We’re back in Los Angeles to share the story of the How House, a 100-year-old home designed by renowned Los Angeles architect Rudolph Schindler for its original owner, Dr. James Eads How. This remarkable residence reflects Schindler’s forward-thinking approach to modern living, with spaces that emphasize light, simplicity, and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

In this episode, we sit down with current stewards Spencer and Taylor, who share how they came to acquire this architectural gem and what it means to take on the responsibility of caring for a historically significant home. They reflect on the balance between preserving the architect’s original vision and making the home livable for today, as well as the deep sense of stewardship that comes with protecting a piece of architectural history.

Through their story, we hope to highlight the importance of preserving significant homes like the How House, originally built for Dr. James Eads How, and the role dedicated owners play in ensuring these spaces continue to be appreciated for generations to come.
