The Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Allan Wilson

The score emphasizes mood and atmosphere, effectively conveying the dark, windswept landscapes of Newfoundland and the introspective journey of the protagonist, Quoyle. While it includes some affective motifs, the soundtrack does not strongly connect to the characters’ emotional arcs, making it more suitable for listeners who appreciate Irish-inspired orchestral music rather than a deeply narrative-driven score.
Overall, the music complements the film’s tone but is considered subdued and conventional compared to other Christopher Young scores.
