Russia says it has shot down more than 500 Ukrainian “air threats” in a single night, after Kyiv launched one of its biggest combined drone and missile attacks of the war. Russian officials insisted that their air defences intercepted the bulk of the barrage and warned that any bid to damage civilian sites “will not go unanswered”. At the strategic level, the Kremlin is putting the West firmly on its radar. Moscow says around 13,000 Ukrainian air threats were destroyed in June and alleges that many were produced with support from European countries, including the U.K.
