Cause Célèbre features a compelling early performance from Helen Mirren, alongside the exceptional David Suchet and David Morrissey.

Set in the 1930s Bournemouth, songwriter Alma Rattenbury (Mirren) falls into a feverish affair with her teenage handyman (Morrissey). As their connection spirals, it culminates in the savage killing of her husband, Francis Rattenbury. The ensuing "Cause Célèbre" became a trial that transfixed 1930s England, enthralled by the scandal of a woman flouting the rigid social boundaries of her era.
