AI GeneratedActors Michael Broadway, Matt Cornett, and Sadie Sink engage in a lighthearted interview discussing their experiences filming \"Every Year After.\" They share personal anecdotes about their careers, irrational fears, and their dynamics as co-stars, while touching upon their first impressions of one another and their connections to the Disney brand.
Do you consider yourself a Disney adult?
I don't say, do you consider me a Disney adult?
I do consider you a Disney adult.
Michael, welcome.
Thank you.
I'm happy for you, I'm happy that you're taking this step.
I'm really proud of you.
I have some things I need to work on.
Yeah, we know.
First things first, I feel like this is a really important question.
What do you feel like has been your most humbling Hollywood moment so far?
Humbling?
Yeah, humbling.
I think just always being out with you.
You are Matt Cornett of High School Musical.
No, seriously.
I think being your friend is very humbling.
What was your first impression of me and Matt?
My first impression of Matt was that he's so cool.
When I heard that we were going to do a chemistry read,
I watched some of your interviews.
I'm Matt Cornett and I play EJ.
And I was like, this guy's just like a regular guy.
And Sadie, I had actually, I watched Saltburn previously.
Oh no.
And I was like, I can't believe this is the same person.
And then when I read the book, I was like,
when I first met you, I was like, this is Percy.
I see why they cast you.
Have you ever had a rejection that ended up as a blessing?
I'm a more anxious person than my fiance.
If I'm ever late to something or I miss the public transportation,
she loves to say burnt toast.
So basically...
She's having a stroke.
Because burnt toast is basically like,
if you miss that appointment, that train, basically like rejection,
it's because you were supposed to,
either maybe you would have gotten hit by a car that day.
You know what I mean?
No, seriously.
And so I feel like that type of rejection,
I feel like happens to us all the time.
It's just burnt toast.
Just throw another piece of toast in there.
It doesn't matter.
Something that we've both talked about
and where we really want to kind of ask you,
name a time one of us has let you down.
Oh God.
Only one.
I know there's a lot.
It's obviously Matt.
Sadie's never let me down.
We were playing cornhole and I twisted my ankle pretty bad.
Wait, was this at Bowen?
And they were like,
Matt, Michael, they're ready for you.
Have to go.
And I was like, trick shot.
And I threw the coral thing and I landed on my left foot
and I twisted my ankle so bad.
And I told Matt about it and he didn't care.
I was like, Michael, we've got to get back to set.
Like we have to get back to set.
Uh, I'm sorry.
It was a traumatic experience, which is why I'm in therapy.
What's one thing that you're deeply terrified of?
I have this irrational fear that
one day I'm just going to wake up in prison
and no one's going to know I'm there.
So I'm just going to wake up in gen pop
and I'm going to be stuck there for the rest of my life.
If that were to happen, what would you be in prison for?
Nothing.
Just I wake up and the wrong paperwork was filed.
They're like, Michael Broadway.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think that's a great fear to have.
It's, yeah.
If you guys woke up in prison.
No, but I don't mean that.
I mean, like, that's really inventive fear, I think.
No, it is.
That's why it's an irrational fear.
It's like spiders.
Who are you more scared to disappoint,
Carly Fortune or Every Year After fans?
Oh my God, Carly Fortune.
This is her baby.
She's our creator.
The days I was the most nervous on set
were the days that Carly was there
because I wanted her approval so bad.
Yeah.
How would you, Michael, deal with this question?
Kiss, marry, kill.
Percy, Sam, Charlie.
As Michael.
They just all have so many redeeming qualities.
I would marry Sam because he's a sweetheart.
Sure.
Don't want to kiss him though, huh?
Which is why I'd marry him.
It would be a physical less relationship.
I would probably kiss Charlie.
Yeah.
And unfortunately, I'd have to get rid of Percy.
That's okay.
Because she's for Sam.
That's okay.
Wow.
That's a really depth amount of glass.
Wow.
This seat is very warm.
Okay, Matt.
Hi.
I feel so calm, cool, and collected right now.
Okay, Matt.
So what is your first memory of being in the spotlight and liking it?
And liking it.
Liking it.
It was right after I did High School Musical.
Me and the cast were at Disneyland
and we were walking through the parks
and we had our guide and one security guard.
We had an instance where we had people start to swarm us by the end of it.
Probably a collective total of like 500 people around us
to the point to where they had to completely close off part of the park.
They had to rope it off, bring in police and security,
and then more guides to just kind of get us out of there.
And I think that was the first time that I was like,
this is like a real thing.
And like I've made a real thing that people really love
and are really excited about.
So yeah, probably that.
Cool.
Am I going to get to read that later?
No.
Okay.
This is for me.
Cool.
Next question.
What celebrity couple do you ship the way people ship Percy and Sam?
Zendaya and Tom Holland.
I love both of them so much.
They have these cute little tattoos.
They're like tiny little T and Z.
Great.
Good work, guys.
Honestly.
Matt's such a romantic.
I am.
He always has been.
I am.
I love love.
Love's love.
I like that.
Has a fan interaction ever caught you completely off guard?
Yeah.
Once again, I was at Disneyland.
Reoccurring experience here.
I had this mom run up behind me and she wrapped her arms around me
and put her chin on my shoulder and put her cheek to my cheek
and was like, I love you so much.
You're so, you're so amazing.
My kids love you so much.
She had had a couple Disney margaritas, I think.
My amazing guide DJ was just like, let's grab a photo.
