The Supreme Court closed its term with a chaotic mix of rulings, blocking Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship while allowing states to ban transgender students from sports teams matching their gender identity. The Court also struck down limits on coordinated party spending, turning political parties into unlimited, campaign-aligned money machines with cheap ad rates and direct coordination. Between the Alito retirement false alarm, Clarence Thomas’ strange Capitol visit, and a new AR-15 case coming this fall, the Court left for recess after making American politics even more unstable, more expensive, and more dangerous.
