In this video we're going to start building some simple sentences.
We learned a bunch of vocabulary in the last video so in order to start using the vocabulary
I'm going to give you some little useful words that we can use to join up and connect words
and sentences together. To say it is in Spanish is one word. Es. It's just one syllable. Es.
How would you say it is important? Es importante. It is possible. Es posible. It is normal. Es
normal. It's flexible. Es flexible. It's official. Es oficial. It's terrible. Es terrible. It's
optional. Es opcional. It's brilliant. Es brillante. It's horrible. Es horrible. It's
vibrant. Es vibrante. Now the negative of it is would be it isn't. In Spanish it would simply be
So we're simply adding on this no in front of es to make it negative. So we have es or it is
but no es. It isn't. So how would you say it isn't possible? No es posible. It isn't compatible.
Here we have it's not ideal. It isn't or it's not. Really the same thing. It's going to be
expressed with no es. So it would be No es ideal. Try to say it's not relevant. No es relevante.
It's not important. No es importante. It's not normal. No es normal. It's not terrible.
No es terrible. It's not official. No es oficial. The word for very is muy. Let's try to use it.
How would you say it's very musical? Es muy musical. It's very special. Es muy especial.
It's not very relevant. No es muy relevante. It's not very local. No es muy local. It's very
flexible. Es muy flexible. It's very formal. Es muy formal. It's not very important.
No es muy importante. To say good in Spanish the word is bueno. Then on the other side of this
we have bad which is malo. So bueno and malo. How would you say it's good? Es bueno. What about
it's very good? Es muy bueno. It's bad. Es malo. It's not bad. No es malo. The word for and in
is spelled as a y. So it's just one letter but it's pronounced as a double e. And of course this
is a very common word that will string words and sentences together. So if you wanted to say Pablo
and Camila it would be Pablo y Camila. How would you say it's good and bad? Es bueno y malo. It's
elegant and vibrant. Es elegante y vibrante. It's terrible and horrible. Es terrible y horrible.
It's very personal and it's important. Es muy personal y es importante. To say something in
It's something good. Es algo bueno. It's something personal. Es algo personal. It's not something
musical. No es algo musical. It's something special. Es algo especial. It's something very
important. Es algo muy importante. It's something experimental and optional. Es algo experimental
y opcional. The word for now is simply ahora. Ahora. Now it's important. Ahora es importante.
Now it's official. Ahora es oficial. It's not possible now. No es posible ahora. It's not
very important now. No es muy importante ahora. To say like this or like that is all expressed
with one word in Spanish. In fact it's just one syllable. Así. You can hear the stress
coming on the end here. Así. How would you say it's not possible like that? No es posible así.
It's not very flexible like that. No es muy flexible así. Yes, like that. Sí, así. It's
impossible like that. Es imposible así. The word for so is tan. Try to say it's so important.
Es tan importante. It's not so terrible like that. No es tan terrible así. The word for in Spanish
is para. Para. And to say for me would be para mí. So how would you say it is for me? Es para mí.
It's something for me. Es algo para mí. It's very normal for me like that. Es muy normal para
mí así. To say for him would be para él. Try to say it's very important for him. Es muy importante
para él. If you wanted to say for her then it would be para ella. How would you say it's something
very special for her? Es algo muy especial para ella. Throughout the lesson to say it is we've
been using es, and to say it isn't or it's not we say no es. So we have a very nice pairing here.
Now the past of it is would be it was. The sound is fue. Equally we could say it wasn't,
which again is very simple. It's no fue. So we have fue for it was and no fue it wasn't.
How would you say it was important? Fue importante. It was something special for me.
Fue algo especial para mí. It wasn't possible. No fue posible. It wasn't possible for me.
No fue posible para mí. It wasn't so terrible. No fue tan terrible. It was incredible. Fue
increíble. It wasn't something optional. No fue algo opcional. It wasn't something intentional.
No fue algo intencional. Now I know it's been quite a long video but before we finish off
I have a big bonus that I want to share with you. We know that es means it is. Then we have fue for
it was. Well both of these little words actually hold a lot more power because they can also be
used for the angle of he and she. What this means is that es will stand for it is, he is and she is.
All of that power is packed into this one syllable es. Likewise fue can be used for it was, he was
or she was. So with one sound we can express three different angles. Let's look at some examples.
He is ignorant. Es ignorante. He's very formal. Es muy formal. She's very musical. Es muy musical.
Even if we just have es on its own we'll still use es. So how would you say it?
Camila is very elegant. Camila es muy elegante.
