitch, and here comes the repeat. Purl 2, 1, 2. Knit 1, yarn over, SSK. So, slip, slip, knit. That means slip 1 as if to knit, slip the next one as if to knit. Put both back onto the left needle again. Here is your yarn over, and knit those 2 together through the back loop. That's the repeat. Let's do it again. Purl 2, knit 1, yarn over, SSK. Slip as if to knit, slip as if to knit. Put both back onto the left needle, and knit them together through the back loop. If you have more stitches, keep repeating until there are 3 stitches left, ending with purl 2, and knit 1, the edge stitch. Row 6, purl 1, the edge stitch, and here comes the repeat. Knit 2, we are creating like a ribbon, and purl 3. Knit 1, yarn over, and knit 3. Keep repeating until there are 3 stitches left, ending with knit 2, and purl 1, the edge or selvage stitch. And there you have it. These 6 rows create the pattern. Repeat them until the desired length is reached. When finished, bind off, working each stitch as it presents after row 5, that means facing the wrong side of the work. And you can see clearly. Knit 4, and 2, and 3, and so on.
