Utah prosecutors back in court today laying out their case against Tyler
Robinson, the man accused of killing conservative icon Charlie Kirk at stake
this week is whether there's enough evidence to send Robinson to trial. Fox
10's Mark Martinez joins us now with more. Yeah, john and Christina Day two
of this preliminary hearing centered heavily on digital evidence and
critical forensic files. We saw some new surveillance videos in court as
prosecutors attempted to trace the suspect's exact path on campus while
the defense worked to poke holes in the state's evidence in how Robinson
was identified. Charlie Kirk's family arriving to the Provo courthouse for
day two of Tyler Robinson's preliminary hearing. The high stakes hearing is set
to go all week and will decide if the case goes to trial. Prosecutors are
expected to present a recorded statement from his roommate and former
romantic partner. Do you believe you recognize who that person is? Yes. Who
is that? I believe that's Tyler Robinson today. Prosecutors shared
surveillance video allegedly showing Tyler Robinson walking on UVU campus
the day Charlie Kirk was murdered. He is wearing different clothing and he also
is walking with a gate or limp in the studio. Investigators believe Robinson
is walking with a limp because there was a gun or a part to a gun in his
pants. We think this video is um gonna play a big role in the trial. The video
then allegedly shows Robinson climbing onto the roof and getting into sniper
position. We're clear this is the roof of the low C building. Correct. Can you
still see that individual? Yes, you can. Lane prone. You believe this to be Mr
Robinson? I do. Yes. But the defense is fighting back against the state's
forensic claims. Defense attorneys pointed to an FBI DNA lab report
regarding a towel found wrapped around the rifle at the scene. While
prosecutors claim the towel contains Robinson's DNA. The defense highlighted
that the forensic analysts who signed the report noted the results did not
provide a quote absolute identification and Robinson faces
multiple charges including aggravated murder. He has not yet entered a plea
and his lawyers believe there is no chance that the case will go to trial.
But prosecutors say there is a mountain of evidence here and they're seeking
the death penalty reporting in studio. Mark Martinez, Fox 10 News.