And he like pulled her off of me.
It was incredibly jarring,
but ended up being a perfectly fine experience.
And I took photos with her kids and yeah,
but caught me very off guard.
Have you been to Disney since?
I just, I don't have the heart to go.
Yeah, I've been so many times.
Do you consider yourself a Disney adult?
I don't say, did you consider me a Disney adult?
I do consider you a Disney adult.
I don't consider myself like a Disney adult.
While I am a huge Disney fan, like I love the parks.
I love everything that has to do with Disney.
I have not gotten to the point yet where I own all of the merchandise
that they own and like dress up for these amazing things.
Yeah.
But I do love Disney and I'm a big Disney fan.
So what is one acting note you low-key rolled your eyes at?
This is funny because I'm such a hypocrite for this.
Because I say it all the time.
I think anytime someone is like, hey, let's just have fun this take.
It's like, I love one of those.
No, it's great because I do say it because it does relieve the pressure.
But also it's like, aren't we supposed to be having fun all the time?
I thought I was having fun.
But I was having a great time.
I was, that wasn't fun.
What's more chaotic, Disney or iPod?
iPod?
That's so funny.
Can you explain what iPod is?
It was kind of how I started acting.
It was a convention that stood for the International Presentation of Performers.
It's like a week-long intensive thing.
And you perform monologues and scenes in front of all these agents.
They have modeling things where you can walk the runway.
I think inherently in like a short span of time,
iPod is probably way more hectic because Disney has all their people
that line everything up and make it very organized
and very easy for you to navigate whatever situation you're going to be in.
If you had to give up golf or acting forever, starting today, which would it be?
You can't ask me this question.
I mean, listen, inherently I have to say golf because acting is like,
is what I love so much.
Oh my gosh.
The idea of not golfing again for the rest of my life
is one of the most miserable thoughts I've ever thought.
You have to know he's so good.
He's like a four handicap.
It's three, but it's...
Acting is my job.
That's how I make money.
I can't make money golfing.
For the instinct of survival, I have to get rid of golf.
What other actor would you want to play golf with if you could?
I really want to play with Kevin Hart or Chris Pratt.
I know Kevin Hart is like really into the golf game right now,
and I feel like it would be the funniest round of golf I've ever played.
Yeah, that's true.
I don't know if I'd be able to focus because I feel like I'd be laughing so hard, so...
Or he's just really serious and he's not a comedian.
Which is equally kind of...
Also funny.
He survived.
Wow, I'm so nervous.
I'm really nervous.
Thank you.
I'm excited to get to know Sadie.
I am too.
I just feel like I don't know her at all, you know?
Hey, honesty is the best policy, Sadie.
What's one deeply British habit you had to completely drop to pass as an American?
You guys don't say quite.
I feel like that's quite a British thing.
That's quite hard.
Also like you guys speak quite...
You guys speak quite loudly, which is a great thing.
No, I'm not saying...
Like you do.
I feel like British people are like...
And you can't always understand what we're saying.
Who is the messiest in a personal life between the three of us?
I don't know.
Don't look at me that way.
I don't know.
I honestly, I couldn't...
But not Michael is my answer.
Because also Michael's in a beautiful relationship.
All right, so it's between you and me, huh?
What kind of friend are you in the group chat?
In general, in like your friend group chats.
In general, I feel like I'm good.
I love a little joke.
Are you like...
Love a little flirt, you know?
Are you a gif?
I love a gif.
You know what's funny is if you have a friend who's like actually in a gif,
I love sending those.
I love doing that.
He's got some great ones.
You've got a couple of great ones too.
I'm excited for yours to come.
Does the Every Year After cast have a group chat name?
It's just each.
It's just AYA with a photo of me going...
Yeah, wait, wait.
It's so funny.
Percy spends the whole show carrying around a secret.
What's something you've been holding on to that you need to get off your chest right now?
I honestly am an open book, I feel.
Nothing you want to say to us, huh?
No, I feel like I'm truly an open book.
I think if I would say anything, if I need to...
I know you don't believe me.
No, actually I do.
Yeah, I mean maybe when I was texting you last night,
you guys were like, come down for dinner.
And I was like, yeah, I'm just eating.
But I wasn't, the food wasn't there.
Yeah, I just was lying in bed.
Hey, and that's fine, I don't blame you.
Yeah, a little white lie.
A little white lie.
I love a little white lie.
So did you actually end up eating?
I did, I did eat a bit.
But I just, I was texting you like, my food's here.
Do you think your Every Year After character would have survived Saltburn?
Saltburn?
Saltburn.
I mean, the university, she probably would have.
Because I think it's Oxford University, which is like a very intellectual place.
And she's a writer.
A lot of great writers probably came out of Oxford.
Yeah.
I mean, the mare, I don't think.
I mean, Percy might have.
She could have swum in the lake with all the lotus flowers and stuff.
I think she would have enjoyed that.
If Barry Keoghan showed up at the cottage, what happens to Percy and Sam's love story?
Oh, wow, what a question.
If Barry showed up at the-
At the cottage, yeah.
I don't think anything would have changed.
I think probably just be like, ciao, like, how are you?
What are you doing here?
Sam and Barry would be great friends.
You think?
I don't know that.
I don't know, Sam's the jealous type.
I don't know anything about Barry, so.
He's great.
I didn't take a single note.
That's how good you are.
Thank you so much for watching.
And make sure you watch every year after on Prime Video.
Back to you in the studio.
