You can reset your life anytime, any day, and I'm gonna show you how.
My room is a mess, my routine is non-existent,
and honestly I've been feeling so off my game for the past few weeks now and I'm tired of it.
I think we all fall into this trap of waiting for a perfect Monday,
or sometimes even the start of the year, to try to get our lives together and reset our lives.
But you know what? I realized that a perfect time does not exist.
You can literally reset your life anytime.
I'm resetting my life today, it's a random Friday,
and I'm going to do it all in just one day because I'm tired of feeling so sluggish every single day,
and I'm going to bring you along with me.
This is Yuki's little own corner on my bed, so I never really move this part.
We're gonna tackle this stack of clothes and keep everything back into the wardrobe.
So what I usually like to do is to sort my clothes out into different piles first,
based on like my tops, my bottoms, my towels,
then I keep them into the closet because that way I find it to be a bit more efficient.
Did I do well?
I have to show you what I've taught Yuki to do because this is like her favourite activity now.
Ruby, can you help me take my clothes?
Okay, let's go.
Let's go!
I'm gonna tie the ribbon that I usually use to tie my curtains,
and I found a little hook that I can tie them on.
It's kind of like a decoration that I think will make me happy when I see it.
Second thought, I don't think it looks that nice.
Maybe it's a scale issue.
I'm actually the opposite of a hoarder.
I'm a thrower, and I have some things that I want to clear out
because I have been putting them at the back of my mind,
and it's been sitting in my cupboard for a really long time.
Oh my gosh, look what I found while packing.
I bought these glasses, sunglasses,
some time back because I saw Jenny wearing them,
and I thought it looked really cool.
But I don't think that it suits me, that's why it's been kept in the closet.
Not in the closet, in the drawers.
Not in the drawers, what am I talking about?
In my shelf.
This is everything I've cleared out.
I actually haven't been using nail polishes in the past few years,
and I think these are from my secondary school to poly days,
which are like almost 10 years ago.
On the topic of clearing things and consumption in general,
I have actually grown to be a lot more mindful of the things that I buy
because I want to minimise waste.
I believe that we don't need a lot of material things to be happy,
and I find that when I buy a lot of things, it increases my clutter,
which then makes my space a lot messier,
and thus I get overstimulated really easily.
For example, this applies even to Yuki.
I actually only have one harness for her.
I think what's important to her is that we spend lots of quality time together,
and that I bring her out for long walks.
I think that these are more important in terms of for her happiness,
rather than material goods which she can't really appreciate.
After all of that packing, let's go make some coffee.
Although I love aesthetics, I'm also a pretty practical person,
so I enjoy using a thermal cup so that my drink stays either cold or hot,
even though it doesn't look as pretty.
Adding some oat milk.
First sip of coffee today.
I'm also using a straw by the way, it's just really small.
One thing that I think is really important for us to feel well-rested,
and to feel like ourselves again, is to schedule rest.
Make sure that you are able to take care of yourself by scheduling rest,
because I know that a lot of us are kind of like workaholics,
and I speak from my own experience.
Whenever I'm awake, I'm thinking about work,
and even when I'm done with work, I think of more work.
I think that's really unhealthy because we are not taking care of ourselves
by not taking enough breaks.
And by breaks, I mean completely sign off from work,
and just indulge in your hobbies,
or just watch a show, whatever you want to do,
but spend that time for yourself.
And on that note, when I'm in my reset mode,
I don't just want to clean out my space,
I also want to declutter my mind and close my mental taps.
So the next thing I'm gonna do is to make some okra treats for Yuki.
Yuki, I'm gonna go make your okra treats now.
Do you wanna come with me?
Or you wanna stay here?
My mum actually bought this big pack of Lady's Finger,
which is also known as okra.
But I don't think that Yuki can finish all of this in one month,
so I'm just gonna use half of it.
Today, I'm also going for a haircut because my hair has been utterly chopped.
For the past few weeks, my ends have been so dry,
and I've actually cut a lot of it off by myself.
I think in total, I did it over a span of a few days.
I think in total, I chopped off about this much on my own.
This is my hairdresser, his band.
It's late evening now, and I already feel so much lighter.
I think I finally shed that sluggishness I woke up with.
If you've enjoyed this, I'd love to hear how you're taking care of yourself this weekend.
Let me know in the comments, and I'll see you in the next one.
Bye!
