Here's what happened in the qualifying race is round 11 of the FI motocross world championship MXGP of South Africa
The next two qualifying Simon Langevelde just up the inside of Julius Miekele
He was there in second and then to his outside
Rushing into turn two the fastest rider in time practice Janis Racel is quickly moving by into that second place
Miekele pushed down to third
And then just behind him Perez towards the opening lap end of the opening lap Perez
Put it across the rider from Czech Republic to drop into third
He had McClellan just behind him and Everts as well
Everts making a good run Everts found his way past at the bottom of the hill lost out and then regained that third position here
When Miekele just tentatively ran off track ever so slightly
Perez then found his way onto the rear wheel of Janis Racelis made this pass for second on lap 4 of 12
Racelis then came under pressure from Kevin McClellan who also found his way past but Simon Langevelde absolutely immaculate
He went on to win for the first time in 2026. Perez second, McClellan third, Janis and Carlos Racelis your top five
In the MXGP qualifying race Jeffrey Hurlings decided to go all the way to the outside gate
But up the inside as he got forced wide by Oriol Oliveira and was left in around about 15th place
It was Lukas Koonen, Roman Fevre, Calvin Verlanderen and to the outside on the bank the other Kawasaki of Pauls Jonas
Fevre tried to find his way by into lead
Initially, but it was Koonen as we worked our way around through the first rhythm through turn three that emerged as the leader
Helsinger was the lead Dutchman and then Hurlings did come through that was for ninth on lap two
Hurlings eventually got his way back to sixth position his teammate Ruben Fernandez fell outside of the top couple of positions
And then he would re-emerge outside of the top 15 and then also all of a sudden find his way back to 10th place
The long downhill and Roman Fevre going after Lukas Koonen here
That's how close they were throughout the race. Tim Geiser fell from seventh
Picked himself up in ninth and that allowed Hurlings' Adama Renault to go by the Slovenian
Lukas Koonen though
Weathered the storm, Fevre backed off on the final lap, Koonen went on to win for the fifth time this year on a Saturday
Fevre at Jonas Bialt, Vlaanderen at home in the top five. That's how it finished here in the quali race in South Africa
