Avalanche Lake in Glacier National Park 4K

Good morning. It is May 10th, 2026. We are at the Avalanche Creek trailhead today in Glacier National Park and we're going to head up to Avalanche Lake. If we just go to the foot of the lake it'll be about six miles depending on how we feel when we get there. We might go to the other other end of the lake making it about a seven mile hike but that's where we're going to head today in Glacier The hike to Avalanche Lake begins just off the going to the sun road at the Avalanche Creek campground. The trail itself follows Avalanche Creek all the way up to the lake. This is one of the most popular hikes in Glacier for good reason. It's relatively moderate or easy with excellent views of several peaks behind the lake. So the Sperry trail from Lake McDonnell lodge is closed. They had an unfortunate bear incident there. Here it's just posted for bear frequenting so the trail is still open. This is where we had our early breakfast at Avalanche Lake. Headed back from the lake to the trailhead. We are approaching the trailhead for Avalanche Creek. We made it our way into Avalanche Lake today. It's about six miles out and back. Great day in Glacier. I think they just opened the road to this trailhead a few days ago so we made quick use of it. I had a nice breakfast at the lake and we're headed out. Saw some friends along the way.
