About a month back Ducati announced that they'll be revealing their new 2020 bikes at their world
premiere event held on the 23rd of October. That's just a couple of weeks before this year's EICMA
show in Milan so it's safe to assume the new bikes will be on display to the public for the
first time there and hopefully a couple of weeks later at Motorcycle Live in the UK.
Last year Ducati announced 12 new models at their October event with bikes including the Panigale
V4 S, Multistrada 950, Diavel 1260 and updated Hypermotard 950. We might be lucky to get 12 this
year but there are still plenty of rumours swirling with just a few weeks to go so in this video we'll
take a look at some of the bikes expected from Ducati this year. The V4 Streetfighter should be
no surprise to anyone as it's been well publicised already. The racing prototype was unveiled ahead
of this year's Pikes Peak hill climb and a production model has been on the cards ever since.
Ducati have confirmed it with full scale production anticipated by the end of the
first quarter of 2020. There are no technical specs available for the production model as of yet
but we can assume that it'll be very similar to the Panigale V4 but with regular handlebars
which will be higher and wider resulting in a friendlier riding position. The fairings will of
course be removed with a Streetfighter front end that looks not dissimilar to the Kawasaki Z1000
or the KTM Super Duke 1290. The Streetfighter might have a slightly different tune to the
Panigale but here's a reminder of the Panigale's specs. The base V4 so not the S or R model puts
out a peak of 214 horsepower and 124 newton meters of torque from its 1100cc motor and it
weighs in at just 175 kilograms dry. Occasionally the naked versions of bikes are lighter than their
faired counterparts owing to the weight of the bodywork so the Streetfighter could be a tasty
ride indeed. In fact the V4 Streetfighter has already been spotted out testing in the usual
camouflage alongside what looks to be an updated Panigale 959. Some rumors have speculated that a
smaller V4 was in the works but the bike in testing confirms that it will be a twin. Euro 5
emissions regulations are looming so the huge exhaust collector could be a move to get the
bike to scrape through. We can also see a single-sided swingarm which would be a change from
the conventional swingarm of the current 959 as well as a redesigned front end which more closely
resembles that of the Panigale V4. An updated electronics package is also expected from this
bike with the existing model having fairly basic traction control and ABS. The addition of an IMU
would allow Ducati to introduce the likes of cornering ABS and wheelie control. This seems
like a long shot but on the channel we've previously covered the rumors of a V4 Multistrada.
It's believed to have been spotted in testing near the Ducati factory in the Borgo Panigale
district of Bologna, although there are no pictures to back up the claims. The prototype
spotted was apparently similar to the aesthetic of the current twin Multistrada but radar sensors
were visible on the bike which suggests it includes Ducati's ARAS or advanced rider assistance system
which scans the surrounding environment and alerts the rider if it anticipates a hazard or
impending collision as well as enabling adaptive cruise control. But Multistrada fans would be most
excited about the increasing power that the V4 motor could offer with claims that it could put
out about 190 horsepower which would be a big jump from the 158 of the current Multistrada 1260.
But are we realistically going to see a V4 Multistrada at this year's launch event or is
it just a prototype for a bike to be released further in the future? Leaked documents from the
US Environmental Protection Agency actually name a Multistrada 1260 GT so perhaps we'll have to
wait for the V4 if a new twin is on the way. GT or Grand Tour would suggest that this model will
be kitted out for longer rides so expect a tall screen, full luggage, heated grips, electronic
suspension and other creature comforts. But although an accessorized version of an existing
model might come as a bit of a disappointment to some Ducati fans, MCN speculate that the Arras
radar tech that we've already mentioned could be present in this model so at least there's that to
look forward to. Also mentioned in the same document is a scrambler icon dark. This isn't a
new idea, Ducati have offered a dark version of the monster in the past and other manufacturers
have done similar such as Triumph with the T120 black. Essentially we'll be looking at a matte
blacked out version of the existing scrambler icon which currently only comes in orange or
yellow. I've used photoshop here to show you pretty much what that will look like and mechanically
it's expected to remain unchanged. Another document from the US Environmental Protection
Agency names a couple of new variants of the scrambler 1100, the pro and the pro sport. We
already have a sport version of the 1100 which upgrades the base model by adding fully adjustable
Olin suspension so what does the pro mean? The only logical conclusion that most speculators
have come to is that it's a response to the triumph 1200 scrambler. The pro denotes an
attempt to make the 1100 scrambler a more viable off-roader, a larger capacity desert sled if you
will. When Ducati adapted the 800 scrambler into the desert sled they lengthened the travel of the
suspension and gave it girthier forks, extended the swing arm, reinforced the frame and fixed
the swing arm to the frame rather than the motor. The sled also has better mudguard clearance and a
bunch of styling changes so we might see similar adaptations to the scrambler 1100 for the pro
with the pro sport offering higher spec equipment. Lastly the teaser image for the world premiere
features a bike under a cover and a bit of photoshop comparison reveals that it's definitely
a monster. Credit to Bennett's Bike Social for pointing out that the gold Marchesini wheels
are that of the 25th anniversary edition of the 1200 monster launched last year so there might
not be a new monster at all. But they go on to speculate that Ducati could have chosen a monster
for a reason and that updating the smaller monster 821 with the 950 motor of the Multistrada, Hyper
Motard and Supersport would make sense from a business perspective. But ultimately all will be
revealed on the 23rd of October. Which of these rumours do you guys think have some plausibility
and which do you think are total rubbish? Let me know in the comments below. I'll be heading to
Eicma to cover the show this year so I can't wait to bring you some videos of the new Ducati range
so if you're new here and you want to see those videos hit subscribe and I'll see you next time.
