In this series we have been following the dramatic unfolding of the Siege of Carthage in the Third Punic War. In prior episodes we covered the outbreak of the final war between Rome and Carthage. This involved the invasion of Africa and the numerous failed attempts by Roman commanders to take the enemy capital. In this episode we cover the latest attempt by Scipio Aemelianus who had been hailed as a hero of the war and was the most trusted to finish the job. However the defenders of Carthage would fight back with great ferocity, even rebuilding their fleet in secret for a desperate gamble to flip the table on the invaders. Now we bear witness to the last hope of Carthage to turn the tides with a naval battle outside the walls of their capital and an all out fight for control of the naval harbor.
Stay tuned as we continue the unfolding drama of the Siege of Carthage!
